I remember this storm so vividly.
It was the very last day of year 11 and my bus (301 route to Toombul) dropped me off on Zillman road, about 1.5km from my house. I remember looking at the storm front rolling in and thinking, holy shit, I need to run home NOW.
I was in school uniform with all my bags running home and I remember getting looks from people in their cars, meanwhile the storm was coming in closer.
As I neared home it started raining and the storm was coming overhead, the blackest clouds I'd ever seen and I'd grown up in SEQ my whole life.
As soon as I got through the door the hail started pelting down, I'd never seen anything quite like it.
Was always glad I had the common sense to run home though

We were celebrating our first Thanksgiving away from home in Bowen Hills that day. This hit an hour before our party started. For reasons I cannot fathom, we still had a lot of Aussies brave this chaos in order to join us!

On that arvo, I managed to make it onto a train at Park Road once the hail began. The sound of hail pelting that train cabin was ridiculously loud. The train remained there for a few hours which gave me enough time to venture to UQ via bus to grab some dinner... saw a whole bunch of trees uprooted. Really sad site considering I did my undergrad and postgrad there.

"Help!!! Call police" is right...while the windshield wipers wave ineffectually back & forth in the air...
During the first ride across the bridge, notice the distinct green color in the clouds on the left. That's always a very foreboding sign in an approaching storm.

I remember that storm. I’d just started my new job that week on the 21st floor of Riparian plaza. The windows in the building rattled and we saw a deck chair and someone’s clothes horse fly past the window, swept away from a nearby apartment building. (It landed on Friday’s roof). When the storm finished, the city smelt like a garden salad from all the freshly shredded leaves stripped off the trees. And so many cars had smashed out windows. The bus stops on Adelaide st were packed to the max with people as the trains were down.

I remember reading in the paper about a woman in the Logan area where it was really bad whose car windows had been smashed in by the hail so she used her own body to protect her baby. She was covered in massive bruises with a big cut on her face. It was strange because the northern part of Brisbane I lived in was barely touched, just trees and some power lines taken down, debris etc. To read how someone was almost battered to death by hailstones was surreal.

I remember that storm. I nearly finished year 1 when that happened. My grandparents picked me up and said ‘WE HAVE A BIG STORM COMING, WE DONT HAVE TIME TO GO TO MACDONALDS, WE NEED TO GET HOME BEFORE IT HITS US. We went home and during that storm, we lost power for a couple of days. A couple of hours after we lost power. We went to my aunties and uncles house to pick up some candles and then returned home. The alarm was going off so my grandfather turned it off while my grandmother and I were in bed. My parents were in England then. A couple of days later, the power is back on.

Alot of us that got caught in it, we got hurt real bad like myself, everyone got scared & didn't no what to do & I got stepped on real bad it left my paralyzed from the waist down? I have 2 spinal bones that are split to pieces that they can't fix, and I miss walking around with my family and friends!! So if your in a heavy spot Jeremy, stay alert and keep yourself safe okay ?? I was in grade 4 at the time and I didn't have to go to school the day after because part of our Dam flooded into the main entrance way into our accerage and there was a ton of trees and branches across the road we took to school so I just spent the day relaxing

I remember that day. Had to close down Work because several skylights in the factory started leaking and one shattered. Good reason to use the insurance to re-roof the entire factory the week after. Never had a problem the next time things started getting Stormy. The Boss even had us park our cars inside the next time we had a severe hailstorm.

Usually when you get that kind of hail a funnel cloud could dip down at anytime and do some horrible damage.

@@truckingwithwim8039 Not exactly. Many funnel clouds may form during a frontal disturbance. But the ones that make it all the way to the ground are then designated as tornados.

I don't know if this was the day but I remember I became completely drenched just after 10 seconds of stepping out then the train stopped operating because the tracks were flooded so I had to get off way before my actual stop. I know it was in late 2014 so this could be it?
