I'm a 24-year-old Korean, working in the restaurant industry and getting into motion graphics a little late. Your lectures are really helpful. Please wish me luck so I can get a job.
Don't feel bad that you're getting into motion design late... Trust me, you're not late at all. I am 38 and just getting (back) into motion design. Don't allow time stop you from doing anything. Cheers!
The best text animators tut in AE. I never understood how the text animators actually work and and kept using presets. Most people just show how to do a couple of effects while you broke it down to the first principles. Thanks Stephan, I'm glad I've found your channel.
I'm not gay, but I will kiss you on the mouth for creating this tutorial. Probably one of the things that went right over my head before I saw your video. You are amazing!
dude thank you this is the only of 4 tutorials i've watched that helped me understand the animator fundamentally so i can recreate it without just memorizing what you did
Thank you for this tutorial-it was incredibly insightful! I’ve never thought to experiment with animating blending with effects before. Great work, Chief! I also thought to add that, the paragraph alignment would affect the typewriter effect reveal. It is so fun playing with this.
love the tutorial man. I got a little confused at 4:28 where you toggled the end watch to hide the text, but you could have done that with offset? I mean what's the use of the start and end when you can do it with offset?
In that case I wanted it to exit in the other direction. If I just reverse the offset it will go out to the right from where it came. You can use offset but you would need to animate the direction using the position property then. Or even use a -100 offset. I will go in more detail on this in the future!
Amazing value. Thank you for this! Pro-Tip regarding audio, though - you should use the Adobe Enhance Speech feature to fix the audio from your mic. Tiny adjustment :)
Thanks for the tip! I currently use this feature, but it seems it's not enough; when I increase it's % more, it starts messing up some words and sounds. It still in its infant stage I think, as a feature.
Thank you glad you found it useful! :) In that case you will need to type for instance -2 (in the expressions), rather then -1. Wherever we had typed -1 in the expression.
Gr8 video-one of the best on UA-cam. Took me 3 hours to complete 8mins of the video and about 6hours for the complete video. Over 350 steps or about 400 mouse motion+clicks. My ? is, how did you animated the the 1st word (Text) that appered on this video. That first word "Text" animation is masterpiece. Plz explain. Thanks alot.
Thank you for your comment. That animation is just a simple scale animation on the word... just keyframe it from 100% to 90% over a second then switch to the layer that we have the animation in.
love this, thank you so much! What if i have 5 words in a sentence, and i'm trying to isolate the 4th and 5th word? what number should I set the slider controls, and what should I type after the expression? thank you!
Thank you glad you found it useful! :) In that case you will need to type for instance -2 (in the expressions), rather then -1. Wherever we had typed -1 in the expression.
Hey, I'm trying to recreate the hide after part at 10:35 and all the words disappear instead of the last word, I have tried multiple times but it doesn't work :/
For this, make sure that the start value is set to the word number that you want to keep, and the end value is set to a high value (something like 100 should be good). Also make sure that it is set to "Words" and not "Lines", from the advanced section.
Thank you glad you found it useful! :) In that case you will need to type for instance -2 (in the expressions), rather then -1. Wherever we had typed -1 in the expression.
Very creative job and tutorial ! What if, when I change the font of a word which is at the middle of a sentence, (strangely I made it sure that the special word is link to the main text by the right expression), then the special world has a different size (and the all hidden sentence as well) and get this unhappy offset in the animation. Do you have any idea of how to fix that ? Anyway, I will look at your tools and probably get a good part of them. Thank a lot for your creativity and your work.
Thank you so much for your positive comment and support :) Yes, different fonts have different sizing, in that case you just need to tweak the new font size slightly to match the other layer's overall size.
Bro the tutorial was superb and i am going to create this for my next Ad video. And bro what's the sfx name you used for the text effects i did'nt get any sound for that
it was really helpful! waiting for more advanced tutorials but i have two qus . 1 - what if i have to hide two word or three? just you did like the simple word . then how can i do that ? 2 can i reveal half line together . like frist 3-4 by word and rest of the like line ?
Thank you glad you found it useful! :) In that case you will need to type for instance -2 (in the expressions), rather then -1. Wherever we had typed -1 in the expression.
Thank you glad you found it useful! :) In that case you will need to type for instance -2 (in the expressions), rather then -1. Wherever we had typed -1 in the expression.
You will need to make sure that any layer that you are linking to is present in the precomposed composition also. With the current expression how it is written, AE, won't find the layer if it is in a different composition.
i have a slight problem. When i go into the graph editor, it isnt a curve that goes up and down like in the video, it just goes straight up. How do i fix this?
In this case I think the problem might be that your keyframes are not easy eased. Simply select the keyframes and hit f9 on your keyboard to Easy Ease them.
If I had done it using the offset in that case, the words would go to the opposite direction, since the original animation was coming from the right. I could still use the offset, but then I would need to change the position value to the opposite side. There are basically multiple ways to go about it, and achieve the same result.
I am facing an issue where changing the font messes up the position of the "Simple" Text, I try to realign it but then it messes up the position of the original "Simple" Text, how do I fix this?
Yes, different fonts have a different size. You will need to set a different font size for the different font. Just tweak the font size until you get something that you like.
Thank you for your comment. Not really sure how to fix this! Let me know if you have any tips... Might need to upgrade my microphone.. I have quite a decent one however 😕
@@stephanzammit Not a biggy, just something I noticed - maybe using a smartphone with wireless lapel mic for audio, may not record as much reverb, but I'm just guessing. Thanks for sharing your skills. Much obliged.
