The world lost an amazing artist the day she died. Karen will be forever in our hearts.
amen.....
PRECISELY
Thank you so much for this. When Karen died I was on a bushwalking holiday and missed all the media coverage and feel like I will be mourning forever. She will always be my favourite singer. No-one else comes close. I have so much admiration for Richard. Not just for his musical genius but his resilience. I can't imagine what it must have been like to lose both your only sibling and your professional partner. He is always so honest and down to earth when interviewed. We also owe him a lot for his efforts to keep Karen's musical legacy alive. It is great that young people today are discovering the magic of the Carpenters sound. p.s. That's the first time I've seen the Beechwood video clip!

Sue........Karen is alive, in our hearts....and her legacy lives on....Your words touch us...
@suerosalie It was pretty amazing seeing the Beechwood clip. It's the first time I've ever seen Karen Carpenter in a video clip. Richard also said that the album was only around 20-25% completed at the time she died, so I was sort of amazed the was in the video clip of a finished track. There must be more to the story.
@@gilbydog7350 Imho, there IS more to this story. First and foremost, their heartless mother was the primary driver of Karen's emotional issues and the resulting anorexia nervosa. Secondly, Richard did almost nothing to help Karen. Jealous of her understandable star billing, he hid in the shadow of 'knowing', while never willing to really help or (now) speak the truth.
It's so sad to hear Richard playing "Yesterday Once More" without Karen being there to sing it.
You have made my day with your posting, I'm honored that my efforts have touched someone this way, thank you for your comment. I'm glad I recorded and kept this treasure from the past, it's "Yesterday Once More" .
I went into a week's isolation following Karen's death. Quite unable to handle the shock. Her voice was magical and I must admit, I loved her.
She had a short time of living but her voice is forever.
She lives in our minds and it's impossible to forget her.
My father was a teenager in the early 1980s. He loved the Carpenters and still does, but would never admit to any of his high school buddies that he liked it. Back then the Carpenters were considered "squeaky clean" and corny. Dad was 16 when the news dropped that Karen passed away. "Was a real shocker" he told me. I'm glad that Karen has recieved posthumous love and attention, her voice was truly something, hell, *she* was truly something. Just a shame that she never grew old and happy.
Most emotional I have seen RC in an interview Lovely lady rip Still remembered in 2022 and always Nearly 40yrs my gosh
Saturday ,February,5,1983(as it was here in Australia),heard the news on a car radio out shopping. It was just so sad, just so bloody sad. RIP Karen Carpenter 1950-1983.
Yesterday Once More without Karen's vocals is haunting.
'Karen meant so much to so many people I really do want to talk about the album and about Karen '
i can't even imagine listening to the song "yesterday once more" being sung by my deceased sister. richard seems particularly pained in the second interview.
The Carpenters have sold over 100 million in records sales now.
a human voice with the angelic, the angelic in harrmony with the human angel.....paradise never sounded so ......completely heavenly........ sing on , lead sister.....i miss you .
if you were deaf, her smile would make music for you to hear. she did not just sing a song , she lived a song......few artists have reached that depth......knowing her only once for a short time, she was remarkably real......and the greatest compliment i gave her was how well she played her drum solo...{her ...drum solo] three hugs and a kiss for that > a moment of forever .... with a wonderous woman , and a remarkable artist........tears and smiles bring pictures of karen.
I feel so bad for Richard in this last video. It looked like his eyes welled up, understandably so. RIP Karen ❤️
At our wedding our special dance was to the song "Only Yesterday"
As an Australian, l was way to young at time Karen was around. She had the voice of an angel. She is sadly missed and think of all
Probably the warmest voice ever...
Wow that last interview. Poor Richard you could see he was trying to hold it together.
RIP Karen ~ you will always be loved.
Richard is so sad here - poor guy :(
It's so sad that he has to be upbeat this soon after his little sister's passing.
Such a shame. Gone too soon at 32 years young.
i love Karen till the end of my life....
Ditto
Miss you a lot Karen. RIP.
She had a amazing voice and will always be remembered !
