  • Karen Carpenter interview on Swap Shop with Noel Edmonds (24th October 1981)
    This incredibly rare appearance is missing from the BBC archives and was believed lost. It was made available to me through a VHS recording from fellow Carpenters fan Jay Clements who recorded it at the time it was broadcast.
    The last minute or so is missing where Karen asks viewers a question they had to answer to enter the competition.

Oops! I'm sorry guys! Didn't mean for any false alarms. Keep on flying. We are okay!" One more thing, Karen had nothing to apologize about. So what if she loved playing this game. My opinion is that because the only tangible control she had over her life (and perhaps others acceptance) was enmeshed with her ability to control her weight. I believe she knew it was extreme but knowledge isn't enough to simply flip the switch in one's body, mind and spirit to change. It must have been exhausting for her.
      I enjoyed her exuberance over the game! I picked up on Karen's defending her enjoyment after the host appeared to reject instead of support her opinion. It would have been a joy to see her success in a solo career and to be free from the need and control of others expectations. I love her voice but at times I feel guilty for listening to it knowing she may have felt trapped and unhappy.

      Perhaps you shouldn't watch if you find the rainbow flag colors so triggering.

    • @ThundermansThunder
      @ThundermansThunder 10 місяців тому

      @@bobfinholm2671It isn't the rainbow that triggers people, it is the plagiarization and malignment of God's rainbow by lgbtq+ who use it to represent their shameful lifestyles of sexual perversions, which are rebellious deviations from God's natural mandated order. God's rainbow should never have been allowed to be used in the "pride" flag, as it is tantamount to to the American Flag being used to represent communism, or using a swastika on a flag to represent freedom, and is no more acceptable to Christians than it would be by Muslims, if the "pride" flag were flown in downtown Saudi Arabia! The symbols are being used in polar opposition to their true meanings. The rainbow flag, as the "pride" flag, represents a movement of oppression, that threatens the rights of anyone who refuses to agree and comply with lgbtq+ ideologies, which are based upon subjective feelings, rather than objective truths. This also highlights the hypocrisy of its followers that claim to be inclusive of everyone, while they reject anyone who refuses to agree with, and pander to them! The rainbow needs to be rescinded as the representative symbol of human sexual depravity, and should be used as an unadulterated symbol of God's promise, for everyone, as it has always been. There are many options that can be used for a flag to symbolize sexual depravity, just as well, without misappropriating and maligning a holy symbol!
