  • HOW Is THIS Even POSSIBLE With RESIN?! A Video by Daniel Cooper
Hi all, In todays video we re-visit The Resin Art Vortex Marble! This technique is used in glass art... Have a search up on here, you will see some absolutely crazy pieces! I have always wanted to bring the effect to the Resin Art world.
I first tried this technique with Resin in #97 and whilst I achieved a good marble, it had some major problems and was not the easiest of ways to create the effect. I have since re-visited it several times and each time had a little better success, this is where I am happy to call this a MK.2 prototype, which we can actually wear as a pendant.
This Resin art effect is insane and much easier to create!

This looks fun. I'll need to give it a whirl. Do you think that nail polish would work in 2-part resin as well?

As long as you keep in mind that the polish he is using here is a uv cure resin in itself and will not cure in a 2 part cure resin. I'd recommend making the back with 2 part separately, allowing it to cure, then adding the desired effect to the outside and then blacking out afterwards👍

You can still use the ring light as an overhead light, get a large piece of white opake (bendable) plastic and attach it to two of the edges. (Like an onion ring sitting on a hotdog bun.) It will keep the intensity of the light but break up the ring of light in the reflection we and the camera see.

(This is Mikes other half... I love that going to try that right away. I do others kind of like that and what I found when holding it with the plyers is to wrap the handles of the plyers with a rubber band it holds the plyers closed super tight and then you don't have to keep a strong grip and take a chance of dropping it. Might help when do that as then you can spin it to get the resin even all the way around before putting it under the light. But so, loving all the cool things you keep coming up with, Thanks for all the cool things and new ideas. Just love watching your videos. I follow you on Facebook and as soon as I see you have some new video up, I'm already announcing it in the house.

Hey Daniel! I have a tip...of course I do lol, when you grab the peice with pliers ready to dip? Secure your plier handles with a rubber band, it will enable you to spin the piece perfectly, no drips, no thick parts...nice and even, also heat the resin in your dip pot, quick blast with a heat gun, it makes it run a little looser. The pendant is gorgeous and I appreciate you taking the time to perfect it xx

@daniel..cooper instead of the black nail varnish on the back, could you not sink the 'marble' into some black resin instead of clear? I really do love this effect, I created something similar using the metallic mica powders and alchol inks. The gold mica with turquoise ink looked stunning 👍🏻 love your experiments. Picked up a lot of from watching them 😊
