My Response To My Voice Being STOLEN!!

- Опубліковано 26 вер 2024
- I have been made aware that my voice has been stolen by AI and someone has created some covers using my AI generated voice. I'm going to react to these creations to see if AI Jussy is up to scratch.
Thanks to @MrManRock for creating these!

Now you need to actually cover Killer Queen yourself and show them how it's done.
YES PLEASE
And "The Touch" while he's at it!
Justin Hawkins covers Killer Queen in the style of the band The Killers (as A.I. Justin Hawkins)
@@Music-tg5is it really really did sound like the Killers
Absolutely!
Your observation about the AI voices just hitting the note with no feeling is spot on. Singing well is a lot more than just being on pitch, the best performers really play with delivery, punch, and feeling.
Problem is that most modern pop music is auto tuned anyway and kids do not really seem to care about feeling in the music anymore.. A.I. Music should be banned
Right you listen to it and at first glance it is like oh wow...thats pretty go...oh wait, not really.
@@kirkwilson8738 Banned by whom? Is your plan to simply delete the internet? AI will continue to improve, the feeling will come.
You also don't appear to know very much about modern pop music...
Everybody says that, but it's meaninglessness. The technology is new, it will get a lot better at hitting inflection, pitch etc etc.
It's also incorrect.
AI is as flat as the source voice, it copies every inflection, vibrato, imperfection.
If the driving voice has an accent, the AI generated voice will have the same exact accent.
If the driving voice is a speech in another language, the AI voice will appear to speak the same exact language.
If the result is flat, it means the feeding voice is flat, which is not really the case with Freddy Mercury.
The only real takeaway from this AI experiment for me is the fact that we now need The Darkness to do a proper cover of Killer Queen!!! 😁 Pwetty please? 🙏🏻🥰
Even without AI pointing it out, I’ve always thought that Justin and Freddie’s voices and vocal ranges are in the same sort of musical ballpark. An opinion that was cemented for me by Justin’s rendition of Under Pressure at Taylor Hawkins’ tribute show. So much so that every time I hear that song now, I think of Justin’s performance in complete awe that he managed to do justice to both Freddie Mercury and David Bowie’s parts all at once. 🤯 Incredible.
And yes, Justin, we do all love you! 😉🥰💖
🦅🤓…
🦅🤓...! 😂
Don't worry about AI, we're all on your soide.
👏👏👏
😆
Tbf, that's exactly how we say it here in the West Midlands.
Maybe AI has picked up out some previously-unknown Black Country roots?
😅
You absolutely nailed that sounding a bit like Brandon Flowers there! Never before considered him singing Queen, but I'd definitely be into it. They should take that act on the road if for no other reason than calling it The Killers Queen Tour!
Hahaha that is a great idea😂
Brendon Urie(Panic! At the disco) is also in that vocal arena and has covered Queen live, quite impressive too
Happy to hear you mention Jellyfish. They're a fantastic band and massively underappreciated.
Hell yeah! I can't believe it's been 30 years since the Spilt Milk album, which I love!
You are an *international* treasure! As someone who cannot stand the sound of their own voice, these deepfake AI voices have unlocked a whole new nightmare for me.
Same. 🤣
But how funny would it be to hear Frank Sinatra and Joan Baez singing Paradise By The Dashboard Light.
You're spot on...feeling can't be synthesised. Your actual voice is much better than the AI simulation!
They can never duplicate you dear Justin. I think there is no better rock singer than you, period. Looking forward to the beginning of your peak next year. The fact that they used your voice, or tried, is a high compliment.
never! till next year.
I'm appalled!
No one and nothing can compare to your brilliance and musicianship Justin!
Much love to you Mr. Hawkins❤ ❤
Thanks for a good Sunday morning laugh!! I’m a huge Queen fan.. as well as a fairly new Darkness fan too. All of these song bits sounded like a unwell Freddie.. except the last one.. which sounded like an unwell you! I’ve accepted that AI is inevitable.. but ugh! I’ll just keep listening to all the old stuff; and few of the new artists who are doing live (no auto-tune) songs!!
