- Along with the manual which you can get from the Zoom website, this might help you set up the zoom 505 for what you want it to do. This is an amazing low cost effect box which is now about 10 years old, but works well.

Nice video, I have played this for many years live and in the studio....... one of the most underrated things in our lifetime.....
back then, and probably now, no one ever keeps it long enough to actually learn all of it .... hate it when I'm fucked up and accidentally put on the bank hold!!!! hahaha
Thanks Curtis, I've been using it again at open mic lately, throw it in the bag, plug it in and go. I always use the the bank hold :) three effects and a mute for each instrument works for me.
Still got mine, and while it's not really fit for combat (read: gigging) duty, I use it in my practice rig.
Not the most user friendly piece, but the sounds are great, and I'm a sucker for it!
This might help... from the manual:
1. Turn the unit off by disconnecting the AC adapter or the guitar input cable.
2. Keep the STORE key depressed and turn the unit on.
3. The indication "AL" flashes on the display.
4. To perform "all initialize", press the STORE key once more in this condition. The
flashing rate increases and the initialization procedure is carried out. When it is
completed, the unit automatically enters the Play mode.

Ha... I know what you mean. I had an Aria 2 pedal in the 80's and sold it... for the last few years I've been looking for it again. I'll hang on to my Zoom :)

@Sjanetsky1 I've been using this for vocals lately, and it works good. If yours is like mine it uses AA batteries which last much longer than a 9v. Happy tunes!

During the zoom 505 at its highest popularity, we don't need the manual book to learn how to edit a patch. We also don't have the internet at that time. We edit a patch using our common sense. And the pedal still working today 😂😂😂😂

It Is my first and current pedal and it works pretty well. I got lucky cuz it was slightly used and got it for 50 bucks. :)

for Those with the " problem of not holding a patch " Check the wall wart and battery connections. Check the Internal button cell battery , if present. Some form of energy besides the batts and wall wart must be present to maintain patch settings. My power hasn't died yet in all these years , however , it should..The little beasties are ollllllld .

I got the zoom a21u, lots of features (almost too many :) so it's not as simple to use. Your best bet is try stuff out at music stores to to see what suits you. Good luck.
@airsoftpaperfolding just add distortion, play around with it until you get the sound you want.
I love the preset b1 patch, but couldnt find it in the later produced zoom g2 : (

@LetDavidTV : I'm sure you can, just got to play around with it till you get the sound you want. I never used the distortion but your "deth metal" would be you effect of choice. Good Luck and play on.
Just make sure you hit the store TWICE so it saves it (5:17) and gives you the flashing lights. I hope that helps.

try it with both battery and adapter, if it still don't work you probably bought a defective unit. If there are old batteries in replace them. Good luck.
@thejoshcarden, step on both pedals at the same time.
I added a patch now all the banks have just that patch. What did I do wrong?

hiya i have a question, how do you use the volume control and wah effect? the manual you need a pedeal to go into the controll jack and iv done that but i cant get it to work
Yes I have been doing that plus I reset the unit back to factory settings but it still won't hold the patch , any more ideas ?
yes, you have to press the STORE key for a few seconds, and thats it. You can download the manual from goo*le, it might be helpful for other stuff too
can i use delay and wah wah together? i heard here it has delay but i am not sure if it has wah wah?
@derramedeunfluido - This is an old unit, doubt you could even buy it new anymore. Probably was about $80 new.

Hey RPA I have a question. When I plug in all that comes up is 01. I hit every button and it wont change at all. Is there some sort of factory reset? I'm unable to DL the user manual because I am on my PS3. Any help would be great.

I have followed your instructions and when I have saved a patch it plays ok till I move off that patch and try to set up another , it just seems to be unable to save any patches I set , it I driving me nuts please can you help

@madcatshred sorry man, can't help you. I've never done pinch harmonics, at least not on purpose. Try to do it without it in a chain with the other affects, if it works, you might be able to isolate which other effect is in conflict. Good luck.
Short of changing the batteries out if you are using them, your 505 may be broke for that function. Might be able to pick up another one cheap. Sorry I couldn't help you more.
Do you know where I can get any patch settings to play the shadows music please?
I don't really know, I would think you would have to make adjustment to the tremolo patch... I sure the sound is in there, you just have to work it out. I forgot how cool Apache is... I learned it once, now I'll re-learn it I think.

yo man! can we do me a favor? I have a question regarding zoom 505. why the drive "LD" doesn't allow to do pinch harmonics? I have a zoom 505 here combining it with other pedals. I like the tone of "LD" because it's a nice tone but the bad thing is, I can't perform quick pinch harmonics on it. Please reply as soon as you've red my message. thank you!

my 505 wont work. When i turn it on it has "O1" patch and doesnt make any sound :/
Well when I swith between 2 patches, A1 to A2 for example,number 2 starts blinking and I have po press both pedals to change it and use A2.How can I switch by only pressing right or left pedal?I hope you understand my problem,any help will be wellcome

ahh... you press and hold the Store button. Should fix the problem. Although it is a great feature to be able to switch between different effects

Si on se contente du mode "overdrive" avec la simulation de baffle, et qu'on coupe l'équaliseur qui bouffe du son, c'est pas trop mal. les presets sont beaucoup trop chargés.

That should not happen, maybe you were in edit mode? The beginning of the video shows how it should work.
