Hi there, to avoid the reset of the parameters, please use the shift+func and the black key number 15 ( Setup Write ) so the machine will store all of the parameters ; ) ... i was using that MC-303 since ages now...
Made my first album on this back in the 90s, I bought it the day it came out and used it to control a variety of hardware samplers and synths including the Roland S-550 and Juno 106
Like many on here, this was my first synth that I got back in my raving days. Replaced it pretty quickly with the much better 505, which I still have today. I should dust it off and see if I can do something with it.
The MC-303 was so insane when it came out. Working on these limited systems, you will find you that you can clean room your way into certain genres. It's such a powerful experience. (this does not apply to the tb-303 or 606 drum machine; those have absolutely insane and byzantine systems to learn)
I remember looking at the musicians friend catalog and drooling over the MC-303 when it was first available. I had to call them to order it and I called them every few days until delivery day. I actually drove around to find the FedEx guy so I could get it as early as possible hahaha. Changed my life.
Hi!great videos, really enjoy the digitakt ones, and this one was a nice surprise! I also have the mc 303, but mine doesn’t have the glitch you show in the video. I think you might be able to get around this by using it in midi sync with some other machine. Great content, I’ve learned so much watching the 2 techno digitakt videos!thank you
As always another fantastic video. I'm always excited to watch your new content. I learn so much. I'd also love to see what you could do with a Midihub from Blokas. This little box of midi tricks is so awesome. I have one for my synths, however I can only imagine what you would get out of one connected to modular and a digitakt
ive owned a few and they have all been glitchy peices of shit.. but then i give it away and one will pop up for 100 bux or less and ill buy it and repeat, the 505 was glitchy as well but was still one of my fave grooveboxs and my first synth
i don't know much about the device but i remember a friend of mine had it and had similar problems. it's a faint memory from 15+ years ago so i'm not 100% sure but you may need to "replace" a pill battery inside the device. (perhaps it was a different groovebox heh)
There are MIDI editors available for this. It is a lot more fun controlling with another device, or at least having an editor on screen on your computer to avoid menu diving. Not a bad groovebox, just a very annoying interface.
@@kp8923 True, but it doesn't have beat sync, so it doesn't play in time when you press the keys during live performance like even this old MC-303 can.
Elektron are thieves. If you want theur arp (one of the best) you have to buy a digitone. When you did buy one. You Say oh waouh that arp ! And then you wan to use it in the midi track and......f... You have to buy an octatrack...
Hello Ihor, big appreciation for content you create. Please consider to bring Elektron Machinedrum for some techno/retro beats.. I think it might be interesting :) keep going, cheers! p.
Very sorry to hear that! I checked "Held for review" comments and there is nothing. I think this is because of an auto moderation thing on UA-cam. I might have set it a bit too harsh! What was your comment? If you don't mind repeating!
Nice tutorial. I immediately passed it to my friend who have this machine at home from some time too. I have MC-505 and can say both machines are great. Even both are romplers have something special and nostalgic in sound. MC-505 have great capabilities to shape the sound in 4 layers and it is really powerful. Sequencers in those machines are great as well. Machines form year around 2000 having 32 bars - nowadays almost impossible to find similar seq inside groove boxes. Cheers.
This sounds so terrible compared to modern machines hihihi. But the arpeggios are still stunning. Try them out. I´m ever and ever thinking again about buy one just because of the arpeggios.
Wow, real old groovebox, love it, have some other Roland grooveboxes (MC-909, MC-808); thanks for the great video. I would appreciate, if you could make a video with the famous Yamaha RM1x. 😊
Nice! Those clicky buttons sound so satisfying. Great demo and great video production too. Always love your stuff. I learned the Elektron sequencer from your track from scratch series. Keep doing you!
You madlad. MC-303 was my first synth, probably true of many of us.
Same
I still have one, bought in the 90s🙂
Hl1 = Hall v1 if I remember correctly.
hall! Makes sense! I thought it was something related to High Low pass which makes not much sense lol

Thank you for this tip!
That is the most convoluted way to clear a pattern I've ever seen. This thing is amazing

This machine has a special mood I love it. Everything blends together kind of LOFI in a way but with still some sharpness to it !
Hey, Ihor! Thank you for an amazing review of this cool groovebox. Nice blue & yellow cables you have there!
I bought 2 of these in the late 90's still going strong no glitches! Thanks man :))
Ahh my first synth, where I learned that thing called 'Cutoff' lol
Great to relive, great video! :D
Nice!
Cool, I had one fresh out of the box when they came out, its amazing how cheap they sell for these days.
I like the Ukraine cables 💪
I like them too 🇺🇦
I had a MC505 in the 90s. Similar to the 303 but with more features. So fun coming home after a night out and getting lost in my own tunes.
i was faced with the choice of either the mc 303 or the 309 from quasimidi, i decided on the 309 and was very happy with it👍🎼👌
Like many on here, this was my first synth that I got back in my raving days. Replaced it pretty quickly with the much better 505, which I still have today. I should dust it off and see if I can do something with it.
Like also many people mentioned the better 505! I have to try it one day!

Good morning Ihor, my 1st piece of hardware was this unit big brother the MC505 I used to play it alongside my 1210s while djing.
Nice! I have to try that MC-505 now!
Sound of the 90s🙂

What about the MC-909. Awesome bit of kit.
Nice
Great video. Very interesting. Your content is very informative.
Thank you!

It’s been years but I seem to remember that If you save / overwrite the pattern in between recording parts, it won’t / shouldn’t reset stuff.
Nice work. Now I’m off to get my 303 out the cupboard and have a play…..
Nice Martin!

100% annoying interface, especially when it glitches out all the time!
i had one long ago, mine did not have any of those glitches...
I guess this one is fried or something!
Cool machine tbh! 😊
I has what elektron machines need desperately, an arpeggiator 😂😂
I think the Digitone has it! And the Octatrack too!
@@IhorMedia My bad! I have the digitakt and syntakt that's why I didn't know 😋 hahaha
Analog Four also has an excellent arp

Hay, how come my comments were deleted. It was a valid and respectful comment and suggestion.
I see that happening a lot on UA-cam, what was the comment?

Wait, I didn’t know you were in the Netherlands! Marktplaats is the best for gear 😎😎
Absolutely!
So, you have sold your Syntakt for this ? Need Money ? ;)
LOL! No way I am selling my Syntakt!

2 of these and a roland SP-808 was my setup in 2000 :)))
a lot of memories!... and a lot of fun with this box. Long time ago made entirely a song with my band with MC 303 ("il giorno n. 303")
The video tutorial for this synth is classic.
And now I want to get my MC-303 out of its box again. :) Inspiring, as usual.
Haha! Thank you!
Arpeggio:
Mc-303 : Yes
Syntakt: No
Mc-303 wins
Big love to the MC-303, that box also has a live TB-303 inside, Maybe on the next track you can exploit it
I got the 505 and the 909 and I love them I’ll never get rid of them
303 fingers soon
The mc303 was my first groovebox. It was lot of fun, and i was sequencing my e6400 with it, but it sounds flat and cloudy to my ears....
This sounds so terrible compared to modern machines hihihi. But the arpeggios are still stunning. Try them out. I´m ever and ever thinking again about buy one just because of the arpeggios.
If you don’t mind my asking, what kind of camera are you using?
Hey! I am using Sony a6400 at the moment

OK I take it back, Behringer TD3 isn't the craziest bit of kit to program lol.
Hahaha