Justin, your channel is fantastic! I’ve played in many bands over the years and I ALWAYS play I Believe In A Thing Called Love during soundcheck when the sound guy asks for my guitar. Everyone there always goes nuts!!! EVERYONE joins in when it gets to “touching you-ooooh ooooh oooh”
You know someone is a real Queen fan when they can tell the 70s Freddie Mercury voice from the 80s voice.
“Doesn’t sound like me at all. I’m getting more of a Freddie vibe.”
Yeah, one of the main reasons I smashed that subscribe button a year ago. 🤣
“I’m doing a good job here” and “I’m quite pleased with this performance even though it’s a robot”….😂
The abba Hawkins mercury band is basically my music taste
I guess we will need some Darkness Queen covers to really be sure Justin... ;)
Yes we do! They would smash Bohemian Rhapsody! Imagine Justin slaying the guitar solos and falsetto parts!
I'm genuinely surprised either you solo or the darkness has never covered a queen song, I mean talk about a band tailor made to your sound, you guys would kill it.
That first ai does what I do when I sing along to the darkness, get to the iconic high notes and go nmnnnnnn😂😂😂😂😂
It's all fun and games with a coke and a smile now, but this is all gonna lead to some massive industry shifting/changing or even breaking problems when it fully matures. If AI can create the perfect vocal, a track, and all a clueless chump has to do whilst sat with his hands down his pants is to type in some lyrics to create the next Bohemian Rhapsody or whatever, the industry will have to step up and lobby for control and regulations on this. Mix in perfectly generated AI humans, AI generated videos, holographic stage performances, we'll raise a next generation of kids thinking its weird/cringe to see a real human sing or play music.
That's my cynical dystopian take on it, I could be wrong, but how else is this gonna go.
You explained it crystal clear...it also worries me if no regulations are set around this new technology
ha! The psychopaths running the industry will be *precisely* the people who use this technology to squeeze every last penny out of an artist that they can, while giving the artist the shaft financially.
You forget all those things Pink Floyd tried to teach you way back in the day with their lyrics...
Welcome to the machine...there is a reason that song is completely haunting, hollow. and eerie. Those were the words of an industry executive welcoming the band into the "fold", if you will of a multibillion dollar industry and trying to make them believe they weren't being exploited. The lyrics were those of a stone cold, ruthlessly greed driven psychopath who cared about no one and nothing but egregious profits.
@leth2753 I mean... not wanting to be a contrarian, but I didn't forget anything about Pink Floyd teaching me something, they're way before my time and not my thing! But I assume you raise a valid theory and observation. But either way, if execs use this to further grind on real artists or push them harder, imo that's a preferable result to complete obsolescence of human performing arts.
If AI can write, sing and produce, then no person is required other than the one that selects the tick boxes regarding style and hits 'create'. The other person necessary will be a good lawyer
Art is not in perfection. I think we're good for a little while.
Thanks a lot for your feedback Mr Hawkins! Your reaction was indeed a huge and a very pleasant surprise for me!
I am a huge fan since 2003. Seen you opening for Lady Gaga in Moscow just to see The Darkness. It was Dan’s birthday that day. So as they say: From Russia with love!☺️
P.S. What to the Killer Queen’s chorus’ harmony, never used an autotune whatsoever. Since Freddie’s original vocals already had some FX on them it was just automatically transferred to your AI generated voice.
Classic quote: "it's really exciting to.. sort of imagine that somebody has wasted 5 to 6 minutes of their time generating these things." 😂
Ain't nothing like the real thing baby...
Listening from my phone, it still sounds like mostly Freddie with only few % of your voice. Did they not completely remove Freddie from the track first?
Justin! Loving your content! ❤
I guess the reason you felt like it was more Freddie-like in the third song than you is because of the method to get the AI songs.
They feed a library of your voice to an AI, then use the original Queen song and ask the AI to replace it, so it ends up with the tone and enunciation of the original one, in this case, Freddie.
