- Today I'm blind reacting to a video with some impressive singers using some vocal techniques that I don't think many of us singers can do...at least not yet. What's your favourite?

My respect level for you has gone up 10-fold. That shirt is freaking awesome
I’d like to second that!
I’d like to third that 😛
I LOVE THE SPONGE BOB FLAMINGO SHIRT TOO! ❤❤❤❤
I love it too
lol ❤
Mongolian, or Tuvan throat singing is an amazing traditional style of singing. When you are with people live doing it, it is the most amazing thing to feel all over your body. And there's a bit of throat singing in some Tanzanian traditional singing too.
I'm teaching myself to do Tuvan. As far as main styles, Kargyraa is the hardest core style to nail cause consistently projecting very low tones is difficult (for me at least), Khoomei & Sygyt are a lot more comfortable. There's nothing quite like hearing the Sygyt whistle coming out of your throat 😁
The faces you made attempting to produce those notes 😂😂😂😂😂 I'm dead. You really are a brilliant entertainer, all around!
I’m crying laughing 😂😂😂😂😂 cool shirt/ squeaky chair/ the Hoff / and Justin serving the laughs. ❤ The best
Oh man my belly hurts😅. That was definitely the funniest thing I've seen today.
I love this Channel❤.
In regards to Taty, the woman metal singer, she is not doing vocal fry in that particular section. She is using the false folds to distort the sound. To activate them, you have to push your tongue back in your mouth, in the beginning. After a time, you will just be able to throw in distortion anytime you like, if you practice a lot. That is my experience with it, as I sing along to lots of metal singers that use distortion in their vocal tract. I can bring in different levels of distortion, from very light to a heavy growl, as I like to call it. It is a lot of fun to do, and boy do people look at you weird! lol
I don't know about the others but Avi kaplan has said his overtone singing is achieved by placing his tongue behind his bottom teeth and gently moving side to side. He says that's not that difficult but controlling and actually making melody with it takes time. He was the bass of Pentatonix (an Acapella group) and he used overtones a lot to achieve fuller bass and growls and whistle sounds.
Hi Justin I covered your song, "I believe In a thing called love" for my music performance today in school, I just wanna say thanks for the amazing music you brought into my life, u give me hope that maybe one day I can be a great musician like you!
The two notes bit had me in stitches. Really laughed until I cried. Laughter aside this is all so damn impressive!
David Lee Roth's early screams were dual tone and it sounded awesome!
Anna-Maria Hefele is an overtone-singer who can perform really quite complicated melodies, she's amazing!
I saw some of her videos awhile back. Amazing ability. I bet she could sing with The Hu.
👍
Loved this video, such amazing voices! Fun watching Justin try to reproduce these sounds.👍😁
That was a great vocal fry face!!!!! You nailed the technique!!!
This was hilarious. Justin, your vocal fry during the Jinjer clip was everything. I’m going to remember it for next time I need another good laugh. That was amazing. 😂
The faces you were making during this video are just something else 😂😂
Thanks! I’ve been around awhile, and have never Thanked You for all of it! Too much to list. 🥰 I can’t sing or play, but I’ve been listening for 70+ years! Love U, man ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much Carol! xx
Your facial expressions are priceless as you attempt the techniques!
That dissonant interval in the intro theme's third chord is wonderful, it sounds like the face you're making at 6:26
Thoroughly enjoyed you attempting these 😁
There's nothing unremarkable about your glamorous rock music! 💛
🤣 just what I needed this morning. Justin Hawkins learning to throat sing.
Your death-growl was the highlight of my day. Thank you. Now on to yodeling
It sounds like he's trying to do Mongolian throat singing
You've made my day, again. Love your content.👏
You just had me cry-laughing in the office when you got to the part with Tatiana from Jinjer. Great video 🙂
Good day to you all it’s Justin Fucking Hawkins Rides Againnnn 🎶🎶🎶
Amazing talents. My favourite image is Justin looking astounded at how amazingly talented these people are. Wish I could sing like that…..
Haha Justin, you really make my any time of day! :D Could watch you trying different singing techniques whenever.
I think I have found your new profile picture there at 06:38! I guffawed. You made me cry actual tears with that chin forward face. Thanks for brightening my day.
06:26 is hilarious, too.
Tim Storms seems a cat purring🐈⬛🤣
I'm literally crying of
laughter!!! 🤣🤣🤣 This is one of your best videos, thank you, I needed that booster today. But take care of your voice trying to emulate that impossible sounds😊. For me yodelling is incredibly funny and hard to try (you were close to it in a past video, I think it was in the AI quiz one)👍Brilliant!❤
Another inspiring video. Attempted the yodeling, but could hear some neighborhood dogs joining in. My husband just shook his head and closed the window. Better to ease into the "vocal fry" when he's not at home. I looove the podcast. The shirt is a knockout.
