Seth Meyers is a freaking joke!!! We need Norm McDonald to be the weekend update host...seth has no talent in the show and you can definitely see what I mean when you watch his disgraceful talk show on weeknights!!! It was all Hader and mulaney!
John Mulaney & Bill Hader are such a hysterical team, Stefon is an amazing character & the way they changed the lines on Bill made it even better. Genius! I never get tired of seeing Stefon!
I loved Stefon before I had ever taken my first trip to NYC. After a few trips where my friends and I went around and partied, I realized how hilariously accurate his character was. Even now, there’s a very specific culture in New York City where everyone is trying to make the next “hit” bar or club for tourists to visit. For instance, we went to a bar called “mehanata” for their Ice cage experience. We pulled up in our taxi, and we couldn’t find the entrance to the bar. There was no sign indicating it even existed. We were eventually directed to an unmarked door, where a cover charge was collected. Behind the door were steps. We went down two stories where we eventually reached another ominous black door. It was the entrance to the bar. There were belly dancers everywhere, and club lighting. The “ice cage” was an experience in which you put on authentic soviet uniforms/ hats/coats and one person gets a helmet. You and your friends then go into a walk in fridge with glass siding. You are each given a shot glass made of ice, and the opportunity to take as many shots of vodka as you can in 2 minutes. (I went for the goose and got seven or eight) there was a vomit bucket in the corner. at the end you all smash your shot glasses on the helmet one of your friends are wearing. Then we got TF out of there before the liquor got to us.
The best example of John making Bill break I think is the “human roomba” bit when Bill has to say “slide around on your floor eating garbage” and he breaks so hard 😂
He'd made it through the entire sketch...until then. You can see Hader lower his head like "darn you, John!!". He NEARLY made it through. Turns out he never made it through an entire long-form Stefon sketch without breaking.
@@michaeladkins6 Not if it's Seth, Bill, and Fred together. They're hilarious. Check out their panel interviews. It's supposed to be about Documentary Now, but they go on many tangents, like SNL or randomly slipping into improvised characters.
I’ve been to New York one time and I stood in line for standby snl tickets at 5am and managed to make it into the live taping of Bill Haders last episode. Stefan was my favourite character and it was so fun to be able to see it live, I loved everything about it 😊😂
whats the big deal he always behind the scenes, had no idea on his comedic style especially after seeing commercials for "The Book of Mormon"- w/ John Mulaney. Thought he was just a weirdo. That deli sketch he did on SNL is so true and it's stuck in my head.
It's one of the most perfect jokes I've ever heard. The setup is already ridiculous, and you're expecting a ridiculous name because of "Blacula" (a very real movie btw), and then you get hit with such a typically American Jewish name. I laugh myself silly every time I hear it. 😂
It's 2019 and I'm just seeing this now?!?! Had no idea Mulaney was a writer on SNL, he makes so much sense to me now....LOVED Stefon and Hader was epic at that and now that I know the lines were changed up on purpose I wish I had known when I was watching....and the wedding?!?! How the hell did I miss that episode.. had to be amazing
I always kindof figured he was seeing those lines for the first time and genuinely laughing at them. It's cool to see that that's actually what happened!
As someone who spent my youth deep in late 90s early 2000s rave culture Stefan has a special place in my heart. Mostly because I've met guys just like him dozens of times in obscure clubs after 3:00am.
Pop up club & party culture 2005-2007 really did have everything. The first time I saw Stefon made my heart warm and nostalgic. Those weird ass clubs & party days were some of the best times of my life. Whenever I encounter an uptight, overly anxious, insecure, rude person/millennial, I think of those times and the characters I met and how people joined forces to be inclusive, creative and free, while openly putting their issues on display to music. An online community cannot build character the way those days did, no matter how wild. You had to be PRESENT to take it all in; observe, engage, participate AND keep yourself and your friends safe!!! It was the last party era without cell phones. Way more connecting than picture taking. I learned so much about people, especially myself! Stefon does represent a real life time in history.👩🏽🎤🕰💌
Great job John and Bill... One of the funniest characters in a long time for SNL. Doesn't take much talent to take a pie in the face but when you can make people laugh with weird combinations of cultural references and a character, that's brilliance.
I love Stefon so much that my daughter bought me a Stefon Christmas ornament this year. He's smack in the middle of my tree surrounded by all kinds of crazy things that could be in a club.... a Santa, a golden Buddha, sparkly baubles, colorful birds, babies...
I especially appreciated the explanations about Stefon's "look." Such a perfectly realized character, no matter how many times Bill Hader lost it -- his break-up at the Jewish Dracula joke is one of the most sustained and absolutely my favorite. Makes me laugh every time.
I thought I heard they changed the lines on the prompter lol i feel like you can tell because sometimes he would say a line in such disbelief. So funny!
I LOVE Stefon and I love this video! Thank you for telling us about the back round of this character. I could watch Stefon forever and it's even better when Bill breaks up! You rock John!