It sounds like Freddie doing a Justin impression tbh :/ :D
Now we need a video of you doing bits of these songs showing the A.I how it's really done.
Nice to see a fellow watch nerd here as well!
Justin, your voice is a perfect fit for Queen. When they brought in Adam Lambert, I vociferously said, Nooooooooo. And you have the the presence to be in the front. I will forever be a fan of you and your vocals. When you post, I get overwhelmed with your technical skills. You are an awesome teacher!
6:59 omg 😮
The Transformers soundtrack?
I didn't think I could love Justin more but somehow he manages it in every video 🤣
I don’t think it sounds much like you Justin. The occasional note almost goes into the right territory but if I was shown this out of context I’d never guess it was supposed to be you.
We always loved you man. Then and now.
‘Let them eat cake, she said…AND PASS THE MUSTARD!’ 😂🔥⚡️
Freddy and Michael Jackson recorded a song together that was never released,... it was never finished. Freddy had enough of Michael bringing his pet llama to the studio everyday, so he didnt go back to finish it
XD
i’ve been waiting for this!! so excited 😮
It sounds like for the harmony, they simply copied and pitch shifted a single vocal track. If I were doing it, I would have "generated" a new track for each harmonizing track, so it would sound more natural and no have that digital too-perfect autotune sound.
The rapidity of the Stan Bush observation gave me great pleasure
best one in a while man! any time you name drop Jellyfish, Transformers: The Movie soundtrack and Queen in the same video you're in for 10 stars. how about The Darkness covering "The Touch"? or "Dare". Damn that soundtrack was brilliant. The Travis cover of Killer Queen was quite cute back in the day too. takes balls to even attempt it much less make it decent.
01:11 How well you know us, Justin!😊❤🫶
You're right that some of these processes are merely imposing a timbre through formant shifting, without having a single clue as to what "expression" is. It is apeing the original, essentially, ignorant of why the original *worked*. Without nudging by a human at the wheel, the synthetic performance will either impart none of the affectations ("choices", even!) that make your performance *yours*, or apply snippets of past recordings in head-scratching, nonsensical ways.
Freddie AI doing Aha-Take on me is literally eerie. My heart will go on is also very good
JH AI covering Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah would be an intriguing musical experiment. Doing Queen covers is a bit too close to the musical comfort zone.
Might be Justin’s tone, but it’s still Fred’s cadence and enunciation. Also the reason why they’re singing with a Swedish lilt in the second song.
I’d be interested to hear an AI version of the Guns & Roses Glastonbury performance from this weekend but having it try an mimic Axls voice from the 80s/90s
Great video. The second AI sounds like Fergal Sharkey singing a killer's song.
Full Mr.T!! 😂 I do adore watching & listening to you! The whole AI thing is just crazy, yes close but I’m old school & love hearing the real deal boogers & all!! Just keep riding… again & again Justin Hawkins!! 💜
You definitely need to have 'similar style' vocalists for it to work. Ozzy Osbourne singing a Ronnie James Dio era Black Sabbath song for example would probably sound wrong. Theres so many little nuances in a vocalists voice that sound weird artificially transposed onto another singer - including accents! still, i have to admit, its pretty exciting hearing singers sing stuff they might never normally sing regardless of how hit and miss it is. I like to hear Justin singing never turn your back on mother earth by the Sparks! :D
He’s got a pretty difficult vocal style to emulate, the AI tends to avoid falsetto unless the vocal it’s replacing also is a heavy falsettist his AI would actually probably work really well on a muse or early maroon 5 song
I just need to take a moment to appreciate the fact that I'm not the only one on the planet who knows who the Jellyfish are. Thank you for that.
I know of Jellyfish. I worked for their producer Albhy Galuten.
@@patm5086 I'm such a fan. I had them playing in a heavy rotation around my kids when they were little. Proud to say some of the next generation knows who they are too. SOOO much love for them.
6:44 Stan Bush the Touch! 😂
That soundtrack is one of the best things from the 80’s
I love that Justin admits the ABBA AI track is brilliant while bobbing his head to the tune. It is quite a catchy mix.
