Every bike or trike I get that is the first thing I get. CLYMER manual for that model. That motor looks intimidating to tare down and put back together.
You probably have the correct tool by now, but in an emergency, the oil filter bolt can be used to pull the flywheel off. ;-) As a teenager, I was a Honda M/C machanic and used that trick until we got the proper tool from Honda. Worked most of the time, except on my own CX500 where I had a stuck flywheel and ruined the oil filter bolt. Cheers.
I know this is a year old but just in case you run into it again. The 20mm x 1.5 puller, the Honda oil filter bolt is the same thing ( at least on a CM400 CB450 ) I use that to pull my flywheel / stater rotor cover all the time. Works great and uses a 14mm ratchet.
Plastic bags.... totally a great way to go. I use them for tons of stuff. If I want them to last (some have for years like this) I put 2" wide gaffer tape on them. Very durable.
I'm quite surprised that you don't have a lot more subscribers as you're videos are both very informative and great to watch. Would you ever consider doing a Honda shadow bobber build?!

I was so lucky to find the same thing when I took down my 500 cross hatching look great I borrowed a dial bore gauge from work and it was still in spec those little engines just sounds so nice
Only just found this on 26 May 2022 and I have one request: More B Roll like that please, and a question: What made you think the engine needed stripping down? The rule is usually to leave well alone unless there’s a known issue such as a funny noise, oil or water leak, signs of wear (low compression or oily plugs etc). All you really needed to do was perform a compression test; pressure test if it fails the compression test; bore scope inspection; oil and water inspection. Yes, some bearing seals and other seals may be stuffed, but it looks to be a very low mileage engine. I would probably have sorted the carbs and ignition, changed the oil, lubed the bores, and bench run it. Anyway, really nice work. This is an engine I haven’t worked on, so you’ve gifted a good tutorial. Thank you for sharing.
I honestly am terrible at getting B roll so I agree. To your other concerns you must realize that this bike is being built for a customer. The engine is from a junkyard and condition unknown. Being that the build is going to a high level in every aspect it makes sense to tear it down and make fresh as a new base. Better finish, known condition, upgrades performed at the same time. If it were my bike I may not have gone that far but again when doing something for a customer they need that piece of mind knowing its fresh and gone through not a junkyard engine.

POWA! I had the engine on the shelf and wanted to try the swap for the sake of doing it. You must also think that this is a customer bike so I did a rebuild so I knew we had a good baseline. Most of the time you will not need to rebuild these.
There's a lot of great shit going on here,.....But the Rims was my favorite,......I love spoke vwheels not stupid mag wheel's. I'm Old School a bike has to have a full frame, Manual gauges, A Chain,....A Carburetor and a kick starter and a 67 Triumph tail light. I don't really care what Brand the bike is as long as it was cheap,.... then I'd just rebuild it. Your Bike is looking great though,....I like how your not cutting corners. And yes number one is a Motor Cycle Repair Manual all the spec's you need,......but there's lots of problems you run across thats not in them,.... great video series.

These are the ones I like; tearing down an engine to the bare cases. In your opinion, are the Clymer manuals the best?
A factory manual is best. I just use what I can afford which has been Clymer since I have them for every bike I work on

You can find them in many places like murays carbs, cmsnl, partzilla, david silver spares, nos on ebay, and your local dealer.

Generally I link everything I use. Rod bearings don't really exist though

Some items like rod bearings are impossible to find but many other items are still readily available

8 valves and 4 cam lobes how does that work?
Each pair of intake and exhaust valves are actuated by one pushrod. They are on a common shaft
