People are so rude and opinionated. It’s not their house you paint what you want and what you like and I’m glad you brought that up and showed them that things go out of style and come back in.
I agree, what is in fashion isn't important, what Marc and Amy like is what counts afterall they are the ones that will be living there
It is good to hear the comments though so that other views and knowledge above all else, can be imparted.
Actually I dislike grey in domestic settings. It's better for industrial jobs but all decor ideas would need to be revised if I were painting a castle!!!!
I love to hear something funny to an American. Marc says “I love this door but it’s not old, just 18th century”. Hahaha.
Wonderful family showing how to push through ups & downs with great character & obvious love.
Dear Marc and Amy, you are both the best in so many ways. Great job on the beautiful lock and door Mark. I’m in love with everything old in your chateau and coach house, but with the addition of 21st century things for function and comfort. Love your channels. And yes, styles come and go but this is your home, your labor, your style so do what you love and what makes you happy. Many hugs xx
😊who cares what" fashion" is. Paint it what YOU like and be happy! Your place is looking great!😊
The Chronicles of Chateau de Rosieres, I loved this video so much, I had to hit the like button!
As far as paint colors I think you should throw what’s in fashion out the door. Use colors you like and what is in keeping with your home. You only have to please yourselves.
Love that door lock! So interesting watching the process! ❤
I concur with the above. If "being in fashion" is the objective your entire Chateau is out of fashion -by a couple of centuries
Hehehe 😊 and the rest... this chateau is many centuries old.
Mark and Amy know what is best for their home ❤ having said that they are human and some choices will get revisited? ❤❤❤❤
I believe Marc this is your château and and cottage! NOT the opinionated people with nasty comments. The door looks beautiful. Lovely colors looks gorgeous! Love video Marc and Amy thank you
Marc - You now have “Locksmith” to add to your credentials - Well Done!
I like the interior doors and the 'new' lock for the front door. I think the patina is far more attractive than black paint. Well done!
Amy, please tell Juliette that the stickers were a hit. She placed them so lovingly on your cheeks. Perfectly balanced. She's a perfectionist! The doors are going up and soon you will have a cozy home. I bet you can't wait to move in. The lock looks beautiful on the door. I would assume that it will keep out anything. Do the children ever disappear into the bowels of the chateau? I think I would have challenged my parents in doing so. Great adventure.
So many people, so many opinions. You do you (and you do it well as far as I'm concerned)!
My late mother used to tell me ‘you do you’ before it became such a popular statement. It’s so great. You need to make yourself happy & comfortable. You’re the one living your life.
It will be gratifying to see the results of all your hard work on a daily basis when you move in and can take pride in knowing you did it yourselves. What a transformation!
I do like the door. And the lock is a triumph!
I started to laugh when Marc thought that the dark grey was too dark. Then the look on your face said it all and the reply of no comment.😂😂 You two crack me up. The place is coming together really nicely.😊
Love the banter between you two, especially when Amy says, "No comment "! 😄
A truly interesting lock, well installed, and enormous fun to enjoy Marc/Mark’s wry and friendly comments.
Fashion repeats itself. The lock is crazy. Good job mounting it.
I found this so interesting! Love the locks, paint and historical architectural elements! I lived in a house built in 1600s and loved opening the old latches and locks. I can imagine you enjoying these little details that are used daily. History in your hands!
Great way to restore a lock on the old door. Such a neat way to reclaim the old keys. 🥰🥰🐓
Well done Mark. Love the door and lock😊
Love your choice’s for the home. 🏠. Your home and you are kind enough to share your journey with us. Thank you. Deborah. North Carolina 😊😊❤❤
I love the doors and the locks with keys! 👍🏻
Great job Marc. Love the door and lock.
🇨🇦👋 Brilliant 17th Century Restoration 🇫🇷🏰
I agree, following paint color fashions is a waste of time - go with what you like!!! If you find out that it happens to be in fashion at the moment, it just becomes one of the renovation stories. 🙂♥️
Good job on the door and the lock! ♥️👏
I had a similar issue with my back storm door, having to search for a lock that would work on an older style door, patch the old hole, etc. But I didn’t have to patch or drill stone, and my key isn’t nearly that cool! On the other hand, my place isn’t nearly that old (only 102), and there are absolutely no locks that old in this part of the US. 😉
Marc you are a clever man and a “Jack off all Trades”. Your painting of the door was good with a few touch ups like you said and it will be perfect and I actually like the colours of the door and walls as they are. Well done to Amy for her sanding off of the rust from that very old door. Good job guys. Keep up the great work. I really always enjoy your varied videos, thank you both for all the effort you put into filming them for us.
I like the two-toned paint on the door. The lock and old door are pretty cool. Clement and Juliette are growing so fast.❤
Nice work on that door and lock. And great to see the kids 'helping'.