Oh man, it's so true: you totally have to do an ABBA covers album!! ☺
You've got the Touch from Transformers....thats a deep cut, im impressed
1:34 Wow. No-one I know remembers Jellyfish. They are on regular rotation on my headphones.
Also Jellyfish RULES and I’m so happy you know them!
What I'm noticing is that the AI is using the pronunciation of the original vocals, mixed with the pronunciation of the sampled vocalist. This was especially audible on the Abba song.
That's certainly part of the reason the accent sounds slightly off.
Stan Bush is so powerful the energy of the song influenced ABBA through quantum entanglement.
They still can't do it live, and that's the way to fight against it.
Having mentioned the Touch by Stan Bush, I'd be up for hearing you cover that. The fleshy you obviously, not a robot. Although, the idea of a robot covering a song featured in a movie about robots would be somewhat poetic.
Oh yeah, btw... now you definitely have to record your own, real version of it. With no more trickery than Queen had at their disposal.
2:41 fucking luv it. 😂
I ALWAYS thought you sounded like Freddy Mercury! As a kid I wanted them to reboot Flash Gordon and The Darkness to do a version of the song for it.
Jenny May Finn is the wonder woman 😂, this has been an awsome choice. Justin Hawkins listening his AI version!!!
In my opinion the first one was acceptable, Killer Queen is a great song and your AI version did it right.
The duet Freddie/ Justin... the simple idea to listen you singing with Freddie is a dream even it be in AI. The third one (i forgot what song was) but it is the moment when the AI got crazy and mixed both voices... I still can visualize the system in this way 😵😵💫🤯
And Sticky Situations, one of my favourites songs of your last album, it was the real test for the AI... and it passed but with limits. You analized better than i did the difference between real voice and AI generated voice (because you talk by the knowledge). It won't never be equal, i don't think you are going to lost your employment Justin 😂
And finally, i have been watching the videos of your show of yesterday. Those things that you do on the stage never will be able to be generated by AI. Congrats to you and your guys of The Darkness ❤. I wish you can add Spain or i get money by the lottery and can travel to watch you to some other country 😂.
Long live to live music🎸🥁🎤, i don't like the tin music! 💻
This video was excellent! You critiquing A.I. you is legendary. The expression of satisfaction on your face when A.I Freddy gave you the first verse was brilliant. I reckon the second one sounded like the The Killers as well. Another great video. Please don't ever let A.I Justin take over! The real you is so much more brilliant.
This basically just works by switching original phonemes for the machine learned ones. So the performance is almost exactly the same as the original, for example the inflections, vibratos, intonation, etc. The only thing that's being changed is just the timbre (colour) of a particular voice part.
Justin we haven't had a comments day in a while sir! I really want to ask about the setlist for the upcoming PTL20 tour. What is the "best of the rest". Would you consider a fan vote to play a song? I know there are alot that fans want to hear that may not be one of your preferred songs to play live.
You’re awesome Justin! Love your reviews
Squeeeee -Stan Bush reference❤😊
I doubt there’s any need to worry about A.I. replacing you- no robot could ever have your personality or stage presence or look as good in a catsuit for starters🤖😂
There is no replacement for a REAL voice and real performances!
Robots/AI should be built to alleviate work pressure from mediocre jobs so us humans have more time for creative endeavors. Robots/AI should not be used for taking away the creative aspect of being human. Though I'd like to see you cover Killer Queen now.
“She keeps Moët et Chandon…”
That sounds like _you_ and Freddie. You do an excellent Freddie.
(Killer Queen _is_ off Sheer Heart Attack.)
Can I skip the Abba part? I loathe their sound.
“Confuser” - 😂 I’ve used that term. This one sounds more like Freddie than you.
Yep, more Freddie on the second Queen song.
More Freddie on the next song, too. Are we sure that they didn’t steal Freddie’s voice?
You nailed his voice on Under Pressure live.
I fink they should have used that AI voice on a Darkness song, and see if it sounds like you or Freddie.
