  • Trying to figure out how you can provide value to others online can really be a pain, especially when you're starting out. Even though I've been releasing a few timelapse videos over the last few years, consistency isn't my strongest talent. That being said, I'm excited to begin sharing my plans for 2024, and they include a desire to connect more with the people who enjoy watching and learning as I pursue my passion for chasing storms. I'm hoping you'll get to see so much more and I'll be revealing that in future videos as well.

Glad to see you back in your creative lane after jumping into the NFT rabbit hole. Looking forward to your photography again.

I'll be coming along with you, literally and digitally, for the months and (hopefully) years to come. Like you, I have always strived to develop my own style that sets me apart from the mass of photographers out there. I feel I've accomplished that to some degree. My weak area is the social media involvement. First, when I'm not actively shooting (during the long droughts when the desert looks dry, dusty, and dead) I find it incredibly difficult to make time for social media. If I don't have fresh content, there's no excitement and I lack the motivation to even open platforms like Facebook. The other issue is TIME. When I'm not actively photographing on a regular basis I have 2.5 acres and two homes to maintain, and that hogs up a ton of my time. And when I'm done working I'm tired and not feeling particularly social. I'm a loner by nature so I like to be upbeat when I do interact with others and if I'm tired I can't be that. So the social media doesn't fit very well in my current lifestyle, but I make time during storm season because I'm invigorated by the excitement of catching some new amazing thing nature has to provide. And I love sharing that with others, so the desire to be social is somewhat baked in to the photography itself. If I could afford to chase storms most of the year by traveling across the country I could build a more consistent stream of content for my followers, but as it stands my content is hit and miss. I'm either uploading regularly or I'm going a month or two between videos or new pictures. Not how I choose to have it, just the way it is. And whatever will be will be, as they say. In the meantime I'll be following along with your adventures and sharing mine when they do happen and we can all be who we are, whether that is someone who always has something interesting to contribute and posts regularly all year long or someone who just pops in and out to provide content where they can. I wish you luck in all your endeavors going forward and looking forward to riding along whether that is on social media or bumping into each other out in the desert on the times we choose the same storms. Here's to a wonderful and successful 2024! May Mother Nature grant us the proper weather to excel!