Perfect example of how simple sounding jobs take much longer than expected. 😉
Great lock choice Marc, all the hard work paid off, it looks fantastic!
Juliette, great work sneaking those stickers onto mama's cheeks! That was a great giggle!
Thankyou for the vlog, a joy as always.
Love your doors Marc and Amy you look super glamorous with the stickers on your face, of course Marc wasn’t going to tell you, what a bad lad 😂😂 Much love K🇬🇧❤️❤️
Amy, you are a STAR!! Loved it
When you go out, are you going to put that key in your back pocket???😮😂
Fashion comes and goes, paint what ever colour you like. You’re living with it. 😊
I love that you all do what you need to and want to. Keep it up!
Love this family!
that lock is quite interesting, Marc! nice find!
"no comment"😂😅 I find choosing paint colors so difficult...best thing about paint is it's easy to change 🎨❤
My father and my daughter used to have sticker w@rs.❤️😂🤣 It was hilarious. Once he was at the Dr a week or two after we had visited and the Dr asked if the sticker on his back was marking something that the Dr needed to look at! 🤣😂🤣😂
Great job Marc!
Marc is so talented. It’s a joy to watch.
Loving your videos. Really interesting. Thank you. The lock is fantastic. Very beautiful and looks perfect on the door. The room is really taking shape.
Marc fixing the lock was amazingly good. And entertaining.
What a great vlog i am not biased lol but i adore all of you ❤❤❤😊
Great to see you all. Missed yous!! Lots of love chez in Lliria Valencia Spain 😘😘😘😘😘
That door and lock are gorgeous! I love that key. I’m amazed you think to pick up items for future use! The ultimate recycling!
I love the old green door!!! Just strip it and the henges and put oil on it and it will look gorgeous!
I love your opening sequence! It's both old-timey and original! Your chateau has come so far with all your hard work! Bravo!
Bravo on the lock Marc! I love your witty humor about the naysayers. Haha!
Great job!
✨🌞✨
how do you know what you know? Brilliant work. I'm so impressed.
I so love that you’re restoring the old doors. And that wooden lock! Ignore the naysayers- you’re doing an amazing job ❤
What a lovely memory to catch Juliette decorating Mummy with stickers. The rustic door and lock are lovely. Keep the key out of reach of the children till they are older. Stain or paint whatever you like it is your home.
I think you guys are fantastic parents and builders.Look at all you have accomplished 👏👏 … wow 🤩 you both are living your life how you want to….and doing it magnificent ❣️😘 So interesting 🤔 to see how you use old things, and make it beautiful!! I love to watch you👏👏❤️🙏🙏
That was really interesting, how you fix that old door, and must have been quite satisfying that it worked perfectly. COOL!
The lock is beautiful.
I love the key. You need a big purse or deep pocket keys to store it.
I lived in a turn of the century building as a child. We had keys like that for the attic, front door, cellar. It was a huge key ring.
Mark is such a creative, knowledgeable and handy man.
Are you going to put weather stripping around the door to close the gaps?
Marc, I really like how the inside door turned out, it has a country cottage look. The old outside door looks really good also with the old lock, just make sure the kids don't lose the key as you'll never find another one. Lol..lol..Kathy USA 🇺🇸
Just an idea try putting clear wax on the wood work then buffing it up so it looks naturally older a bit more shabby chic.
Paint finishes are a lot of hard work but really done well last for many years to come. It also changes the depth of the colours.
Easy for me to say with my many years of experience.
Love the old locks ❤
As always, amazing skill! You both deserve to be the owners of such a fine property!
Can you get Frog tape in France. Since i changed to using that instead of masking tape it makes painting much easier, seals better so you don't get bleed underneath. They do several types including one for new paint.❤
Amazing work to restore your door latch! You found the perfect one - well done Mark! 👏👏
the doors look great there in keeping with the room
Mark, nothing against the choice you made for the lock, it looks great. I do wonder though if there is a somewhat local locksmith that could make a key for the lock without. Seems a shame not to use it. At one point I wondered about the gap at the door edge but when you closed it at the last it looked nice and tight. Well done. Looks great.
Great job with the lock, Marc! I always wonder how you know how to do everything!
Can you tell me the name of the product you applied to the iron work on the door, please ?
The door looks amazing
Great work with the door and everything else in your chateau.
Im amazed how you carefully connect the right nuts to the 🚪 😂
Well done Marc the lock looks great , it's so lovely that you are using original pieces x
Wonderful work done! Everything is beautiful! I read the comments and see so much love and appreciation. If there are a few rude or nasty people I think it is safe to completely ignore them! Amy, I noticed the stickers right away and was so curious what the shiny spot on your face was. I laughed so hard when you remembered that you had been stickered! I just love your family. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Can I have the name of the product you have applied to the hinges?