@@SuziQ.ey!!👋 How is it going?😊 The other day I watched something that reminded me of you. What's your opinion on that girl who plays Metallica songs with a bagpipe?😁😁😁 Did it help you change your mind about that instrument?🥰
Edit to add:🙏just kidding😇😉
I think your producer is passive-agressively warning you about slacking off on your upload schedule.
Could this be an option, it already is, but more actively for aging, dead singers to release works posthumously and keep control of royalties? Adding a unique mark, such as a blockchain on it to control the "Justin AI" ?
Is that a massive David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight cut-out to the right of screen - and if not, why not?
It is. It’s Justin’s guitar stand.
"Why does it sound like I'm on the Killer?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️
No IA can replace the wonderful voices o Freddie and Justin.....
This sounds fantastic! Yeah no falsetto allowed, just pure Justin!
Justin @ 8:57 agree with you A.I. has a "tinny flat sound".No where near the same as organic human sound
I’m worried about ai as I’m an artist (illustratration\animation) u think it needs regulation, to save people’s work and jobs. This did however make me want a darkness cover of the transformers soundtrack so, get on it Hawkins !
It's pretty much what I would expect from AI technology: a watered down imitation that does quite well with some parts but completely misses in other areas and lacks soul/feeling where it really matters.
I believe the phrase, "Close but no cigar" applies. It's not quite there.
They’re having a lot of FUN over at Mr. Man Rock! 🤣😂 It’s like the aural version of the Hipgnosis book Rock Dreams.
😂 love the reactions ❤ "because I'm laaaazy!"
The vibrato sounds like freddies
I thought exactly the same thing you thought about the Stan Bush! A masterful slice of 1980's awesomeness
You've Got the Touch made me shit myself
Tone and timbre are spot on but AI sounds soulless. "Do computers dream of electronic speep?"❤
This is absolutely insane
Oh no I’ve been down the AI rabbit hole for a couple of hours now, I started with Frank Sinatra singing Thriller and decided to call it a night with eric carman singing virtual insanity. 😂
AI better not quit it's day job. They picked two nearly inimitable voices to cover and failed to be as good. I may be biased, as I am a human, though.
Pleaaaase add Sticky Situations back on the next set list that you may or may not play in Barrowlands... ;)
I'll sing it if you don't want to! 😅
Pass the mustard and save the horses.
Interestingly, the ai is normally based on the original performance so a good chuck of the descrepancies in pronunciations such as "side" maybe due to how the original one was sung!
me, I'm busy checking you & Freddie out in costume! btw Freddie's in red & white striped short shorts w/suspenders.
The Killers was such a good comparison... exactly who I think I'm listening to.
i listen to that Stan Bush transformers song in the gym all the time. good reference.
Honestly, I didn't even know who Justin was 2 weeks ago. I kind of still don't, but I love his videos, and especially his intro. I got caught singing "Justin Hawkins rides again..... Aaaagggggain" and my Co workers asked me who is Justin Hawkins? Lol
It was pretty spot on version of your voice in the early 3000’s. Queen was already similar sounding so it was really subtle and even the worst ons sounded like you doing an impression of Freddie.
I’m sure the guy who put that together spent way more time than you think he did to dial it in that good. If he worked out the kinks in it, it could be a much better option for you to generate backup vocals, because it sounded spot on with the pitch, but didn’t give off the fake AutoTune or aggressive Melodyne tweaking. This is the future of pitch correction, because you can generate harmonies and scratch vocals with these and hear what it could sound like and then you could record a real take.
Obviously, you're much better than this AI, but it still sounded a lot like 2003 Hawkins!! Love it!
Any mention of Jellyfish is fine with me. Killer Queen sounds like JH with Bell's palsy...
Hey Justin, do you recall "Is it real, or is it memorex?" I am concerned that future generations may come to expect perfection from vocalists even live. Part of the amazing live performance is the fact that it can be a "little rough around the edges".
I can't believe he sung a bit of Stan Bush's 'The Touch'.
