    I bought mine about 15 years ago and it still runs great. They were $200 forever, but I see they're up to about $300 now. Still worth it. When the tool was first available, it was the same, but mostly gray with orange accents!

    You did a great job of showcasing the sander. A very good video, you presented all the info that a woodworkers like me wants to hear. Thanks for shearing you experience. I am now convinced to go and buy one.

    I wasn't expecting to find such a nice walkthrough of this sander! I just picked one up off craigslist (used it previously in a college woodshop), so I'm looking forward to setting it up as a compact and versatile sanding setup. Thanks for sharing!

    According to the instructions the Allen keys store in the two holes on back of the unit next to the sanding belt.

    I'm about to buy one of these from a friends widow. This was his favorite sanding machine. Hope he kept all the bits for it.

    for that bowed piece of test wood, I would have used the flat belt attachment... but thank you for the Demo.

    Great presentation! Very precise and informative about the various features and operations. Just curious what other units did you look at prior to choosing Rigid? Thanks.

      Too be honest, I didn't do a lot of comparing. I did find that WEN has a similar tool. I have several wen power tools and have had a good experience with them. When I started research the ridgid sander (particularly on UA-cam) I started noticing how many woodworkers on YT had them in their shops. Even videos that had nothing to do with this sander, I would notice them. That weighed heavily on my decision. There is another version of this sander by ridgid, but the reviews didn't seem as good. so I went with this one. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    Have you had any issues with the belt creeping upwards when unit is running? Mine does and the tracking knob doesn't seem to do much at all so I basically just have a spindle sander. If you've got any suggestions I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

    • @HomestyleWoodCrafts
      @HomestyleWoodCrafts  Рік тому

      I have had that problem. However, with some patience with the tracking knob I was able to correct it. Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with it.

    Project idea: creating a chaotic motion machine. It could be really cool made of wood.

    Please hook up a vacuum to control the dust.

      Its hard to tell from the angle, but I when I was sanding I was standing right in the open doorway of the garage door. Not that I am perfect at it, but I try to practice safe woodworking techniques. Dust collection is something I am working on improving in my shop now and I have made a couple of videos about it. Check out my recent videos on dust collection!

    Looks like a great tool. I can think of several projects that could have benefitted from a half inch spindle. Keep the videos coming.

    Thank you, James! Was wondering if that tool is worth the shop space. I'm in a tight space but tired of sanding too slowly :()

    • @HomestyleWoodCrafts
      @HomestyleWoodCrafts  Рік тому

      Yes, I really like it! Just used it on my last project (see the rustic pumpkin video). While I enjoy the spindle/ belt sander combination, if you need just the spindle sander, you kind find smaller units. Good luck! Small shops require a lot of creativity.
