    Guys, I just remembered an idea I forgot to mention! Once you have made the design on the flat sheet, you can use a heat gun on fresh sticks (cut down) and create a dam on the sheet before dusting.... then you have a mold! 🤩

      Bearing in mind the cost of this stuff (I'm all about the cost lol) I think using hot glue rather than the resin clay would be way more cost effective to make a dam, ...huh..wait can you make inlays with hot glue? I need to try that! x

    Did you know you could lay your stencil across the back of your mold and it will peel right off? It does even better if you rub it down in 100% silicone oil but it will definitely leave the design on your cured UV resin piece either way. But this is still ingenious Daniel temporary inlays (like a temporary tattoo 😂 which I'd love to see you incorporate in a piece) and doing the stenciled area in black was awesome it really made that interference green pop!! Hi Daniel. Another very cool idea! When you were showing your swipe and wipe examples at the beginning, I had a thought... I do leathercraft and the need to get color into your inset areas seems similar to when I need to color carving or engraving on leather. To do this on leather, you use what's called a "resist". It's typically an acrylic topcoat of some kind. You apply a couple coats, let it dry, and the apply antique stain. It will only stay in the carved / recessed areas and the excess just wipes off. So, for example, I recently made blue marble-dyed leather with gold colored carving this way. I wonder if you could do something similar to fill those recessed areas in resin? It would probably depend on what colorant you were using. But, basically, you'd just need to coat the piece with something it won't stick to, blob on your color, and wipe off the excess. I'm not to the point yet with resin where I'm able to try it myself, but it might be an interesting thing for you or someone to experiment with. Just seemed like such a similar task that I think a similar approach could make sense.

    I use your swipe and wipe method and use different amounts of the lotion, thicker in some area,and that creates different depth. After it's all cured and cleaned th lotion off,I use clear school glue mixed with mica powders and paint the colors in,coat it with a clear sealant and flood coat. I am so thankful you showed us the swipe and wipe!

    Personally, I think it might actually be easier to use that colored UV resin that you did that textured, stringy look with to work with the stencils (pull up the stencil and then cure and leave as-is or add color on top) but this stuff would definitely be best with the molds for inlays. 😉👍

It was too annoying trying to get details or large shapes and if you have a big lump melting it all down to reuse took ages. You have to pick the melted later off so the stuff underneath gets hot.

    Question: Could you lay the hot Oyumaru on top of a silicone stencil and roll flat, cool and peel off?

      Worth a try 😁 I think it would work

    And now, where do you buy it. I don’t see it on Let;s Resin nor amazon. It’s silicone clay or putty? How can I learn more about these different silicone products in comparison and what they are used for? Do you have any training about different silicones and how you use them?

    Following on from another comment I made a while ago, I can’t seem to find the resin clay you use in your videos. Definitely nothing to buy in Australia so went through all the links you’ve provided. I’m sorry I just cannot find the brand that you use. Can you please help at all, like supplying the translated name of the pack that you get? I live in regional Queensland Australia so finding anything at all is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I’ve tried Amazon Australia but you can only get modelling clay to bake.
    I’d appreciate any advice at all
    Thanking you in advance
    Kym

    I was wondering if this stuff is food safe (chocolates!!!) and then it occurred to me that DIY mouthguards/gumshields use a similar plasticky stuff you soften in v hot water and then they go in mouths all night (so have to be safe, right?!).
    I don’t know the cost difference with the Japanese stuff but the dental stuff is all white and very easily get-hold-of-able. Any use to you…?

    Daniel, could one use a glue gun to make a design? Or would the resin permanently stick to the resin as it cures?

    • @SunshineSomeday
      @SunshineSomeday 7 місяців тому +1

      And I meant instead of this molding resin clay stuff that I don't have at the moment?
      Also could one use a silicone caulk?

    I have a question for you, Daniel, but not related to this particular video. Have you ever or can you pour and cure UV resin in layers ?

    • @daniel..cooper
      @daniel..cooper  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes, most people do but you need to be careful of fresh layers working down the sides of the mold as uv resin shrinks whilst curing.
