    A simple but terrific project. I really like the information about the UV Resin. I have made numerous outdoor house signs and they always never live as long as I had hoped. Giving them a shot of the Resin may be the life enhancer I have been looking for. thanks so much for all the great information on this "simple" project. Nice work, Ken. Tell your daughter to take plenty of photos for you to share. 😃

      I will have to do that and see if she will take them for me. Thanks for tuning in and for the kind words on the show. It's very much appreciated.

    Well, I always have a story... I made a large five point star and embellished it with stars and stripes. I used an acrylic exterior paint for the colors and then coated it with Total Boat crystal clear epoxy. It hangs on the house in direct sunlight. After about three months I noticed it was yellowing. It now looks like an antique star now. Live and learn, you never know till you try! Nice project Kenny!

      Epoxy should be coated with some type of UV inhibitor. Thats why on boats you will see some builders add a coat of varnish over the epoxy. Sunlight will break down epoxy.

      Maybe I will look into sealing it even more and hopefully it will last longer. Yellowing had occurred to me but I wasn't sure how to deal with it just yet. I will look into how to deal with that and hopefully I will have time to do it before it gets shipped off to the east coast. Thanks for tuning in Dennis and for chiming in with your story. Love it.

    That is quite a nice project Kenny! My first scroll saw project was to draw out and cut our 911 house numbers. About 5" wide ans 9" tall. I painted them Neon Orange and the UPS drivers still don't always notice them from 30 feet away against a very dark brown garage lol! I finally made it back on to watch your shows. What a year it has been here lol! Take care!

      Glad to have you back. I don't think the UPS driver needs to see the numbers. After all, they are just going to throw the package from the roadside onto your driveway anyway. Thanks for tuning in to the show this week. Welcome back.

    I need to make an address plaque for my house. You have a lot of excellent, and practical tips. Good job! BTW, the squinting tip has been my modus operandi for many years. Good one!

      I'm retired now but was a sandblast glass engraver for 30+ years. I also used that squinting thing occasionally, too. As it happens, I'm also thinking of making a new number plaque for home! 🙂

    Looks nice. Is she going to take a picture of it installed on the house? Was that a rental that you stayed in?

      I'm not sure if she will take a picture Karl. I'm sure that if I ask her, she will. I will be there again next year so I may just take the picture myself and show it for an update segment of the show. As for the house, it's a family member's home. Thanks for turning in this week.

    I CNC carve house & number signs, prefer doing Classic Oval cottage signs with multiple layers and central artwork. Last one was all 3D relief. Finish off with several coats yacht Varnish

    Nice little project, adding a little bit of style to a plain board. What is the brown paper you lay down on the work surface?

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  2 місяці тому +1

      I get coated butcher paper in large rolls at the local Costco and then use it in the shop. It's great for laying down to prevent overspray, spills or just to keep the surface clean from glue squeeze out. I did a show on making the ceiling rack for it. You can find it here if you are interested. ua-cam.com/video/fcNUFPF-how/v-deo.html

    What is the layout tool you used to measure the dimension?

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  2 місяці тому

      That tool is the most asked about tool on my show. It is called an INCRA T-rule and is available from most woodworking suppliers or directly from www.incra.com.
      I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

    Kenny, no such thing as a simple project. You start with simple but to do it right there is usually more involved. This is a great example, a pine board some paint and some numbers and the job is done until it is time to do it again. Really curious to hear how this one holds up.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  2 місяці тому

      I go to the east coast about once a year normally so it will be easy for me to see how it's holding up (or not). Thanks for tuning in this week Paul and for taking the time to leave your comment. It's appreciated.
