When played right, the French horn is one of the most beautiful instruments on the planet and he plays it right.
When played wrong it can sound like a sad goat. I play it both ways sometimes.

I struggle on my trumpet so I have no idea if the french horn is easier or harder to hit those higher ones
@@GraemeLeighton definitely harder. The mouthpiece is smaller. But i have to say trumpet have its tough times too. :) many high notes required as well
@blueraineee ah dam it! May aswell stop trying haha, I hate trying a great music track like this and hearing it wrecked when I can’t hit the higher notes. If anyone has any tricks to hit higher notes I’d love to hear them 👍🏻
You know there's a good French horn player when they can flawlessly sound like every brass instrument... You know they have good taste in music when you see a Disney medley 😂 His playing is flawless!!!!

He's only playing French Horn, but the French Horn has a massive timbral range. He has also played trumpet in his other medleys.

as a horn player myself i just have got say the high tones in colors of the wind and see the light are just fantastic!
We played the soundtrack from the hunchback in notre dame for contest season and it’s one of my fav pieces
As a French horn player I hope to one day have this good of tone, i look forward to my future self playing like this!

Perfect! Frenchies unite! I love that only a hand full of us on the earth play this incredible instrument. We have a ear no one else has and range no one can imagine. We can sound like anything we want too lol. I love it here.
I know I’ve commented here before. But I just had to comment again. Whenever I feel so lost with horn I revisit this. Like someone else said, These “9 minutes in heaven” give me the motivation I need when I need it to get better and better. After I graduate, I know I will never stop playing horn. There’s so many fun things with it through every challenge. It’s a very difficult instrument, but hearing even my own improvements each day is worth it all the way. Right now I have something in the way for range (braces) but once they come off I’m going full force!
When he jumped to that high C at the begining of beauty and the beast my jaw litterly dropped. I play French Horn decently but this is incredible. The Disney fan and french horniest in me love this so much.
5 years already, I still listen this beautiful medley.

You both inspired me to do horn, it all started with Patrick's cover of viva la vida, and Marc's tribute videos to John Williams.... and i was originally a percussionist! and now i'm first chair at a 12th grade level in an 8th grade band.... so keep doing what you horn gods do!
You are an inspiration to me because I just started playing last year and I am in awe at how well done and beautiful this was.
P.S. You and FHornPatrick are one of my favorite youtubers.

The Bells of Notre Dame sounds so good. You perfectly captured the crescendo and break. This was amazing
The hand of God touches some, but He surely holds Marc firmly in His palm. How one can do ANY of the things done in these videos is an amazing feat. And Marc does them all, unbelievably creative arrangements, beautiful syncing with the video, and playing that is the most talented and expressive horn playing that I have ever heard. We are fortunate to have You Tube to be able to partake in these masterpieces. Thank you God and thank you Marc, you make life fuller and richer.
Alan Menken is truly a genius. Very, very few composers in the world can do what he does. He's tackled so many different genres throughout his career. He understands all of them and captures a unique musical identity with each project. What he did through the 90s was just phenomenal.

Ok also a French horn player and I almost quit last year (in secondary school now) but I stuck with it and got my braces off and got some great solos! It’s so motivating to hear this guy play and to see people listen too
Its the softest and most relaxing of the brass instruments.
As a former French horn major for part of college, I appreciate the difficulty level this music requires. It is so lovely!

I wish I had kept on playing my horn after college, now when I go back to play it I sound like an elephant sneeze :( the horn is so beautiful and you sing on it which is such a compliment to the instrument, you truly have a sense of mastery and effortlessness in your playing and it is refreshing to hear!

I'm a music education major, and Horn is my primary instrument and I can't tell you how hard I'm working to get my tone as gorgeous as yours. This is the best thing I've ever seen. If you ever publish this music I'd love to get it for my horn choir.
