Anything I found, Id tell the owner standing in the waiting room, because if I put it in the cup holder, the other idiot working near me would steal it, so I'd just give any money to the owner, but I'll never forget that feeling I had when she drove off, I felt lower then dirt! I know self cleans aren’t to fun. My mom used to bring me and my siblings along, and we all had to put in effort to clean up her car. Mostly cause we make the mess. She would make me picks up coins, brothers pick up trash and vacuum, and my sister organize. My mom would pay for the vacuums, and help my sister. It isn’t the funnest but it is the safer choice.

As a former car detailer I’m gonna tell you straight up we don’t ever forget about money found in the car. The temptation to keep it or return it rings in our head the entire time. Any other property found in odd places are placed in the cup holder or middle counsel if you have any integrity. Don’t let people fool you saying they forgot and meant to return it. I use to feel so good about informing my customer that I even found a few quarters under the seat because the look of “Dang this a good person” makes you feel better then the feeling up coming up on quick cash

I am a car detailer as well. The temptation exists, but the honesty makes me feel so much better. I do take stuff from auction cars though (legally ours) and the general manager of the store lets me. It's interesting what i've found in auction cars and sometimes even more interesting in customer cars, but i'd never steal from my customers.

My mom used to bring me and my siblings along, and we all had to put in effort to clean up her car. Mostly cause we make the mess.
She would make me picks up coins, brothers pick up trash and vacuum, and my sister organize. My mom would pay for the vacuums, and help my sister.
It isn’t the funnest but it is the safer choice.

I worked installing car stereos for a few years. Was running some wires and found an envelope PACKED with 100s. It crossed my mind for about 1 second, but I left it on the floorboard and told the customer about it when they returned. He said he thought he'd lost it like 8 months ago. Really didn't seemed all that thrilled and didn't tip me. Damn it....

firebirdude2 i know the feeling man. Last year around christmas time i found a wallet with money in it and it was pack the wallet was thick i didnt look through his wallet. I found him on facebook and told him i found his wallet he said he will be there in 10 minutes. Well that 10 minute was over 1 hour and not even a thanks. It was almost 7 pm when he pull into walmart and i pull into walmart at 5:28. I always do the right thing and i dont even think about taking someone hard earn money it just piss me off i wait over 1 hour and i didnt even get a thanks.
I saw a guy on a bike drop a plastic bag on the floor when he took his phone out his pocket, I walked over and saw it was a moneybag with £320 in it. The guy was nowhere to be seen and I've never saw him since. I was -£70 in the bank so at least it helped somehow ;p

As a former car detailer I’m gonna tell you straight up we don’t ever forget about money found in the car. The temptation to keep it or return it rings in our head the entire time. Any other property found in odd places are placed in the cup holder or middle counsel if you have any integrity. Don’t let people fool you saying they forgot and meant to return it. I use to feel so good about informing my customer that I even found a few quarters under the seat because the look of “Dang this a good person” makes you feel better then the feeling up coming up on quick cash

I am a car detailer as well. The temptation exists, but the honesty makes me feel so much better. I do take stuff from auction cars though (legally ours) and the general manager of the store lets me. It's interesting what i've found in auction cars and sometimes even more interesting in customer cars, but i'd never steal from my customers.

All kinds of cool little trinkets I’ve given to my ex at the time, you are 100% correct when it comes to the customers, they and their property deserve the kind of respect I would wish to be given.