You have quite an assortment of historic locks 👍
Marc is quite the Renaissance Man. Well done!
The locks of today wouldn’t last as long as the one you are using now good job
Great paint job. I do hope you have a spare key for that lock😅
I was unaware you had a channel separate from your garden (which I love). I am a new and very happy subscriber. Thank you and good luck, DA
Welcome! Yes this was our original channel until we realised we needed to cover both projects in their own space!
Great job on the door and lock 😍😘
One doesn't realize how much work goes into a lock set. The repurposed lock looks great!
My eyes were LOCKED to this episode. Great work and expertise!
Wonderful video as always!😍
Another step closer, and love the lock 🤗
I thought you really rocked the yellow stickers on your dropped cheeks !! 🥰🥰 Love The tree Painting can you incorporate Dave & Piggy on the picture perhaps and Pepper !! May be a small tractor !!😂😂🤣🤣🤩🤩🦃🐖🐽🐕🦺🚜 Not The Naughty Fox !!🦊😪😪
Marc you have made the lock look like it has always been a part of the door 🤩👏👏
I love the into music and old time Pics
Juliette🩷🥰🫶🏻
I love that you don´t change the front door and that you find an old lock for it. It¨s absolutely wonderful. But I have a thought. I don´t know the rules etc from the insurance companies in France, but I think there are some rules here in Denmark - where I´m from - about locks on the doors. That they have to bee approved for securety reasons in case of burglary. I hope you understand what I mean. Just so you won't be rejected because of the lock if the worst thing should happen I mean. Except from that I love the door - and the "new" lock ❤ Good work Marc! 👏👏
Listening to people talk about what colours etc. are in or out of style always makes me laugh. It’s all marketing to keep us all spending money to ‘stay up to date’. I keep reading that gray is passe, that white kitchens have been overdone, that shiplap is now out, and yet people keep choosing gray, white, shiplap. Just pick what you love & what makes you comfortable. I love your choices.👍🏻😘🇨🇦
I feel very privileged that you share your journey with us. I absolutely adore you both! You could paint the walls anything you'd like and I'd approve. I enjoy it all.
I wish you much success!
I love your colour choice for the door. Shows your individual style nicely and I love it when people dare to be who they are and not always follow boring trends where everything looks "the cold" same. Like the horrible greys that are now fashionable worldwide. To me, I'm sure it's only me, but I see it as a sign of empty people's brain spaces in the upper compartments of the body. A sign of No critical thinking, no reasoning, just following others like sheep. So therefore, I love to look at your videos..
Mark is getting great at videos!
Hi, I have been following your journey from early days & think you are a beautiful family with a vision.
The renovation of your home is definitely a feat with kids and all. I feel the paint colours should be what flatters the natural stone work not what is fashionable. This is not a modern home. I do feel that grey is a little cool and some warmer colours would be more harmonious. Don’t need so many different colours and busy detail on doors etc. Let the stone be the hero of the room with the other accents like the mural. LESS is more. By the time you furnish & add all those details you don’t want everything to compete with each other. It makes a more tranquil space and keeps the look unified.
No need for any nasty comments. We all support your channel and want to see you succeed. Love from Australia.
I really like the two tone door paint finish - I guess you just have to be sure it goes with how you want to do the rest of the room...which is your creative vision .. and personally I would love the door you put the lock on without paint, burnished old chestnut would be gorgeous, but I don't know what's possible with that 😊 the old lock is lovely ! What a wonderful property you have !
Love Juliette’s stickers on your cheeks Amy! Marc, the door and especially the lock are perfect. ❤
Marc, you have endless talents! The construction is so different from where I live as the access to materials is different. We have clay, sand, and water here in the US Midwest. Wood, iron, and anything but sandstone is lacking and has to be transported quite a way. How fun it must be to be able to go outside and find materials in the garden!
Could the paint be lead base? Need a mask? :)
I realize that this is a day late and a dollar short but for your future I will share a secret. Use vinegar to dissolve rust. No joke folks. Jamaica paste I'm pretty sure that you can just use
Warm the vinegar during the cornstarch and a paste. ❤
The repurposed lock looks like it came with the door. I enjoyed watching the process. That key won't fit in anyone's pocket or purse. Will you attach it to a rope and hang it around your neck? I'm seriously curious. I imagine that there won't be a lot of occasions when you need to lock it though.
Love the wooden lock. Good mason job - for a beginner. You did some similar in the greenhouse, that already impressed me. 👋
Love watching your two channels! Very informative as well as entertaining.
Congratulations on the lovely lock install 🎉🎉🎉
To help with the ‘bleeding’ under the tape, do a quick coat of the base colour after you’ve taped and then do the dark colour after it’s dried.
