For a while, my favourite female drummer has been Nao Kawakita of the band Maximum The Hormone. The sheer ferocity of her playing combined with the fact that she also takes on lead vocal duties in certain sections makes her a real force to be reckoned with.
Yes, she is an inspiration to other lady drummers.

Tarn Softwhip is perfection behind the kit. Her "Bat Country" cover blows my mind. There's so much drum work in that song and she plays out perfectly. The best cover I've seen of it.
The drumer from a japanese band Maximum the hormone is sick and she does vocals too they are best known for the second opening of death note
Anika Nilles is easily one of my favorite drummers. She has such incredible technique and hits incredibly hard but plays with perfect dynamics and subtlety.

Jen ledger is one of my favorite girl drummers. She's the reason I went back to drumming.
Great to see Junna, she's a monster and is going to grow a lot more in the years to come. For now, I'll take Akane from BAND-MAID as my go-to female drummer.

Maytal Cohen really deserves to be on this list, not just because she's beautiful, she's really good. Anybody that can play Rush and Dream Theater and make it look effortless, and play it flawlessly is a top 10 drummer in my book.

Yea for sure Metal Coyhen is smooth as silk always in the pocket aka great timing has the technicals ( aside from helicopter double kicks and a few other Super elite techs ) She’s smart ( you know how hard it is to memorize and play Tom Sawyer it’s more than half the battle on that one . She does lack evidence of my two most important assets for a drummer Creativity and BEAT SELECTION because she does covers so can’t really judge her on those tho I can surmise she has some measure of both. For the record I don’t need to hear timing is the most important asset I know and that should just be a given because to be a drummer period you have to have at least medium strong to very strong timing .

You definitely need to check Yoyoka out. She's like 10 or 11 and absolutely rocks the hell out on her vids. She mostly does covers but she has some solo vids too. I recommend one of her Zeppelin or RATM covers. You're welcome.
While watching this list, I was hoping to see Senri. I started following her YEARS ago because I was blown away. All these drummers are killer, but Senri helped me get into more than just metal and discover more artists that she's worked with. Crazy talent.
Yoyoka is one of my favorites, she is 10 years old now, but she also started at 2. She was on the Ellen show twice now. :-)
Akane from Bandmaid is a beast, I’m sad she isn’t on here :( if you haven’t heard of her you gotta check out some live Bandmaid stuff, she’s got skills

And she plays guitar/bass and sings. Some of the songs where playing along to the recording got blocked, I guess making a full band cover was allowed.

I can recall seeing plenty of dudes who don’t hit half as hard as her. She’s one of my main influences and a good chunk of that is her energy and drive. The Japanese girl here reminds me a lot of Jen too so it’s upsetting she ain’t on this list
I second that. I saw skillet live. She broke out in a 5 minute solo that blew my mind. She's definitely not the most technical drummer, but who cares? She plays with soul. The only other male or female drummer that I've studied who plays with more soul is Mike Portnoy.

Great list! However, if you’re unaware of Yoyoka, you are missing out on something your soul needs! She’s another Japanese princes that comes from a family of musicians and she plays with style and ease with the bright eyes of a little girl that loves drumming like eating cookies.

Glad to see my two favorites on this list. Junna of Girlsrockband Kakumei and the amazing Senri Kawaguchi. They are so different in style and yet I love both of them.

yeah these are all younger girls... but cant leave out Sheila E (Escobedo). She had her own band in the 80s and Played with Prince.... her father was percussionist for Carlos Santana at Woodstock (1969 Woodstock)!!

Thanks for this video! When I was a young girl I wanted to learn how to play the drums but my parents didn't want that "noise" in the house. I settled on a violin--go figure. Scratchy violin or "noisy" drums, which might have been worse?! Anyway, nice to see some talented female drummers and I can dream thru them. Haven't played my instruments (that violin, guitar and bass guitar) in quite but this might get me in the mood again. Thank you Samus for your videos. Fun and entertaining. Keep it going. 🤘🥁🎸

My favourite female drummer is Abigail Cristea from Lilliac, she’s American 🇺🇸 in her siblings/ family band. Parents are Romanian from Transylvania

Alex Dover She’s definitely my favorite due to her music taste being very similar to mine, and she’s quite good, but most of the drummers on this list blow her out of the water in the skill department. And she doesn’t really need the exposure. She’s already pretty well known in the UA-cam drumming world.

Gotta agree that Akane from BAND-MAID is pretty damned legit and has a lot of energy as well as hitting those drums nice and hard, the way you ought to. She and Misa, their bassist, groove and crunch equally well. I was pleased to see the variety of styles you showcased on here, nicely done! I also happen to be a big fan of Ami Kim; she's not only pretty as a picture, she has skills and her full band cover videos are pretty cool as well. Good video, man!
