    Holy macaroni batman!!!! The level of comfort you had and keeping your cool with that big log is impressive. Fantastic operating my man!
    I bet those wheel spacers came in handy when your back tire started to lift. I'm so excited, mine are on order :)

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 роки тому +1

      Haha thanks Nick! That’s a great point that I never mentioned is those wheel spacers ABSOLUTELY made me feel more stable.. even when I felt it wanting to tip it didn’t because typically at least one rear wheel was on the ground (most the time) lol and those 2” spacers made a huge difference. I’m glad you got a set ordered you won’t regret it!

      Thanks Jackie! Yah that front end sure was haha, those logs were huge! At some point I actually need to move them again, I plan to take them to a buddys house this summer so he can use them for fire wood so stay tuned to see my move them again this summer!

    Man that log at 11:15 would have had me pinching a hole in britches lol. Looks like that grapple did a great job its amazing how much these small machines can do very under rated imo.

      Haha! Yah that was the biggest log for sure, I had a lot of fun making this video and agree it was quite puckering in the process! Planning to buy a few more suitcase weights soon just havnt gotten around to it.. not every day I lift loads that heavy! Thanks for watching!

      @@BiffsEquipment Suitcase weights are Very expensive. I would like to see a video of you making your own concrete ballast. You could make a 500 lb. one (6 x 80lb. bags) for around $30.00.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 роки тому

      @@johnevans6053 your correct about them being expensive.. the worst part is the price just keeps going up for them but that’s cuz they are just so darn useful.. it’s so nice to be able to easily pull off a few weights when I mow.. I’ll be building a front weight bracket come spring so when I mow my lawn I can pull the suitcases off the back and stick them on the front as I often pull wheelies going up steep hills if I don’t put some weight up front.. this is why I like suitcase weights the best as they can be dialed in with your tractor per job or attachment. They also sit much higher up than a ballast box so they are not to drag on a steep incline or drag while the tractor is being loaded into a trailer for a job. I may build some type of other ballast box at some point tho!

      I would have released the log at the top, let it roll, then picked it up at the bottom of the hill.

    💥 20:15 I thought you reached a tipping point. Making me nervous. That grapple is great!

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 роки тому +2

      Haha thanks Jon! It was a bit nerve wrecking at first but you could tell after the first log or two I was getting my confidence once I felt the machine out to see what it was gonna do on that second big log I brought down the hill.. that’s why I was lifting and raising the loader on that second big log was to figure out the tipping points of the machine for the much larger logs still to come! Haha. Thanks for watching!

      That’s a great idea Sean only I don’t think I coulda even got them rolling by myself! Haha.. plus I have drainage pipes at the bottom of that hill that those logs coulda easily destroyed if they rolled over them haha. As for ballast I actually had the perfect amount of ballast but that was back when I had my hydraulic pressure set to 2000psi but since increasing it to 2250psi it put me a bit over the limit of what my current ballast could handle and I just never got around to buying a few more suitcase weights yet but plan to soon. You had us worried for a moment there Biff, going down the hill. I think you were playing with us though. Sometimes you know you had the log quite high off the ground, just to get the tipping effect, to try and scare us. More rear weights will defiantly help. I built my own ballast that is pretty compact and I love it. It weighs about 400 pounds, and it has a 2" receiver out the back, so I can still move trailers while it's on. Stop by and check it out if you want some ideas to build one.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching Ron. No trickery here tho I wasn’t trying to play anyone, I’m not like that.. tho I was trying to figure out just how far I could tip on that second log as it was already tipping so I wanted to lift it to see just how stable it felt when I was tipped to test the limits for the larger logs still to come.. that’s why you can tell I was more confident in the remaining few logs after you seen me raise and lower the loader on that one log.. was just getting a feel for what the machine would do.
      I’ll have to stop by sometime man that sounds good, tho I don’t need any other ballast rack other than the one I have now that I built:. I can still add 4 more weights to the back of it which is another 200lbs of weight to my current rack.. I can also add 70lb suitcase weights instead of using the 50lb weights so I have many balls sting options with my current weight rack and still allows for a 2” reciver hitch to move trailers around.. I also like it becusse suitcase weights are easy to handle and can be adjusted per the load (once you have enough of the weights that is) I always planned on getting 2-4 more weights just havnt gotten around to it yet.. my tractor use to never lift the ass end at 2000psi but since I increased the pressure to 2,250psi I now need more ballast to counter the added lifting power that I added.. just havnt gotten around to it yet. Also You gotta figure it’s not every day I’m lifting logs like this with my machine.. once or twice don’t hurt long as your safe. Thanks for watching!

    Just got out yesterday to use my grapple for the 1st time. It's an awesome attachments. I see that you are enjoying the use of yours. Just a quick tip: Going backwards down the hill with the heavy logs would have taken out the tipping. Also any really steep hill backwards is the recommended method to prevent tipping.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Paul.. yah going down backwards is a good idea just like they recommend when using a fork lift with a heavy load tho it woulda been much more difficult in this situation and much more scary to do.. Don’t forget I had to Maneuver around that boat, then a vent pipe, there was also a few big dips I had to avoid and then I had to Turn near the bottom of the hill.. going down backwards in this instance woulda been much harder to do and wouldn’t have been any safer in my mind but in most cases your right it is Safer. Thanks for watching!