You truly are a magical creature sir. Quality content
you're no slouch bruh..your singing & range on I Believe In A Thing Called Love is friggin amazing-Darkness should cover Hocus Pocus by Focus, dude you could nail it
This was the most entertained I've been all day! 😂❤
Thxs for all ur hard work
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✊✊✊✊👍👍👍👍👍
Thxs for riding again Justin
From Prescott AZ
This was hilarious. Thank you for the laughs!
You made me laugh & cry simultaneously hitting your two unharmonious notes.. well done!
😂
👍
this was one of my favorite episodes so far, just watching you mimicking the singers was pure gold, but what sealed it as a true classic was when the vibrator spontaneously turned on in your drawer. dont deny it, it was the unmistakable sound of a half charged rampant rabbit rattling around on timber.
Justin, this is an awesome entertaining video!!!!!
Living in Switzerland ,, learning to YODEL is a MUST !
Hysterical, thank you for the laughs,, love you, x
I laughed so hard during the Jinger portion i clicked off the video by mistake. your facial expressions are priceless. LMAO! :)
Your shirt is fabulous, and so is your willingness to attempt these techniques on camera -- I laughed so loudly I scared the cat. I find polyphonic singing amazing, but I gotta admit I've never understood why people get excited by whistle tone singing. It sounds like one of those musical saws but thinner and less pleasing to my ear.
Do a search on Mongolian throat singing, and you'll hear some interesting stuff.
The HU!!!🤘
The first thing to comment in the episode of today is your Bob Esponja shirt, really cool ❤
I have laughed a lot watching you to try these voice thecniques... Some of them are very hard to listen in my point of view! Good luck with the construction in your home!
OMG You made my day! 🤘
This reaction made my whole week! 😂
Myles Kennedy hitting that impossible note and holding it during the Albert Hall performance would have been a good one.
6:15 Best impression of Prince (soon to be Monarch) Charles' vocal pause mannerisms I've heard in a while. Right on ☺
Tried all of them with you.... the dog has officially left home!! 🤪
LOVE your SpongeBob shirt! 😍😍😍 This is deadset your funniest review yet! There’s an element of Lurch from The Addams Family about your performance 😂😂😂
I would love to see the looks on the builders faces in the room next door when you were attempting these different vocals hahaha
You never fail to put a smile on my face 😊
This was a particularly good video!
Best thing I have seen in ages. JH harmonising with himself and attempting a Frank Ifield impersonation!!
The first singer, Lala Hathaway, is Donny Hathaway's daughter. Check out her performance with Snarky Puppy for something truly amazing.
And I love the yodelers! Yodeling is so underappreciated.
Lalah Hathaway is PHENOMENAL live!
Oh my. That vocal fry part is hilarious!!!! 😂😂😂
Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance has a very unique vocal ability. I love her voice.
Cheers, Justin!!!😊🫶
That was hilarious! Nice one!
Me I can whistle AND put a sorta hum sound behind/below it. Hard to describe 😂
Great shirt and attempts! Practice, practice! 😂❤
Looking forward to the yodeling on the new Darkness album!!
I love seeing people do new things.
You’re killin me trying to copy what they’re doing. Hahahaha!!!! Laughed so loud I made my dog bark. Brilliant work!!! God you’re the best Mr. Hawkins. Cheers.
The attempts at singing 2 notes were hilarious, but I feel there was a missed opportunity to use the drill in the next room as a 3rd note 😄
Beautiful shirt Justin...you are so cool...funny video!!!
“You know how to whistle, don’t ya? Ya just put your lips together and blow…”
-Lauren Bacall
Love that kinda Mongolian overtone throat singing! I managed to get some overtones when I experimented with such techniques one time
Dude you had me laughing out loud!
Damn- what a tease with the thumbnail! I thought you were gonna react to the band Jinjer! Oh well- hilarious video just the same:)! Cheers!
Funny😂😂😂 i watched all 3 parts of this with my daughter this week. Incredible sounds. My daughter could hit some of the high notes i failed completely. 😮 i think though that the high notes are all about constriction and less breath. Whistle pitch was something to do with a pig squaling and a creaky door but i still cant do it😮 i cant hit most of your notes either though justin. You have a stunning voice. Loved this episode. Thanks again justin❤❤❤
Got to love Justin ! A real dude in a fake realm . One love ❤
LMAO!!! 7:22 Anyone else every find something so funny you just keep rewatching it for like twenty minutes. Oh my gawd. We need so much more of Justin Hawkins trying to mimic sounds. 7:22 had me dying.
