Hey Matt just wanted to let you know I just picked up a 2024 and I couldn't be happier. It is perfect for what I will be using it for, riding around the ranch in SE Idaho, forest service and BLM roads. I heard they are great for getting into hard to reach hunting spots as well. We were on pre-order for 8 months. Dealer called and said we have a 2023. An older gentleman bought it, he waited forever to get a tdub and he got sick and never even got to ride it and ended up passing away. The dealer bought it back. Yes! My wife and I ride together all the time. It doesn't interfere at all and my wife likes it because it is a sturdy handle to hold onto as well if things get a bit technical.
@@MOBStreet83 For sure, delivery is what I meant also. Although I got lucky and found mine at a dealer before demand got crazy, so I'm not sure how bad the normal ordering process is.
The color scheme (or lack thereof) isn't the worst by far. The previous year's was my favorite of all time. This to me is just one step down. My second favorite of all time would be the '07 blue/white color scheme. I've owned 2 TW200s in my lifetime. My first was a '95 "fruit loop" color scheme. My second was the '07. Moved up to a XT250 briefly and when Yamaha pulled the WR250 I waited a couple years for it's replacement then got pissed and tainted my loyal blue blood with a CRF300L. Most definitely different going to fuel injected bikes and I hated it at first. It took some time but 1700 miles in and I love the bike now. If things ever go back to non crazy I'll scoop me up a used t dub though. I should always have one in my stable as it is always in my heart.
Turn off the fuel and run it till the carb is dry. I have a 2003 KLR650 I’ve had since new, with 46,000 miles on it, and a pair of 1972 CT90 camping bikes, and never have carb issues using that method. For winter storage, BG44 and Stabil in the tank, run the carbs dry, they fire right up in the Spring! FI is just not great for most home mechanics, due to its added complexity. But, if you don’t work on your own bike, and don’t like the added “hassle” of the tips I mentioned, by all means, go the FI route.
@@bryanbrowning5746 I dont do winter storage, I live in Louisiana extremely hot and humid. Moisture builds up. Not just in the carbs but in the tank too. Ethanol is not going to go away. I used to live in Colorado, we had ethanol issues there too. Not to mention transitions from 6k elevation to up or down 2k feet in 30 minutes.
Living in Utah, I have the cold winters and the hot summers and I live at 6000' elevation and go from 4000 to 9000 regularly. As of yet (knock on wood) I haven't had any carb issues. My Harley has a carb also and I ran from Central Utah, over Nevada then over Yosemite to Monterey and it ran fine as well. Not saying it is the best, but the simplicity of it all and not needing a computer to work on my bike is great. Don't get me wrong, I see the value of EFI, but with the TW200 I don't see it as a necessity.
I am thinking of buying my first Motorcycle. My question is with regards to the TW200 Carburetor versus a Fuel Injected Motorcycle (i.e. KLX230). How reliable is the Carburetor? Is it easy to maintain? My friends tell me I should look at a Fuel Injected Motorcycle. What are your thoughts? To tell you the truth I am leaning toward the TW as my first Motorcycle, mostly because of the looks and I don’t want something so powerful that it would get me in trouble as Newb. Also, there just seems to be a huge following for the Yamaha.
This is what I wish someone told me when I was starting out: Carb is more reliable like a horse is more reliable than a car. Really not a huge deal one way or another. As for TDubs/xt250 : great purpose bikes. I stress purpose. If you're 5'8 150lb and have short legs and love nature and to hike, camp, fish and have friends or actively looking for friends with same interests TW all the way! ...also XT250. BUT if you want to be on the road over 50mph ... disregard all the top speed vids because realistic top sustainable speed of these bikes is low af..like 55? ...if you need to be on the highway for any reason, if you need you haul you gf , if you plan on impressing a potential gf(lol kidding), if you're 6ft, 180lb, if going fast makes you happy ...And I don't mean reckless fast...just regular fast than TW isn't a good pick. As for first bike and not getting into trouble thing I wouldn't worry about it at all. Just don't get a liter bike or a 600 and you'll be fine.
I have both the KLX230S and the TW200. I would take the TW200 all day every day over the KLX230. The carb is easy to use and maintain over efi. The TW200 is hands down more comfortable than the KLX230S for me and my wife. The TW200 can be bump started if the battery dies and I love the fat tires for traction. I'd take the TW200 any day
I love it. Can’t wait for dealers to get them. I like that the color scheme gives it a slightly cafe bike kind of vibe. I also love the “Yamaha” on the tank. The “TW “ steathly in the side just below the seat. And it doesn’t say “200” anywhere I see. Which for me is a no brainer. I really don’t care to see 200,300,500,750,1000 or any of that on any bike. I bet people who are self conscious about riding small displacement bikes are also pretty happy that is doesn’t say 200.
