      Yes & horrible what Anorexia did to her that she failed to see. When you look in the mirror & see an 80 lb lady, how is that considered a success & an inspiration to continue the dieting?

    They seemed like two genuinely down to earth people and Karen's humility and class makes you think that she'd be exactly the kind of girl you'd have been happy to have married.

      It is interesting that the same sentiments were echoed in a radio interview here in Australia in mid-2018 between a veteran(60 years) Australian broadcaster called Philip Brady and the star of an Australian Karen Carpenter tribute show. Philip, then a TV quiz host, met Richard and Karen when presenting a gold record during their 1972 Australian tour and spent some time with them. He described Karen and Richard as" like normal everyday people, I mean ,they really WERE superstars but never acted that way." There was an interesting moment as well when the young tribute star described Karen and Richards parents as "controlling", Philip replied, "but I can remember meeting their parents, THEY WERE LOVELY PEOPLE!!".

    I have a real fascination for the difference in a pop star between when you hear them SING and when you hear them TALK. It's like they're a different person. The best example of this is Elton John, but also Karen Carpenter. If you only ever heard Karen sing, you would get the idea that she is this wise, mature woman whose lived a little---and then when you hear her in an interview, she becomes this innocent, playful little girl that she really was in real life since she was just barely out of her teens at this time.

    Richard Carpenter was born and raised in Downey on a street called fiddler. The cross streets was Clark and Foster Road in Downey I know I went to school with Karen back in Downey Senior high school back in 1967 and 66. I was in the band with her. They are what they are apple pie and everything else which is very true and I was very honored to have them as my friends.😂

      @@Tiffany.1970Seriously! What gives you the right to pass judgment on people you have never met. Karen loved her parents. You don't know their arrangement. You don't know the whole situation. To call them money grabbers, especially Mr. Harold Carpenter, is out of bounds. Mr. Carpenter loved his daughter and it literally killed him after what happened. So before opening your trap and speaking like a fool who got stuck in a hornet nest, you might want to re-engage your brain-that is if you have one. It's none of our business to assume something we don't know 😎

    Karen's Dad clearly was proud of BOTH of his kids. Their mom clearly had a fascination and eyes only for Richard, very strange. So many parents would have loved and adored children such as Richard and Karen. Mrs. Carpenter knew what a fool she looked like to the world after Karen died and how she treated Karen leaked out. My opinion of their mom will never change. I don't refer to her as a mother, because that implies someone who actually is a loving being.

    • @monilaninetynine3811
      @monilaninetynine3811 3 роки тому

      People kept telling her that she was fat and she was chubby as a little girl. The eating disorder wasn't just about not being fat. It also seems to be tied to the heavy touring schedule that they adopted. Sometimes people have difficulty adapting to schedules, different circadian rhythms, jetlag, etc. and integrating a decent diet into that lifestyle. So, I think that also played a HUGE role in the development of the disturbing patterns that formed. Very complex situations.

Then if you wanted a nice real hair one it was about 100.00. I bought lots of those til I got the high dollar one.
