I’m impressed with Marc’s carpentry skills, it is lovely to have wood from your own estate on the walls, a decision that will make you happy for years to come. You are all a delight to watch.

I love what you are doing to make the wall in keeping with the age of the coach home and using wood from your salvaged pieces. It’s going to look beautiful. I loved the chorus of the children!! I keep saying this, but you are a lovely family, and great parents!! xx

I love your sense of humor. As a nurse, I agree with the suggestions of wearing glasses, hearing protection and a mask for both health and safety. Really impressed that you doing this with two small kids. No matter how long it takes, I’m sure it will be amazing 🤩 Thanks for sharing 😍😘

My husband and I try to gather what we need from our place also, to save money, for one reason. It's so satisfying to do things ourselves. He is like Marc and can do most things for which I am so grateful. Everything you are doing looks fantastic and I love watching you all, such a sweet and loving family. You have accomplished so much!. Love you all. Janice from Arkansas USA

Hello Amy and Marc, my 83 y.o mother loves watching your vlogs, she loves the menagerie, the interchange between you both and your lovely children. She is very impressed with your work ethic and she can't get over how much energy you have Amy, when pregnant and after. Thanks very much, we have both spent quite a bit of time in France when my brother lived there and was married a lovely frenchwoman who shared so much of her culture with us. Mum is quite restricted these days so your vlogs (as we watch old ones to catch up as well as the latest) give her a great deal of pleasure. Merci mille fois!

You bring back so many memories of the remodel/construction process and all the myriad decisions that have to be made. I remember thinking it was almost as tiring to make decisions as it was to do the work. Luckily for me this all took place many decades ago and now I can sit back and watch the young people live it and enjoy your process.

    • @Chroniclesofrosieres

It looks like you are on the right track! The board on top of the wood paneling may be called a chair rail, I'm not certain, but a design like you discussed mid wall is a chair rail in the united states of america. Great design!!

Marc - you are exactly right. C21 perfection just looks silly in an old house. We struggle the same way - slick perfection just looks wrong and doesn’t fit our crooked walls and floors. So I’m taking great inspiration from your approach to renovation.

I had an idea when I watched the video a second time. You were talking about an ogee cap for your wainscoting. I saw an alternative for a bathroom, in a catalogue showing off colored towels: use a cap that is the same as the skirting, and put pegs into that top rail, rather like a Shaker hanging rail combined with wainscoting. We copied the idea at the door where coats and hats are hung and it's been great. No kid can ever say there is no place to hang my jacket, because we have a peg every 15 or 20 cm, in the corridor which serves as an entryway.

Hi Marc - I am very impressed with your great work in putting the fine old building in order, especially with two small children, to take care of - BUT as a father of these two "pearls" you should when working with electrical machines , use: hearing protection, glasses and bandages. The children will hopefully have their father fresh and healthy for many years to come.

We have no control over adverts I’m afraid. And they’re different for everyone. They’re based on your personal profile (age, location) and what other things you watch. Best thing you can do is to clear your watch history regularly and clear cookies on your browser. It’s probably just one thing you watched or searched for that triggered it as a part of your profile.
