- #248. Resin Art Cabochons Using HOME MADE MICA Inks!
In todays Resin Art video we 'Crack' a brand new resin art technique but this time, we try mica powder inks! If you haven't seen the previous video, be sure to check it out as there may also be answers to some questions you may have.
I think these resin pieces came out amazingly! The colors are stunning and the bands really make them look like natural Tugtupite which is a rare gem from Greenland!
This is by far my favorite resin technique to date!
Ok, now for the disclaimer! Isopropyl alcohol is extremely flammable! NO FLAMES OR TORCHES! NO SOURCES OF IGNITION! Isopropyl can self ignite but it requires a temperature of 400C/750F, UV resin can get hot whilst curing (not as hot as the isopropyl needs to be to self ignite) however, Isopropyl fumes can ignite if there are any sources of ignition near by, I do not know which lamps you are using or if they may have breaks in the wires (source of ignition).... for this, I am advising not to try this experiment at home!

Hi all, not the petri video I had planned to post as quite a few asked about trying mica so thought I would post an update vid on this instead 😁😁x
The black were my favorite ones they have so much texture to them I love that!! All are gorgeous 😍
Do this on epoxy resin please
Hi, are you using alcohol with mica powder
Gorgeous Opal vibes... beautiful ❤😊
These are absolutely amazingly beautiful!
Your work always wows me 😮. Although the black background is nice the white wows me.

Ooooooooh I love these Daniel, your our resin genius, these do really look like stones.😍😍😍 I recently purchased the neon powder, but I have to order the bottles first, I'll send you pictures of what I get. As always, thank you for sharing your new discoveries, we are all waiting for them.
All turned out beatiful. 😊
Both sets are beautiful but I love the depth in mica powder ones. Gorgeous pieces. ✌️❤️🤣 peace, love and happiness
Another stunner, Daniel!
Thanks 😁 😊
Another incredible experiment, you blow my mind ❤
Absolutely beautiful. I LOVED the black!
Thank you 😊
Absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful ❤
You COULD mix mica and neon to create pearlescent neon colours… that would really make them look like marble in my opinion :) you’re welcome xx
I love this technique cracks or no cracks ha
Hey Daniel, absolutely stunning, they really do look like natural stone! Brilliant experiment x
Thanks so much 😊
Oh yeah another great experiment by Mad Men Cooper
Thank you 😊
I love these and that black one on the left looks like there is a tree trunk at the top and rocks all over the piece love it
Thanks Kim 😁 😊 🫂
I love your experiments
Thank you 😊
These are stunning. Love the White backing...❤
Thank you 😊 🙏
Wow those are gorgeous!!
These are stunning Daniel. I love the effect you get. I can’t wait to try making some resin stuff.
the black backing would be really nice with silver, blue and purple. 🖤🖤
Kinda labradorite-y maybe?
Gorgeous Daniel love these especially the ones backed in white and so easy to do thank you for sharing this 👍👍👍
Thanks Mary 😁
These are so beautiful!
❤❤❤ wow wow
Oh my my my! They are GORGEOUS!
Thanks Anna 😁 😊 🫂
OMG!!!!❤❤❤❤ I love love the 6,7, and the 8th ones you showed. As always gorgeous pieces Daniel!
Well you did it again these are beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
Love watching you create! Thanks for all the ideas 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
those are beautiful. the black is pretty but a whole different look. the white shows off the colors so well.
Thanks Rhonda 😁 😊 🫂
Wow they're amazing, I definitely think the white backing is better , I love them all ❤
These are gorgeous😍
These are beautiful Dan
Thanks Wendy 😁
It is closest to opals that I have yet seen.
Stunning.
Wow, thank you 😊
These are lovely!
Those are really awesome!
Oh my 😮😮 those are all amazingly beautiful 😍😍...maybe metallics or opal colors ....I love how they look like real stones 😻.
Thanks so much 😊
😮 almost mother of pearl
Thanks Melissa 😁 😊 🫂
Beautiful, my fav was white No4 and the one at the end with both. Glad you inspect everything, all the reactions, it makes great videos and eye training, nothing escapes you 😂
Thank you Alison 😊
Once again, Daniel, you blow me away with the results you achieve. 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks as always Diana 🥰
🌟 thanks for all your tips
Very welcome 😊
😊 great idea beautiful beautiful results
Thank you! 😊
Gorgeous results ❤
Daniel these are lovely. I can’t wait to try this. You do such awesome work! Thank you for teaching us so much with each of your videos. I always look forward to your next one.
Thank you 😊 Always very welcome 😁🥰🫂
I like all of the ones you did,but the black backed ones are my fav. It looks like rock ledge's.
Oh these are beautiful! Love the color choices! 🎉
Thanks so much Denise 🙏 💓
Mica with a drop or 2 of candle dye mixed with isopropyl alcohol works perfect
Awesome! Thanks 😁
The wheels are turning. Cant wait to try this out
Thanks Kelly 😁 😊
Stunning effects. I think the ones from your last video seem softer, and the ones from this video seem more rugged looking. Again, Stunning effects. Love it.😊❤
Wow Daniel, the stones look like opals. Would love to see some color shift version. The last one with lots of yellow really looked like stone. And the neon/gold combo rocked. Thanks for taking us on this journey.
