Just a note of safety, you don’t want to handle uncured resin with your bare hands. Your skin can absorb the chemicals from the resin. Over time This can be very bad for your liver, etc. Also if you are using resin that says that is fume free, it is not fume free. You just can’t smell the fumes. Again overtime this can cause lung inflammation and serious, scarring and illness. I encourage you to work in a well ventilated room, which I’m sure you do. And to wear the proper respirator and definitely some good gloves. Please stay safe everyone out there in art land and don’t take for granted that these art medium companies truly have your best interest at heart. Never take for granted because some thing says it’s safe that it will continue to be safe if used frequently. They can tell you that it’s safe for one time use or in frequent use. But if you’d like to pour every day or this is how you make your living or want to make your living, you need to take all of these precautions. ( this goes for acrylic paint also. Use good ventilation) Keep creating!
I learned this a hard way. I suffer from migraines and couldn't figure out why I couldn't get rid of this one migraine that I had for a month, until I left my house one day, I have social anxiety bordering on paragoria so I go very rarely do and I realized it was gone after about an hour out of mt hone ar my daughter's, but within 15 minutes of walking back into my house it came back, even though I do my resin art downstairs tge fumes were coming upstairs
I didn't read all the comments... But my suggestion is to flip the mold upside down and just drape the uncured resin over it like a table cloth. Let it cure that way into any shape you want to make ... Even into a bowl shape....It's a lot easier than fitting it inside the mold.

There was one "for boys" that made bugs and one "for girls" that made jewelry. But I had a friend who had the jewelry one, and I wanted that more than I had ever wanted anything in my life up to that point. Because some of the plastic blanks looked shimmery just like this.

It's a good thing to remind everyone to be sure their working table is very level. Admittedly, I didn't check my table with a level, never dreamed it could be so off kilter. Well, after pouring my lovely coasters I went about other business and came back to check on my coasters, only to find my pour was pouring right out of the moulds, onto my silicone mat, and even further into my table. Ugh. Lesson learned, don't skip a step - it saves time and money in the long run.

Abstract art is the factor in this equation! You do yourself proud in the way you paint and mix your colors! Julie, thank you so much for your detailed “teaching” style that covers all the bases. You give me confidence and a “foolproof” method with the notebook, timing, temping and go-for-it attitude and instructions. THANK YOU This piece is stunning! It looks like a piece of velvety/satiny cloth. What a base or stand to display another piece of art on! You go girl!
A tip when using flakes or pigments...go over them gently with a make-up wedge after application to remove excess pigment...use a dabbing motion or gently rub ...you can also try applying them with the wedge on larger products that don't require precision but a brush application is great to.This project turned out beautiful...I love your content 💛💛 I would gladly buy your test pieces...do you sell any of your creations?
This would make a lovely place to set those flameless LED tea lights or some other kind of little light on. or maybe even embed them in the resin. The flicker would cast beautiful shadows.

I started looking at resin videos randomly and stumbled upon this video and I just want to say that the way you speak to us makes my inner child happy.
Lovely piece of art! 😍 ...Though if you absolutely need function you can turn it into multiple things. A clock if you drill a hole in it, maybe bookends if you cut it in half and made bases for them, you can treat it like a giant coaster (for bowls or those giant mugs, lol) or an oversized paperweight. Personally, I'd just put it on one of those clear plate stands (if it fits) and put it on a shelf or glue something on the back to hang it on the wall from. 😅 If you want to get really fancy, sand all the edges/sides with fine sandpaper so it looks frosted and put a strip of battery powered LED lights around it then figure out a frame to hide the strip lights behind and it could be a nightlight as well as illuminated art. 😉
Gorgeous! It would be beautiful sitting on a picture stand in a well lit area.
