I think one way to make democracies more interesting is to add different leaders with the elections and if you elect a new leader it unlocks a new political path based on their agenda. That way there's more flavour and a reason to stay democratic because over time you can gain a lot of bonuses from different leaders

Something I like is that they did not merged monarchist and integralists paths, it's a very common misconception even for Brazilians to assume integralists were monarchists, but different from its portuguese and french counterparts, brazilian integralism was a republican movement, sure there was monarchists in the movement, but officially they were republicans

    • @henriquemachado9941
      @henriquemachado9941 3 місяці тому +9

Careful with your wording buddy, the Integralists were far better than Italy's and Germany's fascist movements but they were still far-right, the concept of heavy militaristic-religious state was still there. Even if they opposed to race discrimination, as all brazilian people are brazilians, they still had the idea of "Brazil first" like the USA had and State above all subjects. (Which is why they kind-of aligned with Vargas as they weren't exactly favorable to democracy...)

@@ln6654 No, I do get the difference.
Most people don't. That's what I was warning about. People will get the idea that brazilian "facists" are the "republicans" of the United States.
It's not about people who know, it's about who doesn't know. That's how false information starts spreading, lack of knowledge on key different points on assuming they're all the same.

In regards to the comment about updating old DLC, at this point core game changes should just be introduced to the base game, with the DLCs being stuff that is easily toggled on and off like focus trees, graphics, etc. For example
Base Game - 50$ (or whatever) includes all major game mechanics and historical focus trees for majors. Gets updated with new mechanics when they are added.
DLC Pack - 15$ (or whatever) includes focus trees, characters, events, graphics, etc. for whatever the DLC focuses on. This is only updated if it begins to age badly (Sort of like how base game Italy and USSR trees got updated).

Vargas was like Salazar or even Franco. Brazil wasn't a democracy in the 30s. After the revolution, Vargas became a dictator and even couped himself to remain in power (it's a silly story, really). Also, Brazil never had kings, we'll be choosing Emperors. One of the branches belongs to a disinherited side of the family. Pedro Henrique was more democracy leaning than his counterpart, so it's odd that they didn't make a constitutional monarchy path with him too. It'll be a shame if there isn't a parliament mechanic for the democratic paths like we have with the USA though.

Hoi4 needs a better peace system for smaller war. Why do i have to Sea Lion britian for guyana. I understand the current system is to have a more realistic ending where you go right to berling. But that was a rare occurrence to happen in a war. Like ww2 was one of the only times that a whole country had to be occupied for a surrender. Usually, peace is made with much less, and through diplomacy

This DLC displeases me. Paradox is charging R$50.00 for just focus trees, where the main one, which is the Brazilian one, is missing several things and with several inaccuracies and I will list some:
1° The Brazilian integralist and monarchist focus should be inspired by the nationalist tree of Spain, where Plínio Salgado is like Franco, Gustavo Dodt Barroso would be like Emilio Mola (Falangist anti-monarchism) and Arlindo Veiga would be like Manuel Fal Conde.
    - Arlindo Veiga is the Leader of the "Ação Imperial Patrianovista Brasileira" (AIPB) which was a movement in favor of the restoration of the monarchy during the Vargas Era. (In Hearts of Iron he exists as a secret leader in Brazil before this DLC, you can get him if through Portugal you manage to transform Brazil into an Empire without the civil war, then he assumes the presidency of the country before carrying out the focus to transform Brazil into an empire.)
    - In this way, it would be possible to make an integralist Brazil under the leadership of Gustavo Dodt Barroso more radical and aligned more with Germany, since he represented a more anti-Semitic area of the movement and did not sympathize with the monarchy.
    - It would also be possible to follow the path of Plínio Salgado, who would unify this radical wing with the monarchist wing, in this way he could follow two paths, in one he would promise to restore the monarchy when he died, just like Franco did in Spain, or he could restore the monarchy, but the King would be a national spirit "Popular Figurehead" while Plínio would be the prime minister (like Mussolini)
    - However, if you wanted to follow the monarchist path, it would be the same process as Plínio's monarchy, but the prime minister would be Arlindo Veiga or you could choose to call elections and become a democratic parliamentary constitutional Monarchy, (Like the United Kingdom) changing the ideology to Democracy.
2° Vargas was never an integralist and there was no evidence that he sympathized, where did they get that to create the focus "In Vargas we trust"? It would make more sense if he became a non-integralist fascist if he decided to support the axis in the second war.
3° Where is the option for Brasil Varguista to support the Axis in the second war? This was a considered possibility and one of the biggest Achilles heels of Vargas supporters to date, how is this not a possible option in Hearts of Iron? Does this mean that a communist coup by Lampião is an alternative story considered, but Vargas' support for the axis is not?
4° Lampião’s portrait is ridiculous, where is his glasses? And where did they get that purple hat from? If he ever used it, I don't know any Brazilian who would recognize him for this hat, but rather for the iconic brown hat with 3 stars sewn on it.
5° Lampião was not a social warrior, he was a bandit. So it would make more sense for him to be the leader of an Anarchist coup than a communist one.
6° The pre-order music is ridiculous, it seems like a reimagining of the song "Comunist America" from the Man the Guns DLC with Samba percussion. Brazil has so many incredible songs that could be included as a bonus like they did with the Italy, Soviet Union and Finland DLCs, why is it only Brazil that doesn't deserve a decent song? They could sing the expeditionary's song, a Carmen Miranda classic, or even an instrumental like "Corta Jaca".
7° Are you sure that there is a focus on building Brasília some 20 years earlier, but there is no focus on overthrowing Vargas from power along the historical path?
Conclusion: This DLC just won't be the worst ever made because there is "Together for Victory", but if we compare it to "Battle for the Bosphorus" which doesn't add any new mechanics, just focus and flavor trees for the countries, the Battle of the Bosphorus is light years ahead of this current DLC. Now we just have to wait for the modders to fix what Paradox did.
Before anyone comes to insult me, I have 4000 hours of Hearts of Iron, so I'm not some idiot who's never played the game and is just complaining.

I am a brazilian, as it i have a lot of brazilian history in school, and the right branch of the focus tree (the one with integralist) stands together with the non-aligned path "estado novo" (or new state) , that is the historical path, the devs probably did that because in history, vargas were much more closer to facist countrys than democracies, as for the Polish focus in brazil focus tree, the new constitucion of brazil was inspired by the polish one, so they called it "polaca" (polish), the "américa do sul" focus, the name mean literally south america, mercosul its a economic block,, just like in the way european union is (but with less power), the central branch is for what i have been able to see, the alt history path of true democracy or monarchy, the king "pedro" its the soon of brazil last king, pedro II, and his soon pedro III its the most obvious choice for the next king.
I want to mention something about the "Restoring Brazilian honor" that is that brazil dont have a national identity because of the way the country and the population was formed (a lot of nationalities), and that its a thing that didnt go way till today, for the democracy path, this one will be the forgotten one, nothing more to say about it,
For the communist branch, "Free Prestes from prison" Prestes was the number 1 brazilian communist by the time, the "cangaço" (from the "cangaço coup") was a bandit group that act in the north of brazil, and was not part of any party, and that man at 15:13 with a hat in his head its the infamous leader of this group, the foto of union of latin american socialist republics only include brazil paraguay and some other nations for random reasons, thats all i hope helps