Just did my first oil change on my 2023. Glad I got the 23. I put a pipe and filter on mine and with a jet kit and I don’t get any gas mileage now. Gonna do the mixture screw today but I think that makes it richer, which I think it already is.idk
I like the new color. Last years color worked for me also. The only thing that I would like to see change is Yamaha making this bike in EFI. It's quite perplexing that Yamaha hasn't done this, especially since the XT250 has had EFI for the past 10 years.
From what I can gather, it is do to the EPA. They would have to do a complete revamp of the bike if they went EFI. Plus, having EFI on my KLX.....I'm not sold on it. I love the simplicity of the carb and being able to do anything the bike needs without a computer like you would need to with efi.
I called a dealer in Olympia Washington for an out the door price and thy said $6650. Isn’t that kind of high? Tax, title, license, freight, assembly. And one other amount I can’t remember what for. Does anyone know if this is way out of line? Please let me know. If it’s not then I will just credit card the total and be done with the deal.
Fuel injection and rear disk brakes would be awesone cause a new paint job isn't that appealing. I have a tw200 on order but I'm leaning more now towards a honda crf300l instead. Here in Canada for 300$ more to get FI, 6 speed gearbox and a fuel gauge just are pluses that I can't ignore.
Why fuel injection though? Also, if you are shorter rider, the 34.7" seat height of the crf vs the 31.1" of the TW200 is also something to take into consideration. My KLX has a six speed and in 6th gear I can't gain any speed. My TW200 is faster than the KLX and I can adjust the idle where I can't on the KLX. I think the CRF is better than the KLX in that regard, but I still can't really see why so many folks want fuel injection. I have been riding my TW's for 5 years and haven't had any issues with the carb and I live at 6,000' and run from 4,000 to 10,000 so far without problems.
@@MOBStreet83 I guess it's because of price that I go for twice the power and I'm over 6 feet tall and my wife is 5'3 on her tip toes so that's why I'm looking at the shorter bike. But like I said for 300 more you gain twice the hp and even without FI you still get front and rear disc brakes and inverted front forks. The little TW will go in my stable but there's alot of upgrades that should come stock.
I like the tank. Don't like the color of the cowling or the decals on the side plastics. Oem tanks are between 5-6 hundred dollars brand new. I think a black cowling would look better and maybe change the decals on the side plastics or don't have decals at all. So you could take an older model and buy a 2024 tank and switch out the plastics and you've got basically the same bike. ✌️
I'll go on the record as not being wild about the new color. I miss that year they did the previous design but in brown/tan instead of gray/black (I have the gray/black, 2021.) As for the specs, hard to keep up with all the changes they made to this sophisticated machine! Jk, if they changed anything I'd probably be furious anyways. Down with ethanol, carb 4 life I say
Yeah, but you are getting what you pay for with the XR from what I have heard. I have been really happy with my TW's and the upkeep on them has been super easy. But, I don't know since I haven't seen the XR in person yet.
Yeah it does. I'd still take the TW over the XR150. The only thing I think that is actually "better" is the price. If I could get my hands on one I would love to do some side by side comparisons with it. But, that is also what is great about it all.....we can all choose what we want and enjoy the ride!
Stop sugar coating it. I love your vids and I'm a subscriber. However, the TW200 needs TWO things. A bigger gas tank and fuel injection. Would tubeless tires be nice? Sure, but that's subjective. The bigger gas tank and fuel injection are necessary in the new world.
I am not trying to sugar coat anything......I would take a bigger gas tank, but I am not sold on fuel injection yet. I will take my TW with its carb over my KLX with its fuel injection any day of the week.
@@MOBStreet83100% agree with the carb vs FI. These aren’t real “serious” bikes, they’re made for fun and ease of maintenance IMHO. I think the TW fulfills it’s mission statement quite well the way it is!
Looks like Yamaha did another "If it ain't broke don't fix it" for yet another year. Personally the new color to me is Eh.Its ok nothing ground breaking, and actually a step back. When will Yamaha come out with a blow your socks off T Dub ? Stay tunned :-)
@@MOBStreet83 I do want to put a bigger tank on my TDUB, I saw a video of a clear gas tank and the guy hooked up LEDs on bottom of it, when turned on at night looked really cool. (Clark Tank)
I'm just a fool. Every year I get my hopes up about fuel injection or 250cc engine or bigger tank but all they ever change is the different color. Well, there is always next year.