Thank you 😊 Yes, I may try soon 😁😁
So beautiful! Definitely going to try this!❤
You explained the crankiness just as I was typing the question…😊 Thanks for the experimentation
Thank you 😊
Love the white backed ones, definitely agree with you Daniel. I also love the effects from the micas, they kind of draw you into them.
Thanks Lisa 😁
gorgeous
Thanks Sandra 😁
Yes, the white back look better then the black 🥰
100% 😁😁😁
Amazing Daniel, they look a little more like opals with the powder being metallic , just love em !!!
Thanks so much 🥰
All of these are gorgeous. Black or white background? I love 'em both for their own individual effects. For those that prefer the white background, take a moment to imagine a black one being worn with a black dinner dress. And vice versa. Perspective can have a definite influence on how we view things.
Thanks Katie, yes, totally agree with this 🤩
Stunning results!🤩 love them!❤
Thanks Sue 😁 😊 🫂
Brilliant as always ❤
Thank you so much 😀
I ❤’ed the black. I can’t wait to try this. And btw, you’re 🤩 amazing, Mr. Daniel!
Thanks Mindy 😁
Love love love it !
Thanks Jane 😁
I am so glad you added " do not put a torch to this or it will go up in flames" 😅
😂😂😂
Absolutely stunning!!!! 😻😻😻😻
Thank you!! 😊
These are so beautiful! You should really try some adding a bit of blue in there, it'd totally look like an opal!
🎉All are absolutely amazing 😊
Thanks Gabrielle 😁 😊 🫂
These are quite beautiful and I think more natural than the neon ones. These are believably true rocks. You know I keep trying your techniques but somehow they never look quite as nice as yours. I’ll keep on trying. Thanks Daniel. 💚
Thanks so much 🥰 🙏 🫂
Absolutely stunning results, the mica adds an organic dimension to the pour. Thanks for sharing this, you are the best.❤❤❤
Thanks so much Maddie 🙏 🫂
You have taught me so much about the why and how of using resin. I can't thank you enough for all the experiments you do. You ROCK!
Those are so amazing and so beautiful! I love the ones with the white background a lot more than the black. The black is cool, but not wow like the white.
They are cracking😂😂😂😂❤❤❤ love them.
😂😂 thanks Annie 😁 😊
They are all beautiful in their own ways but the black bk ground reminds me of outside but the white backs gorgeous ❤❤x
Thanks Vicky 😁
😍 gorgeous!
Thank you!! 😊
My hobby is gemology, white look like jelly opals & black have a Tahitian pearl effect! Bravo🎉
Absolutely beautiful ❤❤
Thanks Sarah 😁 😊 🫂
Lovely as ever.
Thanks Mike 😁 😊 🫂
@@daniel..cooper how large a ball bearing do you put in the bottles?
@@mikemccormick865 3mm 😁😁😁
Hi Daniel another amazing video these are so beautiful I'm with you the white looks so much better 😍 thanks for sharing ❤ xx
Thanks so much 😊
Simply fantastic! I have all my supplies and I am getting ready to try this for myself. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
Update: I don't think my lamp is strong enough. It doesn't heat up as well so it doesn't have the same effect, which is a bummer. I'm guessing at all of this 😊
Those are absolutely amazing!! ❤
Stunning! 💖
Thanks Gail 😁 😊 🫂
Love those not the black so much, which is odd because I usually have sorta darkish gothy steampunk taste! I'm so surprised :P I haven't tried my resin kits yet, I've been playing a lot with my polymer clay these days but you have inspired me sooooooo much Sir! thank you so much for your gr8 vids :)
Oh wow Daniel!!! This is quite an amazing technique. Can't wait for my shoulder to heal so I can try this. Now I need to make a list of UV suppliers and equipment to accomplish this. Thank you once again for sharing your knowledge and great talent❤
Thank you Julie 😊 🙏 Hooe you mend up fast 🫂
The third white backing was my favourite 😍🥰
Thanks Mary 😁
I like the black ones because the black looks like dirt or iron so it looks like it was dug up. The black one with the horizontal line looks like a super miniature painting.
Try using denatured alcohol. It is more flammable so it may cause more cracking.
Thank you 😊 🙏
So clever , just beautiful. Makes me want to try this ( not made anything with resin for a long time ) 👏👏
Truly amazing.❤
Thank you Janice 😊
I think black could work with other color combinations.. like silver, purples, blue, green. Or you could even do copper, gold, silver and a green. You always get me thinking.
100% 😁😁😁 more to come soon 😊
I love these. The colors are more subtle and gives them a more moonstone vibe to them. Definitely like the white background better.😊
Thank you 😊
Love those!! Especially the white background....
Thanks so much! 🥰
Wow!! Love this ❤ Did my own experiments with home made mica inks.......nowhere near similar to yours but amazed at the effects. Thank you for all the inspirational videos and tutorials ❤️
Really need to get more UV Resin, as I want to try this out, with so much mica powder and nail powder, yeah. This is going to be fun! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🖤
😁😁😁
gorgeous colors!!!!
Thank you 😊 🙏
Oh yeah! Gorgeous. Don’t usually like white backed. But they are perfect
Thanks Susan 😁 😊 🫂
This is really cool Daniel
Thanks Lisa 😁 😊
I look forward to trying this! Thank you!
You are so welcome! 😁