    Great video it's amazing how much these little tractors can lift I push mine from time to time. Does look like you might need to get more weights tho. I think I might try going down backwards next time and see if it makes it better.

I do plan on buying a few more suitcase weights tho it’s not every day I’m lifting loads this heavy haha. Going down backwards woulda been much more difficult tho I agree it could be safer depending on the Circumstance.. I had to drive around a boat, a vent pipe, some deep low spots, and had a tight turn on the bottom of the hill.. all of which woulda made going down backwards more dangerous in my mind. Thanks for watching!

    Could you maybe chain one of the shorter logs to your linkage and carry that at the same time? That would give you more counterweight for the loader when doing the big ones and move an extra log - two birds with one stone. Great videos by the way - I only recently found your channel and I'm working my way through it all.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 роки тому

      Hey Neil thanks for the comment! Happy to hear you found my channel and are liking my videos, I hope you’ll stick around for more! I agree that would have helped counter balance the heavy load out front but since I had my weight bracket on the back I would have only been able to skid the log with the 3-point instead of picking it up.. it was a bit tricky getting around that boat and down that steep incline also. Haha.

    Just picked up my first set of implements (besides the backhoe) for my 25D. Tiller, box blade, brush hog, and back blade. Looking to get a grapple but struggling to decide to get a pin on from someone like EA or Landpride, or make the switch to SSQA. Right now I'm pin on bucket but I've heard you lose a fair amount of lift with the added weight of the bracket. Also doesn't the Artillian require purchase of their pallet frame too, which with a grapple is in the 3k range total, plus a 3rd function or diverted.
    Advice on switch to SSQA or stick with Pin on. And is the Artillian worth the added cost of entry of the frame and grapple? It seems like it does some serious work.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 роки тому

      Hey buddy, I’m sorry I’m just seeing your comment, sometimes UA-cam hides comments from me depending on if they were posted with a phone or from a Pc. I would strongly recommend swapping your pin on style loader to the SSQA .. it will offer you a whole new world of attachments to use on your tractor and allows you to switch back and forth quickly and effortlessly.. keep in mind it does add an extra 50lbs on the end of your loader but trust me it’s a very small price to pay for the usability it gives you. As for where to buy one, AI2 makes one I believe, EA makes one as well and so does kubota. My buddy has the EA one and he absolutely loves it, best decision he ever made he said.. as for the grapple it’s all gonna depend on what your doing with it. If you find yourself doing the type of work that I do, such as moving big piles of brush, logs, and debris, you really can’t beat the Artillian grapple.. it’s the most versitile grapple on the market. I would say go with Artillian specially if you don’t have pallet forks or a stump bucket yet because those are 2 attachments that are life savers once you have them and going with the Artillian system allows you to buy the fork Frame first and slowly add these other accessories later. If you already have pallet forks or a stump bucket or don’t see yourself really using them then the EA grapple is also a great choice. I would stay away from land pride as the tines get bend super easily and they don’t even have grease fittings on them.. I don’t see them lasting very long and everyone I have talked to who owns the landpride version says to stay away from it and look elsewhere.
      Hope this helps! 👍🏻

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 роки тому

      Thanks John, to be honest Iv never actually been too concerned about twisting or bending my loader.. if anything you may end up bending your loader mounts before the actual loader itself.. loaders are build very strongly and Iv run lots of differnt tractors for many years and all of them I’v been abusive to and it’s amazing how much stress a loader can handle or how much twisting they can withstand with out staying twisted or bent.. they will typically twist right back to where they were once the weight is released and they design them this way so they have some flex. All the crazy things Iv done with my little BX and Iv never bent my loader, Iv twisted it many times but it always springs right back when I release the load.. this is quite normal in these situations. • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 роки тому

      Hey Rick, so in this video I Belive I was at 2,200psi.. the factory PSI spec for these tractors is between 1850 and 1950.. At 2000 to 2200psi the tractor really wakes up when it comes to its lifting abilities and I was very happy with it there but have since added even more shims and I am now at a whopping 2450psi where I will no longer be going any higher but do plan to stay there. Watch my “John Deere Vs. Kubota BX” video I did recently where I talk about where my pressure is at and I compare it to the John Deere at the stock pressure vs my increased pressure and I give my thoughts. Hope this helps!

    • @BiffsEquipment

      Haha yes .. with the front diff being an open differential you work always see all 4 tires turning.. usually one of the front sides will stay still while the other spins if you have a considerable amount of load on the opposite tire in the front. You can only lock the diff for the rear on tractors not the front.
      I have since then increased the thickness of the front diff fluid which helps it to not do this so easily.. this way it takes a bit more pressure to allow the front diff to only spin one wheel. Thanks for watching! New video coming soon!