Honestly why cant they add purple? gray = no way, green= been done, white = are you kidding me? grape or purple would be cool as yellow or orange & colors that we dont see all the time. I looked at the MSRP & some of the prices at deals, WAY to high for what your getting imo. For 2k more you can get 500-700 cc bikes.
Another Yamaha with that gloomy-ass gray... 😑 Was hoping heavily for something a little more eye-catching, but wasn't hoping too hard as this isn't terribly surprising.
@@MOBStreet83 I'm hitting middle age and I guess just pining for the over the top flash of the early/mid 90's. 😁 I'm all about the Yamaha brand, but I feel like the last few years, some executive has been letting his three-year-old kid pick out the color schemes. 🤔 Grays and off-colored tans for the win, apparantly... Thanks again for the vid. Very first time I've gotten eyes-on the 24.

Nice! I have the injected KLX230S.......I'll take the TW over it any day of the week. I hope things calm a bit cause I wanna buy more TW's!
Agreed! Like you, liked the blue/white and also liked the earlier all white with blue. Who thought this new color scheme was a hit? Hmmm?
I appreciate Yamha's updates to the TW, but for me- no FI is no sale. Ethanol fuels and carbs have given me too many problems.
Oh! How could I forget, cold starts, choke ect ect.
@@MOBStreet83 #petition TW350 with FI! :) d00w-it!
Hi! does anybody knows if it will be available in italy? Would it be possible to import from the US?
I don't know for sure? I wish I could answer for you.
My only thing is that for the price they ought to include a decent size tank. It surely wouldn't cost a whole lot to give you another gallon of fuel.
Yeah, another gallon would be awesome!
Is this thing really an automatic? How does that work with trail riding?
No, it's a manual 5 speed. Always has been.
Good question, I'm considering the TW myself and would like to know the answer, too. Carb vs Fuel Injected
This is what I wish someone told me when I was starting out:
Carb is more reliable like a horse is more reliable than a car.
@@Boomer_Dual_Sport thank you, pretty much will be used on forest roads and trails. I think TW will be the ticket.
I'd take the TW200 any day
@@pacificdragon1 nice! And glad it's a Yamaha. Best motorcycles ever imo
Going strong since 1987….seriously, nice look!!!!
Yep! And hopefully for a lot more years to come.
I am never self conscious on the TW200! That bike has a character all it's own. I am a fan of the color as well!
Anyone know of a kick starter kit,
That’s affordable ?
Thx😊
I haven't found one yet.
@@MOBStreet83
Well, thx for the post 🤙🏻😎
Our rear sprocket choices reduce our mileage too
That's a valid truth!
Just did my first oil change on my 2023. Glad I got the 23. I put a pipe and filter on mine and with a jet kit and I don’t get any gas mileage now. Gonna do the mixture screw today but I think that makes it richer, which I think it already is.idk
Let me know how it turns out for you!
Glad to see they’re keeping the specs the same. Just purchased a 2022 TW and have already put 1100 miles on it since March. It’s an awesome bike
Nice!! Congrats on the bike! I have been a huge fan of mine as well.
I love my 1995 tw200
Nice! That's one of the most sought after retro colors!
It’s beautiful!!!!!!
I like it too!
I have heard more and I have heard less. So, I don't think it's too far off from others.
Great change of color, I’m for it 🙏
I agree, I like it as well!
They should make the BW 200 fat wheel again" only with a YZ 250 motor braaap
I have seen folks install the BW front end on the TW. But, that engine would be gnarly on the TW!
Retro look. Fun bikes.
Yep! They are a blast!
I like the new color scheme - something a little different though I wish that they offered more than one option. Not everyone likes gray / silver.
I actually like the new color as well. But yeah, a few other color options would be good to have.
Yamaha blue (glossy) might be good.
@@jululugz2893 👍
Gotcha. I understand what you mean.
Curse my total lack of time and money. It looks amazing.
I am a fan of this one too!
Same bike different color. Same as the past 28 years. Some things don't need change.
And that's why we like it! I am digging this new color though.
I actually love this color combo, it looks retro cafe daul sport ! I didn't like the cream color of 21
I'm liking it too!
I am wait for mine2024 dealer said novembre l am eager to
Gotcha. My father in law waited for six months for his.
Drum brakes are fine.
I haven't had any issues with mine.
👍
Yep!
