MXR Prime Distortion - guitar effects pedal - sounds demo and settings - thoughts and opinions

Check out the MXR Prime Distortion! It is a great deal if you are looking for a vintage plexi style high gain unit. It does great tones for 70's and 80's rock covers. This pedal can also get into metal territory on the higher end of the distortion knob. I like it with my split coils the best, so if you play with single coil pickups, you'll likely get more usable tone from out of the pedal. It has a very sensitive tone control, and can be the difference between a great tone and a fizzy mess. With a little tweaking, you'll be sure to find a sound that works for you. I use it in conjunction with other effect pedals, and it plays very well with them. I have stacked a tube screamer type overdrive pedal with it, and it sounds very nice and remains clear. If classic rock is your thing, you might really enjoy this affordable stompbox. It looks killer, also!
