I can't agree with you more! My autoimmune disorder (spinal arthritis) went into remission shortly after I followed Marie Kondo's advice. I was stunned. I totally agree that minimalism reduces our stress, lets the overactive brain really rest (finally), and takes a mental burden off. It's no doubt that this can lead to lower CRP (inflammation) levels. Thanks for putting a video out there about this. Little has been said about this approach to chronic illness, but I think it is HUGE.

Right on. Reduce all stress and surround yourself with only the things that make you feel really great. That's how healing starts! :)

Thanks for talking about this, those with health issues especially benefit so much from a simplified life. Watching all these decluttering videos got me slightly irritated because they achieve so much and I barely have enough energy to do basic things around the house. Living with nerve damage, fibro and endometriosis is slowing all progress down to a glacial pace. Where I live makes thing so much harder...the house is distributed on five floors and I have bad knees lol yeah I need to move! I know that being more minimalist and clutter free will help me mentally and physically in the long run so that’s the goal 🙌

You’re so right! I started purging my house 2 days ago and it’s WONDERFUL! I broke it down into individual tasks to do one day at a time and I just got my closet done. Now on to the bathroom. 👏🏻 The stress is melting away and my peace is returning.

I was looking for a video about the connection between decluttering and health. Then I found you. I have Endometriosis as well. It filled my life with a lot of pain and it nearly took the life of my baby during its birth earlier this year. it’s such an underestimated illness.
Thank you for this video and for sharing your story!
I am already curious about the other videos :)

I've been looking for people talking about the link between simplifying and chronic Illness and this is exactly what I needed to hear. I've had CFIDS and Fibromyalgia for many years and have also struggled with the stress of clutter and managing both. I've decided it's time to really change things because my health is definitely negatively affected. Thank you for sharing this and for the inspiration. I know if others with pain can do this, I can do this.

i just wanted to say I have been wanting to declutter for months as I am disabled and in constant pain and also have depression and anxiety and just am sick of stressing over stuff , I have watched loads of decluttering and minimalism videos , but I found yours a few days ago and I have been binge watching them and since watching you I haven't been thinking about decluttering , I have actually been decluttering , I have gone through my clothes , and donated loads I have gone through ornaments and nicknacks and donated loads , I have sorted a lot of important documents out and filed them and I have sorted through years and years of photographs and now have one box of photos , so I want to say thank you , I have a whole house to go through and watching all the other you tube vids out there I couldn't get motivated but you have helped me to start small and just keep going so thank you so so much , in just a few days I have done a bit but really its quite a bit just need to get hubby on board now lol xx oh just edited this to add I really like your idea of taking labels off things and I have taken the back label of creams and sprays in my bathroom but left the front label on but just turned them in the bathroom cudboard so the blank side is showing but I still know what it is as the label is still on one side , :o)

Hi Barnetta! I'm new to your channel but want to tell you that minimizing my possessions helped me feel control amidst the chaos of invisible illnesses too. You expressed that so well. Thanks!

I just made a major move from Florida to Kansas with my husband, daughter and son-in-law. It was one of the most stressful things I have done in my life. We took a very small amount of stuff with us and no furniture except our mattresses. We are only replacing what we really need. I am on medication for depression and anxiety and just fought breast cancer. I hope this will help me cope with everything I am going through. Thank you for your great videos.

We just purged about 1/2 of what we own and had an epic yards sale that has continued all week as we now are kinda obsessed with selling our stuff and decluttering. I wish there was another term for living with less than minimalism- The energetic effect has been stunning for my wife and I. We are both calmer, less anxious, feeling closer (yeah bc we don't have a bunch of shite to manage)...I've been in the health, medical and psychology fields for 30 years and when I became an RN I was able to see how clearly dis-ease is related to personality types, lifestyle choices (where one lives and how), careers (Type A-B-and C), and inner stories we have from childhood that all facilitate ill-ness and dis-ease.
I had to face my perceived need for stuff and things from my life and what it meant to me. I call it the "Death of Sentimentality"- I've still got 6 bins to go through & the tedious task of digitalizing photos, news articles, etc.
BAsically just chucked it all in order to create space to live the rest of my life focused on EXPERIENCES vs crap, managing crap, finding crap, buying crap.
We create our health and we create our stories of what we think we need or how we get attention.
Being mindful and brave to look at what and how we create and design our lives-every single aspect is 1st step.

Dear Barnetta, greetings from Malaysia! I came across your videos and they just absolutely connected with me, all the words you said just *clicked*!!
I have endometriosis too and I just had a second operation to remove an ovarian cyst. Coming back from it, I told myself enough is enough, I need to make some changes in my life or I might be looking at a 3rd operation.
I strongly suspect that my "things" around me are causing these "negative" energy which is the underlying cause of this illness.
Unfortunately I'm finding it hard to let go of all these stuff. I'm currently living in my mum's home, she has passed away 7 years ago, and while I have made some progress in letting go some of her stuff, there are still a lot of it left. Sometimes I'll just open a cupboard and going thru the stuff (which I admit does not "spark joy" ), I'll just end up chucking it all back in and not doing anything about it. I know this is so unhealthy.
Ok ok, I'll admit not all of it are my mum's stuff, a lot of it are mine too, I guess I inherited the packrat mentality from my mum and her mum who came from tough times who seldom threw things away, and found the need to keep things for a rainy day or "just-in-case".
This is my first "confession" about all this and I feel relieved getting it off my chest. :)
I hope to continue to make baby steps in the right direction, and one day get the space and Peace that I aspire.
Thanks for making these videos, they really help me and give me motivation. Keep 'em coming!
    Much love,
    Pearly
p/s I absolutely adore the way you always end the video with your trademark "there's no one like you" speech.

i swear itslike we have the same story i can definetly relate but you know whats my problem ? all of the clutter and stuff are my mother's so its more frustrating cause I have no control on her stuff and I just wake and and stare at the things and I feel like I am absorbing all of her clutter into me and that really influences my productivity
