How-to and Reviews
Awesome. Thank you. Just painted my wall. Improved blacks, blues, contrast and colors pop. Paint more expensive. And I bought too much. Should have bought just a quart. Will try to share with friends. Great project. Cloth tape on order. Thanks again! Very happy. 👍👍💯
Awesome!
This is the BEST screen build I have seen! And I've seen at least 30. You've made my search for materials so much easier. Thanks for sharing!
I’m happy you found it helpful! I also appreciate the compliment, thanks!
Definitely outstanding job
Wow, Thank you! the right paint was the missing link for me. Great job brother
Glad it helped! I’ve seen other people recommend mixing black with it, but I’ve used the “silver screen” paint as is with zero complaints or regrets.
Great job. I painted the entire front wall of the space pitch BLACK and projecting onto it an image 4.8 meters wide in the 1.9:1 Aspect Ratio. Saved money on the felt borders! :-)) That way, and with the optical lens shift and zoom, I can make the image smaller or larger as needed, and project any AR image without worrying about frame lines. Just great. Stinky vinyl, petroleum-based screens are for the birds, really.
Sounds great! Yes, the black felt boarder is a commitment. Once it is installed, you can never move the projector.
I went with Behr dead flat silver screen, worked great, thanks
Awesome! Thanks for sharing the results!
I am blown away! We were just looking at 2x4's to build a frame. Definitely going with this option. Thanks. Two thumbs up!!!
Awesome! I’m happy with it. No regrets, and I would definitely do it again!
Definitely the best projector screen with out Ashley, buying a screen but keeping your wall.
This is an amazing video and how you explain everything very well looks 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video. I've painted a screen onto my wall and now I have to apply the projector tape. Your advice was great. I will probably do the same thing with the corners. Thanks very much.
Sounds great! Congratulations on the new screen!
Thanks for sharing 👍.... I will built one for sure !!!
Wow...This is so helpful brother. I am exactly planing for this. Your video give me a clear idea with lost cost. Thank you very much...again
Awesome! Glad I could help!
Love this video thank you for this information
Glad it was helpful!
One thing I forgot to mention that, your video is so descriptive and easy going.. it helps me to understand the whole things so easily.. btw my projector is AUN-Akey6, 6800 lumens full HD. Going for wall paint this week.
Thanks, I appreciate it. The purpose is to help people out! Let me know how your screen goes!
😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤I’m gonna do that screeeeeen!!! 😊
If I could do it over again, I would do it exactly the same. I still recommend it.
excellent screen tutorial! just got my epson in the mail and am gonna try to find the paint you suggested
Thanks, I appreciate it! It’s been a great set up. I do not think you’ll be disappointed!
Yep I tried the half gallon silver screen, 7oz pewter semi gloss, and 4oz black mix. Wasn't a fan.
Silver screen alone is much better.
Silver screen for rooms with ambient light. Sherwin Williams pro classic matte white extra if you have a dark room
Thanks for sharing this! Very valuable!
thank you for ur sharing. Imma do this for my kids.
Sounds great!
I have seen this paint used And I like the color. What i'm curious about are the differences between this paint and the projector screen paint designed for projection. They say that the projection screen paint design for projection actually has a gain. Could you comment on that difference?
Unfortunately, I don’t have the answers you’re looking for, and I’m not going to pretend like I do. The world of projector screen paint can definitely be overwhelming and confusing.
All I can say is Silver Screen alone has worked out great for me in two different builds, and I have zero regrets or complaints.
It would be great to put the different paint types side-by-side, which is on my list of future video ideas.
Very nice, thanks to share a good idea.
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
Wow fantastic sir
Happy to help!
Can I use led projector
Awesome video!!!
Thanks, I appreciate it! Glad you found it helpful!
Looks great!
Thanks, I appreciate it!
I live in an apartment. Do you have recs for a surface I could paint on, while simultaneously hanging on the wall? I’d rather not drill into the wall either.
