I have read about deer horse hybrids from a few hundred years ago but if it is possible I imagine the offspring are often not viable and die soon after birth.
Reminds me of a colt that I once owned, his best friend was a fawn, they would play all over the pasture while their mothers Expressed their displeasure by snorting and stomping. It was hilarious!!

Haha, yup..Matriarchs are primarily in charge.. 20 years with deer, they are similar but very different from horses in ways..I love my deer family, they have taught me so much about their language, development, tactics and diet that I never found in acedemia..they are amazing animals .. we work together & I support the matriarch with little conveniences such as trail/bedding area maintenance. Where I put leaf piles, where I put $2 bag of Walmart generic topsoil, & offering a Himalayan salt block for sodium, iodide, and minerals helps their health AND they destroy the stumps I put the block on.. My Matriarch is head of security, does a daily forensic check of the property, has busted & tracked multiple trespassers who have "mucked around", vandalized, or stolen items from the property..she tracked down someone who stole plants from our garden.... she also singled out a young boy who made a fort on the property while she was away..THAT got her riledup!! I laughed, I knew who did it, but she investigated that neighborhood family..singled out the little boy (out of the siblings, neighbor boy, parents) When anything changes, she's on it, blowing & referencing, investigating! Gotta love them! As good as a K9 in ways!

I believe this elk is what is called a raghorn, probably 3 yrs old, each year after this he will get bigger and bigger untill he's around 10 yrs old then he will gradually start going down hill. He's having a ball showing off for this horse, probably wants the horse to come out and play... By the way who are the 36 IDIOTS that gave this a thumbs down.

That hay is too dusty to feed to a horse, look at all that dust that rises up when the elk hits it. Feeding dusty hay leads to lung problems and heaves.
that elk was doing the hay a big favor by tossing it around. that hay would kill a horse! not all big bales are dusty tho, depends on how dry the hay was, this stuff wasn't dry enough.

When the horse walks around, if you look closely, it's a gelding (male)!
It's a young elk and can't hang yet. So it found a place to chill and practice. Their antlers get bigger with age..his aren't even full size yet.

I used to have a small farm out where there were lots of elk and horses. This is pretty common. Our Aussie shepherd kept elk away from our horses.
