It absolutely looks better in person than in photos. Was picking up some oil and a filter at my dealer and they had one on the floor. I like it better than mine but not enough to do anything about it.
I have an early 2023 and I think I like the 2021~2023 color better than the new 2024, but I may have to see it in person. There are a few colors in the past that I like better, but good luck finding one of those. Glad to see that they did not change it mechanically. Why mess with what works!
I agree, I like those other colors as well. I really don't mind this new one at all, but I would choose the 18-20 or the 21-23 colors over the new one.
@@MOBStreet83 the tan 2018 was one of my favorites! i looked for a used one for ages, but just couldn't make it happen. i think there's something subtle and refined about the 2024 colorway though. its simple, but refined. think it looks great in person! but eh if you get bored of it, can always get new plastics and decals :) 37 years of parts, mods and add-ons, the options are endless!
These are the GOAT of all dual sport bikes! I absolutely love mine! It's a hard choice between my 2021 RE Himalayan and the TDub, as to which one I want to ride. The Himalayan gets the nod for pavement, but the little TDub absolutely excels on forest roads. for those folks who think it's short on range, I ride mine on Washington's BDR. the only time I need to watch the rear view mirrors is on pavement. Even tho I've upgraded the sprockets, she isn't designed for extended high speed pavement. I can get 55mph, with gear (including a 2 gal Armadillo bag for extra gas, so can go pretty much anywhere if I'm not in a hurry.
Ordered one last week . Rode a KLR 650 for 10 years. The kids 250 two strokes in the barn as well. Two hondas and a Zuke. Sold the KLR. Were down to 15 wheeled toys now, including the grandkids honda 50's. Im 65 now and retiring soon . Time to pound the slow miles..
Right?! I literally wiped them off as they had just entered the showroom. Both were sold and were to be picked up later. That is the first time in a long time I have seen one in a showroom here. This dealership still has a long waiting list on them.
I love all the TDubs color schemes….the 2024 is nice yes, kinda reminds me more of a motorcycle vs a dirtbike paint job. I was in the market recently for a new TDub and once I found out what the 2024 looked like I was disappointed because I wanted 2023 colors so I searched up and down and finally found a 2022, and I LOVE it so much. Now I’m hooked and I thinking of buying more because 1 is just not enough!
howdy mr matt mobstreet! been a while since i was on the yt, thanks as always for the video. i had watched a bunch of your videos over the summer, after having to sadly pass on my 300l preorder. i was struggling to figure out what bike i should get.. but i gotta say part of what swung to the tw over the klx230 were your videos, and particularly the great insights from your wife's experience with the bike (kudos to her for sharing her thoughts!!) then once i saw the refined graphics for this years tw - yeah i was sold! timing was right, and dealers near me started stocking them within a few weeks of me asking around! and so yeah, i am now proudly a member of the tdub club!! got a little over 100mi on her in my first month, and it's been such a joy. after my dog sadly past last month, this bike has given me a literal breath of fresh air, and a reason to go out and explore. i'm glad the stars aligned and i was able to get ahold of one. thank you again for your content - it's great, honest, and really is helpful! maybe next year i'll see you at tdubfest! cheers!
Hey Alex!! Thanks for watching and for the comment. I had my wife read it also! I hope you have as good of a time with your TW as we have had with them. It would be awesome to see you next year at Tdub Fest. Until then, here's to many more good times on the bikes!
I've been wanting a TW for a year or so now, but I haven't been willing to pay the new price, or the high prices for whatever used ones that I've come across. In any case, I would actually probably NOT want one (as much) if they ever change to fuel injection. I like old school things since they are usually easy to work on, even if they aren't as good as modern tech. I wouldn't be able to really put a TW to its intended use where I live, but it would still be perfect for my short commute where the speed limit is only 45. Maybe I'll sell one of my KLRs and get a T-Dub.
Hey Mark! I agree, I really like them the way they are. My father in law used one for that same reason as you're thinking. He commuted on it for years putting more than 10k miles on it! They're great for that!
Had mine a few weeks now. This week is gonna be good...New 70 tooth rear and x ring chain, new springs front & rear, and jets. I like the looks and soon it will climb like a goat!
Too funny...I had an old Chevy truck that I could walk behind and help push it through some tough terrain. Back when I was young and dumb! Now I'm much older and slow is good, slower even better...
Yamaha needs to do a run on the kick starter kits. I'm on that loves having that option in the back country if the battery, starter fails or gets damaged.
I like it but I honestly think I would take off the side decals. I don't like the fade. The pinstripes on the tank fade out too but I could live with that. I own a 2022 that I bought new in December 2021.
This is going to sound weird, but the TW seat kept catching my eye. Great looking seat. Are they comfortable? (For a dual sport) I’m really still leaning towards a KLX 230, but the trails around here are mostly sand, and I’ll bet I’m not the only rider that struggles in sand. It’s to the point where I can’t just go for a cruise through the woods, it’s like a full on moto, wide open, grip the tank, azz back, front end feels like your bike only has one fork! Im a very experienced rider, but not a very good rider, lol, plus pushing 60 years old! So with that said, and Matt, you should know this, how much easier is the TW to ride sand, loose gravel then the KLX, if any? Thanks bud, Mike.
Hey Mike! Thanks for watching and for the comment. My wife and I both think that the TW200 seat is way better than the KLX230 seat. As far as riding goes, I like the TW more than the KLX on everything. I have been told the KLX230 is way better than the 230s model that I have, but the wider tires on the TW feel way better to me than the KLX. I think if you are riding all out you might be happier with the KLX in the sand, but that wide tire of the TW really helps me in sand. I have ridden the sand dunes a couple times with the TW and I like it more. It really just depends on personal preference. Sorry, I don't know if that helps or not, but for, between my TW and KLX230S, I'd take the TW every time.
Just picked up a 2022 Black & Gray TW200, it has 325 miles on it, came with a DG slip on pipe and a 44 rear sprocket, and I'm glad I did, as I really don't like the 2024 color scheme.
Hey did you ever lower the suspension on a TW? I bought one for my wife and would like to lose an inch if I can at least until she gets used to it. Just wondering if a lower pressure in the rear shock would do it?
Hey! No, I haven't messed with it at all. My wife is 5'4" and she rides it fine. But, I have heard some lower the front forks in the triple trees to lower the bike a bit.....
I just bought a 21 and a 23. I had to lower the forks on the 21 by an inch for my wife. Hopefully I don't have to fit a 12" shock to bring the rear down too. Once she is confident I can extend the forks again I hope.
That DRZ400 is a solid machine and has been around forever as well. But, these TW's are pretty hard to beat for what they are and what you can do with them.
I gave up waiting for a change with the TW200. Other than colors and decals it hasn't changed in decades. I went with a 2023 KLX 230. Much better and modern.