I did try one of those fabric screens that you hang on the wall. It was a big sheet of white spandex and it was awful. In case you are looking into that, highly not recommended.
Something like this might work for you.

Or, maybe build a frame with a few 2x4’s and mount a piece of drywall and paint it.
Very well explained. Can I add a little bit(1:4) of Black too to make it darker? In your case it looks more white. My projector is 2800 Lumens.
I have seen other videos where people have added black. Unfortunately, I do not have any personal experience with adding black. I’ve only used silver screen as is, so I cannot make any ratio recommendations.
If you mix up your own paint, let us know how it goes!
Superb video but I can’t find the paint at Home Depot. Can you please send me a link and is the paint color grey or just white?
No problem!

Our Projector is capable of 3D it’s roughly 10 years old or older. We just project on the wall that has a dark paint on it currently. Not for a screen or projector. I wonder if the Bher paint would improve my experience. I’ve been buying up so many 3D Blu Rays lately.
Our is an LCD.
Possibly, but maybe not worth it. The sample size is roughly $3. You could paint it on a scrap piece of something and see how it compares.
if you make the screen way too big for the viewing distance then it looks impressive at first but its actually less watchable because you can only focus on a very small patch of a scene at a time
Hi, Why did you use silver instead of white paint? If you are in a very dark room with a good projector, would mate white paint be better?
That’s what I assumed as well with my first projector. White looks washed out with poor color depth and contrast. Projector screens and paints typically range from gray to black. I have also seen several other people who have used Behr Silver Screen and mixed black paint with it. I recommend researching projector screen paint comparisons. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen videos for white versus black, and silver screen versus black in the past.
PITCH BLACK is great, if you have the lumens and the foot-Lambert, you can obtain super-high CR and close to OLED level blacks. Second best is DARK GRAY. Really dark.
What would you do with an ultra short throw projector? Also use a screen paint?
If it is intended to be a fixed projector with a permanent screen, my preference would be screen paint. It is simple, permanent, and low profile.
I tried a hanging screen in the past and personally didn’t care for it at all.
@@HowtoandReviewsOfficial unfortunately it's an UST that lays on the ground in a veranda, so no walls to paint.
I wonder if I wouldn't take an ALR fabric to Clarck's and mount a screen by myself.
I've just read that UST need CLR3 screens, but that's not available as a fabric.
Can I use sir Led projector on tis screen
I personally do you not see why not. A projector projects light. Light is light. The LED consumes less energy and lasts longer, but it shines light on the wall like every other projector. I definitely recommend doing some research! That is just my initial thought.
What are you projecting from your phone so your phone has to stay charged
The projector is connected to a PlayStation 4 in this video. My projector has HDMI inputs, so it can project anything with an HDMI cable.
Great review is your smooth if yes how do you make it do you need to sand the drywall to make it smooth or is it or if you just paint wall
Hi! I have made two of these. Both times they were on drywall that was already painted, and I just painted a new coat of Silver Screen on top of the existing paint. I did not sand the wall first.
The wall had some standard roughness and was pretty smooth. No major gouges or bumps in the surface.
What projector did you use?
Epson Home Cinema 2100:
amzn.to/3y7TADF
Can you put the name of the paint?
It’s listed in the video description.
Painting a wall won't work well unless the wall is completely flat. Most walls are not, and any unevenness or warp will show up in the projected image.
Thanks for the input. I cannot contribute any personal experience with this. My wall was not sanded smooth as glass or anything, but it is flat, and it has the standard roughness that comes with paint on drywall. No issues at all. Looks great!
I can attest that if the paint color is not uniform then it will definitely stand out in the projected image. I filled a couple holes and sanded them before painting, and the filler definitely stood out and looked awful in the projected image before I painted it.
You need to smooth out drywall or plaster wall to Level 4 or Level 5 smoothness. I sort of doubt you will see "imperfections" during a fast paced movie when you are sitting 8 to 16 feet away.
what's the name of the paint?
It is listed I’d the video description.
1500 lumens projector also work on grey wall paint sir plz msg ok