Yes, I do that too. 6:39 🤣
Justin, please continue to practice (and film) these techniques 😂 Avi's singing was the most exciting to me; sounded kind of like human bagpipes!
That whistle staccato gets used in the Queen of the Night aria from the Magic Flute. There are a number of great videos. I'd love to see you give overtone a try.
I can whistle through my nose. Discovered I could do it as a kid. It’s a weird technique, I sort of purse my larynx and carefully control my breath so it resonates in my sinuses. Yes, I can do tunes. I’m not as good as I used to be, I think I’m out of practice
Hilarious Justin!!! I thought you were going to morph into Smeagol from Lord of the Rings there for a minute 🤣
Amazing stuff. Glen Velez is a master of the Tuvan throat (overtone) singing, as well. To add insult to injury, he often does it while kicking ass on a bodhran or whatever other frame drum happens to be in his general vicinity.
😂 I`m laughing my ass off. Nice one!
My day has just started and I'm already laughing 😂
Good Fun. Well Done (Subbed)
Polyphonic overtones- singing two notes at the same time- Janis Joplin could do it. I don’t know how it is done, but it is a very rare talent. Listen to Janis Joplin opening notes for Cry Baby and you will clearly hear it.
That wasn’t her singing two notes. That was the gruff of Southern Comfort and Cigarettes, creating a lower note. 🤣
Used to have a huge crush on Janis, just an amazing singer and so cute, with passion in her vocals rarely seen these days.
Bonnie Raitt did it for some time too

"Manly" hardly Manly and what does that situation have to do with what gender she looks or acts like? Did you see her when she was in her 20s? She was and is a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul. But each to there own mate.
@@libertymedicalcommunicatio4908
Yep she did.
This video is worth it just for the vocal fry faces. And of course the awesome Spongebob shirt.
I find the whistle tone comes easiest when I pull a toe nail out while holding a banana and peanut butter sandwich. Really simple actually, and I don't know why other people don't do it more often.
(seriously though the human voice is incredible. and so is a banana and peanut butter sandwich.)
Mr Hawkins,love your channel.
Your two voice attempt was almost exactly the noise of the evil in the woods in Evil Dead 2 😂
Perfect short but sweet theme song today!
Superb shirt JH
I did the 2 note thing once when I had bronchitis. But the yodeling girls were totally wow. Thanks mate.
Love Avi - did in Pentatonix and he's amazing solo too; also Jinjer are phenomenal - just brilliant
Tibetan Monks throat singing is like overtone singing. That's great to hear. Love your shirt.
The funniest sh*t I've ever seen. Nice one Jussy!
Maybe do a video on Mongolian throat singing? There's a band called The Hu that utilize it well...the singer is awesome, but also the technique has started popping up in death metal, with James Dorton from Black Crown Initiate and also Allegeon utilizing it(not sure if it's the vocalist or the bassist performing it as both do vocals)
So funny Justin! Reminded me of Focus by Hocus Pocus! Let’s see you hit those notes! And there’s yodelling to boot! I double dog dare you!
I needed some humor so bad, why in the hell can't i find any on YT? Kidding. Justin you are tops in my book. PS my vocal technique is to mimic a toad as its being driven over by a car.
Overtone singing comes from throat singing. Tuvan, Tibetan Throat singers who have been doing this type of singing for centuries. There's a Mongolian Heavy Metal band, Hu.. If you haven't heard them yet you should check them out. They are really good. You should also listen to some of the throat singing done in duets by the Alaskan indigenous women. It's amazing. They put their heads together and trade sounds back and forth really fast. Very rhythmic and very beautiful. Imititating sounds of their environment.
Absolutely love Tatiana and her band Jinger, they are amazing and she can growl like a man, pretty impressive.
If you're looking for unusual sounds and voices, check out Mongolian Heavy Metal band The Hu they sing using traditional Mongolian throat singing. Makes for awesome unusual sound mixed with metal. Loving the channel Justin thanks.
Came here to say this Sally - The HU are beast!!!
Nice shirt Justin! Question for comments day: why do you always change the name of all videos after uploading them? it's hard to keep track which ones I've already watched ;) haha love your channel😊
I'm also curious about this!
6:11 here for this content. 😂
Polyphonic singing has been around for a long time. Mongolian Tuvan throat singing, for example.
You’re hilarious. Thanks for the laugh 😂😂