I guess I’m glad they changed the color but I really don’t like it for a long time this year myself, it looks like an early 70s design.
Yeah, I can see that!
I reach 100 miles with 2019 (162,5 km) before I need to switch on RES.
Nice!! are you running stock gearing?
@@MOBStreet83 Yep full stock, even the tires.
60 mpg but it's full throttle most of the time 😂
Yeah, there are times that mine is too!
Yes I like the new colors. But until they do something about that anemic engine it's a no from me,
It might be anemic, but it is rock solid and reliable.
I prefer the '22 and '23 color.
I like it as well my 2021 is that same color. I'm a fan of this new one though. The 18-20 color scheme is still my favorite though.
So, no changes other than the color scheme? Wake me up for fuel injection and rear disk, not until.
Nope only the color......you might be sleepin' for quite a while Rip Van Winkle 😴
Yeah, or get the older bike and add the side panels, front and rear fender and have an all black TW! So many options!
I'll go on the record as not being wild about the new color. I miss that year they did the previous design but in brown/tan instead of gray/black (I have the gray/black, 2021.)
As for the specs, hard to keep up with all the changes they made to this sophisticated machine! Jk, if they changed anything I'd probably be furious anyways. Down with ethanol, carb 4 life I say
My favorite color was the black and tan for sure! The Tdub is just keepin' it simple. The way we like it.
Bike serms to be too expensive for what youre getting. The Honda Xr150L is under 3k.
Yeah, but you are getting what you pay for with the XR from what I have heard. I have been really happy with my TW's and the upkeep on them has been super easy. But, I don't know since I haven't seen the XR in person yet.
Doesn't stack up to well against the Honda XR150 at all. Can't believe I just said that, but there it is.
Yeah it does. I'd still take the TW over the XR150. The only thing I think that is actually "better" is the price. If I could get my hands on one I would love to do some side by side comparisons with it. But, that is also what is great about it all.....we can all choose what we want and enjoy the ride!
Bagay sa tropa AFP
Rally ang tropa noon at sakay na tayo!
What's old is new and what's new is old LOL. :)
Yep! 😂
😂 We'll just have to keep waiting to see! I agree with others though, don't change it....maybe just add a bigger brother model to the mix.
@@MOBStreet83 Ok, I'll build it for them. 250 powerplant, Fuel injection, exhaust, rear disc, led lights, skid plate, pegs, bars, racks, 241 front, who's in ? 😊
Yeah I agree with several others about the color, I don't care for it at all, easy to paint over it Iguess.
That works! Simplicity!
@@MOBStreet83 I do want to put a bigger tank on my TDUB, I saw a video of a clear gas tank and the guy hooked up LEDs on bottom of it, when turned on at night looked really cool. (Clark Tank)
So, a new color. Alert the media.
wow
Yep! That's all that I believe will ever really change on the TW. Until they decide to do a full revamp of the bike.
I'm just a fool. Every year I get my hopes up about fuel injection or 250cc engine or bigger tank but all they ever change is the different color. Well, there is always next year.
Nah, I wouldn't say fool I would say hopeful. I hope they keep the TW, but adding a big brother 350 or 400 to the TW lineup would be awesome.
🤟🖤🤟
Thanks Atilla!
Yeah, I can see what you mean.
2024???? so its a 1987 still? oh boy! new colors!
Actually, it's more like a 2001 with new colors and some cosmetic changes since then.
Another Yamaha with that gloomy-ass gray... 😑 Was hoping heavily for something a little more eye-catching, but wasn't hoping too hard as this isn't terribly surprising.
Yeah, not a whole lot of innovation. But, I don't mind this color. But, I am fan of the simple
New color scheme sucks. Trying to mimic the retro look of the Honda Monkey 😆 🤣
Or they are throwing it back to their late 90's style
196cc for $5,000.00? Hell no.
It'll last you forever though. I haven't regretted buying either of mine.
Carburetor? No thanks.
Really? Why not? I haven't had any issues with mine.
Nothing says "Yamaha aren't changing squat" more than using the same stock photos every year and just photoshopping new color scheme LOL. They are not even spending money on a photographer! :) ... and I'm ok with that!
You saw that too huh! I had to look a couple of times just to make sure it wasn't the same color! 😂😂
I don’t like the color at all for TW200 2024 !
No colors! Is the same you watch a black/white Tv !
Well, then this is the "white" since the last three years were "black"! Sorry, I couldn't help it.
The color is awful.. So disappointed 🤮
Definitely not a very creative one.