Her voice is like silk.😢
And it’s a wonderful album, “Now” was the last song she’s sang.
Markinpuff I remember hearing that “Now” was done in only one take.... her last perfect song.
It's a pleasure dean, I'm so glad you've enjoyed watching the clip, thanks for your feedback
Terry
I never realized Richard was such a fine pianist
Didn't you ever listen to any of their records? Who do you think played the piano on all those records?
He was a child prodigy and set for a career as a concert pianist at an early age.
Such a loss of an American icon. So sad that she had this mental illness and nobody knew about it until she passed.
They knew but no one knew what to do....
@Michael Asay ok
Mental illness? The world has a mental illness. USA elected TRUMP who calls normal women cows. Not much has changed.
Her voice we cannot forget..
richard really seems sad during that last clip.
He was still grieving.
There will never be a voice like Karen c
My heart breaks for Richard!

Karen vive Richard!!!
It feels as though the logo on the piano says Karen 可愛い.
Beautiful xx
Tu voz de ángel sonará por siempre.
she died at 32..
Christine Stone I’ve been saying that for 30 years.
Amen
damn
Elizabeth it's easy to misinterpret text messages..I apologize. my bad.
Damn you anorexia. ;_; *sob*
The song they showed, Beechwood 4-5 789, was from 'Made In America', not 'Voice From The Heart'.
It was the most recent Carpenter's clip available to the Australian media at that point.(the record bombed in Australia, but was #10 in New Zealand). I saw this interview when first broadcast. I suspect the clip was shown at that point to allow their guest to compose himself a little, as Richard then got to watch his deceased sister, I d'ont think it helped a great deal.
You noticed way to late!!
She was 32 not 31 genius
The News reader from 1983 was Ian Ross....Ian was a much loved personality for many years, and passed away in 2014....Information sharing wasn't as accurate , back in 1983, but those who care know how old "She"was......
I have always wondered since seeing this clip whether the body on the stretcher was Karen. The way the men just quickly placed the body slap bang wollop in the van to me is fairly disrespectful.. to me that is.
Honestly, they probably did it every day, then. They could’ve been desensitized.
His music seems as empty as his heart.
Tragic.
He seems so upbeat so soon after his sister's death ???
Oh no - Richard had to cringe why they showed Beechwood
NEW 2021 unreleased Karen music ~ ua-cam.com/video/Xr4_3Iqob8s/v-deo.html
Who is the gentleman at 2:37?
Tracy Paxton Don Lane..he was an American who was a huge tv celebrity in Australia...had a late night show for many years...like a johnny carson
Richard could so easy be one of the Kennedy's.
He's already suffered enough.💔
Richard is right...changing weight so fast, plus that ipecac poison, taxed her heart to death...
First it seemed like he had no emotion about her death, and kind of a false smile...Then you could see why...
Hmmm, Richard, "Karen was there".. but not in your heart apparently. You didn't say so. Was this album release just a money making deal? Most important, when will you give Karen the genuine praise she deserves for her extraordinary voice? She was the 99% reason why the Carpenters succeeded.
To me, your 30s is where you really become an Adult. Up til then you're still just figuring life out.
Eu só posso dizer uma coisa, ela se foi e até hoje só nos deixou saudades, bastante saudades, que fique em Paz minha querida Karen Carpenter.
I think the entertainment industry accelerates the process... significantly.
Yeah. I've thought that so many times that, passing at 32 years old, she was just beginning to step into that next phase of life where you really can catch your groove and develop into much more than you'd dreamed during the younger years. I think, as excellent as those early years were for them (1969 - 1980), she would have gone on to do Broadway. She had mentioned that in some interviews that she wanted to go in that direction. She certainly had the skills for it. Ugh. Her life was cut too short. Ugh! Bless her.
Liberace he's not but he is ok!!
I´ve got an eerie feeling that Richard Carpenter was finally capable of doing his "Rachmaninoff" stuff. Creepy...
I'm surprised that her voice was unaffected by all that vomiting and epecac which is a poison and stomach acid...very strange!
