I just turned 37 years old love rock and roll and this is the first time I've ever heard this song and I absolutely love it. Matter fact I can't stop putting the song on repeat. I remember jamming with a group of friends and at a point it was my turn to lead off the next jam (I was on bass), so I tell one of the guitarists to play this. He didn't know it, I gave him the basic progression)... he looks at me (a bit disappointed in the simplicity) and says 'that's it?' I look at him with a smile and said 'yeah'. A couple of minutes later everyone in the room 'got it' and it was one of the most memorable moments i've ever had jamming. RIP Mr. Hazel
Uttley incredible how you can take something so simple, four chords and basically nothing more than an Em scale and turn it into this!. Goes to show music doesn't have to be overly complicated or that you need to know music theory to degree level to create brilliant works.

I used to think I was pretty familiar with Funkadelic, and how these George Clinton shows went as I've attended a few back in the mid-2000's and he was most definitely not playing guitar solos. I didn't even know George played, ESPECIALLY the Maggot Brain solo! Still prefer to see Eddie play it but damn this was a pleasant surprise, no idea how I've never seen this before.
I think Mike started playing Maggot Brain after Eddie passed away. I saw them in concert many many times in the late 70’s, and grew up listening to them because of my older brothers.