I knew I was under ballasted but I know my operator skills and was 100% sure I could do it no problem but it def puts a lot more wear on the machine and front axle as well. I had the proper ballast for 2000psi pressure but then increased the pressure to 2250psi which put me over the limits of the current ballast I was using and never got around to buying a few more weights for the back.. plan to soon tho, thanks for watching!

    So wheel weights and tire loading are for traction...counter weigh on 3pl is to move load from front axle to rear axle as much as possible and aid low center of gravity. at one stage whole weight of tractor and load on front axle only.

      Absolutely.. I wouldn’t have dared to go down that hill otherwise.. in 2x4 once the rear tires come off the ground you’ll loose all braking power.. this is why it’s essential to have it in 4x4 anytime your carrying a heavy load specially if your going down hill

    Wow! I know the feeling when the back tires start to come off the ground. Remember, the front tires do not have brakes, so when you lift the back tires off the ground you risk a run away tractor. It helps that you have the 4WD engaged, but be careful.
    Before you toss the GoPro, get yourself a Samsung EVO SD card for your camera. Get one that is fast write speed. They will be rated for HD 4K video. I forget the spec off the top of my head, but maybe the problem you are having is with the SD card. Good Luck.

I woulda never tried to lift those logs with out being in 4x4 and certainly woulda never tried to go down the hill with out being in 4x4.. being in 4x4 is the only thing locking your rear wheels to your front wheels so going down the hill in 2x4 woulda meant me flying down and crashing at the bottom as my back wheels had little to no contact the whole way down on many of those trips. Also I use 4k SD cards but the camera is just a piece of junk. My first SD card was a Samsung EVO PRO and with that card my camera got super hot and froze Nearly every video I made.. over the winter I bought a ScanDisk extreme card which the camera has done much better since.. I thought that card finally fixed the freezing problems but this weekend as you saw it still froze and lost footage.. it was still much better than when I used the Samsung pro but it’s still freezing.. this is my second hero 7 black that’s done this and I’m now on my second very expensive High quality SD card and nothing seems to stop it from behaving this way.. I record in 4k which many of your guys don’t do either and 4k is much harder for the camera to record in and allows it to get quite hot.. this is when it freezes..
      I’m just gotta get a new camera and ditch this one as I’m tired of loosing valuable footage. Thanks for watching!

I have a DJI action cam, and a Sony digital SLR that I never use. I use the DJI mostly and my iPhone when I get around to doing a video. I actually do more videos then I post. I was already in 4x4 otherwise I woulda never been able to lift most those logs and backup and woulda went skidding down the hill to boot.. I didn’t go down backwards because it woulda been even more dangerous in my eyes because I had to Maneuver around a boat, a vent pipe, then had a right turn at the bottom of the hill so going down forward was much safer in this situation (in my eyes) .. I do need more ballast tho I agree there.. but Its not every day I lift loads this large.. just havnt gotten around to getting more suitcase weights yet.. they been hard to find since covid hit.

    I swear my bx hydraulic system is weak.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Brent, it very well may be weak.. mine was extremely weak too when I first bought my tractor used.. it wouldn’t lift much let’s just say that.. often times the hydraulic pressure isn’t set correctly from the factory and is much lower than it should be which leaves much to be desired with its lifting abilities.. you gotta go to bxpanded.com and buy yourself a pressure relief valve adjustment kit for about $70 off their website which comes with a pressure gauge and proper shims so that you can use the gauge to test your hydraulic pressure and use the shims to increase the hydraulic pressure if Necessary .. Its a very easy job to do and I also have made 2 or 3 videos on how exactly to do it and I explain how and why you would want to do this. The factory pressure is suppose to be around 1850-1900psi but a lot of these tractors will ship at just 1600psi which drastically lowers the amount of power the front hydraulics have.. couple that with the relief valve spring being fatigued from years of use and you can be looking at just 1500psi of front loader pressure which will make the hydraulics feel extremely weak.. I bumped my pressure up using the kit I mentioned above to over 2,200 psi and my tractor is a beast now for its size.. tho I don’t recommend anyone going higher than the factory rated pressure of 1900psi for safety reasons... if you do then you must know the safety concerns and Consequences of going that high. I hope this helps!

    BX LOADER TRACTOR IS NOT MADE TO PICKUP OR LIFT THAT KIND OF LOAD / BUT U CAN MAKE ANY TRACTOR DO MORE / ALL U ARE DOING WEARING OUT YOUR TRACTOR ALOT FAST !
    MY KUBOTA LOADER TRACTOR L2501 4X4 , GEAR DRIVE TRANMISSON ALOT MORE POWER THAN HST TRANMISSON
    MY PSI WAS 1750 NOW IS A BIT MORE 1800 PSI THAT ALL I NEEDED !

      Thats alright if it wears out or breaks ill fix it or buy a new one.. If I wasnt aware of the risks I wouldnt be taking them.. My pressure has been at 2,250psi now for well over a year and I work the living crap out of this little tractor and it keeps asking for more. Kubota builds great machines. Obviously 2 curl cylinders are better than 1 but I cant make Kubota change that.
