I don’t think there’s a negative review of this watch out there, but the cost of that bracelet… a bit or way bit out of my price range. Thanks for the great review!

What an incredible watch
Lovely clean looking watches. We have the same wrist size but I cannot get away with that style with it being all dial. That is their aesthetic but I would love them to do a 36mm which kinda defeats the watches intended diseign. Great review James. Looks good on you 😊
It would probably sell. People are moving to the smaller sizes

Nice piece, I recall the head to head you did with the Sinn 556i. Like other commentators on here, the bracelet cost is an issue. It's what I tend to fork out for a whole watch 😂
It was scary to spend that much on it.

Great review, I've always had my eye on the Damasko brand and the DS really floats my boat. I am keen on the Sinn 556i, which will dress up better, but I think this DS30 has the edge and is truly a one watch collection, I have decided to get one in the next few months.

I concur. I have the DS86 and ordered a bracelet after 1 year of using it with the black strap. The bracelet will totally change it and elevate it , making it more rugged and resistant. However only time will tell if the value holds up
They make brilliant watches and the bracelet is as good as I hoped.
Nice review. It's funny, initially I was looking at the watch on the bracelet and thinking meh, then you showed it on the strap and I suddenly got it. I like the date, very subtle and the matching second hand looks good too.
It has made a big difference to how it wears.
Plus I just like it.

Damasks isn’t as popular because people don’t want to spend so much money on a watch without heritage. And the way they charge almost 600 euro extra for the bracelet is insane.
It is a lot. But I am happy that I ended up spending it.

I think this is on of the finest examples of this style watch today. It is so clean, yet bold. That bracelet is a head turner. The best part for me is that Lug to Lug width! My 6 inch wrist doesn't like anything over 49mm. Damasko for the WIN!
It is amazing. Especially how it sits on wrist.
My wrist is 6.9” but the width is just like 52mm, I don’t like watches above 47mm, just a little too big for me.

Very nice review, James! Great watch! If you look at this watch on the bracelet as the whole package, the bracelet’s price hurts a little less. It’s a comparable price to the Sinn 556 on bracelet!

I have taken that leap of faith a number of times and generally wonderful results most notably from Venezianico
My only disappointment over the years has been the Hitori Habuka decent watch but disappointing dial
But will be taking the leap again soon

Great review. I absolutely agree on the bracelet; it looks so much more complete with it. Perhaps i missed it - apologies if i did - but how big is your wrist? Ive wanted one for ages, but like you say, its hard to find one to try on!

Somewhere I read that Sinn and Damasko used the same supplier for the case of this model and the 556. Maybe it is SUG Glashütte.
Great review and great choice! I agree that Damasko don't get much love, but I think they could spend a bit more on marketing to change that (I for one have never seen on of their adverts), as CW or Yema are in similar position regarding brick and mortar stores, but they put out a lot of ads and have a lot more fans as a result. Personally I think they look great, especially their central minute chronos, which could be a real USP if they got the word out!

Very good review James, but the Elabore level is not top of the range, there are 2 other levels above, TOP and COSC. Fully agree, date at 6 would be great and also slightly bigger, why don’t manufacturers think about older enthusiasts too, whose eyesight may not be what it once was ?? Subscribed and liked.

Elaborated 2824 isn't the top of range, but second in line. Above it you have the Top and the COSC. Sinn 556 uses the Top, for example.

@@shawnlavigne9069Sinn did use ETA movements, but now ETA is only suppling movements to brands within the Swatch group. Sinn is now using Sellita movements. Sellita is just as good as ETA.

With the custom U-Boot steel bracelet, this blows the Sinn 556 out of the water imo. Definitely on my list.

Ive owned three Damaskos including this one on the bracelet, im yet to handle a watch that feels better built regardless of price or brand. But i agree it's a leap of faith buying one as you have no chance of trying before buying.
It is an impressive watch. I’m sure I will end up with another from them at some point.

This watch looks great, but very expensive ! I’ve just bought the Laco Watch Pilot Augsburg 39 for £310 delivered. A German watch company with a heritage going back to 1925. Even a watch snob like Teddy Baldassarre rates them 😆 I’m not saying that it’s equivalent. I haven’t even received it yet!
Actually, as I’ve watched the rest of this video, I’m really drawn to the Damasko and as a Sinn 556 alternative, it stands up incredibly well!
It is an incredible watch. Definitely not what I would consider affordable. Especially with the bracelet.
But I love it.
I've always loved this watch. But the butterfly clasp is a deal breaker for me. Looks great, but I can never get a comfortable adjustment.
It was an interesting choice. I like the way it looks and that they are doing something different. But I think perhaps a more standard clasp would have been better.
It's a nice looking watch with decent specs but it's over a grand here in the US and for that money I can pick up an Oris or Longines on a Joma or Ashford sale.
At these prices it does get hard to justify.
Definitely worth shopping around to find the right one for the collection

They are great watches, but the reason they are not well known, is because in my opinion, they are overpriced. 1200 usd for a basic 3 hand everyday watch is a bit much for me. Great channel, thanks James.

Being a submariner, the term submariner steel strikes me as a vague marketing term. Could mean any number of things.

It is certainly an interesting material and feels different to normal stainless steel

A very nice piece! I have one German made watch - the Heinrich Helicoprion. I love it! But the price is about my limit 😊
They make some amazing watches.
I think for that price I would go ahead with Sinn 556i.
The sun is a great choice.
But I just prefer how the Damasko looks and in particular how it sits down in wrist.
The sinn feels like it bobbles around compared to this one.
However, I still love that Sinn.

Not a bad looking, watch but for my taste I would spend virtually the same money on the new Oris Aquis.
You can’t go wrong with Oris. They make great watches.
The ds30 is a better watch in every way
I also think it is a cool watch. i was only commenting about my personal taste. not sayi the watch is bad, I own 2 Oris Aquis and 4 vintage Oris, so I suppose I am a wee bit Biased. buy yes it is a great watch.
@@Sheepdog416 We are all entitled to our opinions, that is pppart of the reason why watches are cool.
For me, i can't stomach paying these prices for watches that are so plain in looks. If they would add some diamond cut applied indices or something, I'd be more willing. Also, the butterfly clasp i couldn't do with.
That's the great part about this hobby, though. We each can buy what we like and respect and admire others for their choices.
It’s one of my favourite parts too. Seeing other collections and different tastes.
@WATCHingJames Same, I really enjoy this style of collecting of any type of item. People who are enthusiastic and are excited to share their collection and see others. It's not about money or prestige but rather a love for the hobby in general.

Not what I would call affordable I know.
But wow is it nice.
It's a thousand to sixteen hundred dollars and you don't have a place to turn if it is faulty.
I think warranty is dealt with in Germany.
If it is anything like Stowa I can say they will organise pick up of the watch, shipping, warranty and then get it back to you.
I had an issue with my Stowa and it was amazing how they organised everything and it was back to me fixed within 14 days.

Great watch. But my brain and my wallet can´t deal with the cost of that bracelet. That's around 60% of the watch. IDW
I had the same internal battle.
But I am happy that I ended up buying it.
It's a nice watch, but it's sort of a Sinn clone, and you can get one of those for around the same price...
I just prefer it over the Sinn. The looks, feel and sizing just suits me better.

The Sinn also uses standard stainless steel, while the damasko uses submarine steel on all parts as well as titanium screws for the bracelet. Even the spring bars are made in house at Damasko.

@@jontpt Sinn only uses submarine steel on much pricier models, and damasko actually used to make cases FOR Sinn.
It's a good watch, but not the best. Male end links and a non-tapering bracelet ensure it cannot be the best.
