Thanks Jennifer. I am in a group the hikes up to the LeConte Lodge in Tennessee every year. It is also a 4,000 foot elevation gain. I found that the walk up makes me tired but the walk down the next morning makes me sore for several days. New Zealand looks beautiful!
Another great video and some more epic views! You rocked that 4000 ft climb in just over 2 hours! Crazy! I see Owen carries the pack...such a gentleman he is 😉. I love your connection to the animals and how you always say "I love you" to all the creatures. So cute.
Tim Tams are amazing. You have to try the Tim Tam experiences! Bite one corner of one end, then the opposite corner off the other end. Then use it as a straw to suck up your coffee or tea. When the warm liquid comes through into your mouth., quickly put the whole thing in your mouth for a wonderful melting extravaganza of chocolate, caramel, and biscuit. It’s the best ever!
Original TimTams are the best, try a TimTam slam......bite both ends off, put one end in coffee or milk and suck through like a straw, then quickly eat before it melts. That's living....
Thank you for another exhausting climb, where I got to see all the beautiful views, but didn't have to share the agony of the arduous climb. I am so grateful having the easy, armchair view, whilst you did the Donkey work. It's almost as good as being there. I'm sitting here watching wearing a short sleeved shirt in the heat of the day, whilst you look as if you're freezing in the biting wind. WELL DONE for another epic video presentation. I also enjoy Tim Tams, but have to admit they are Australian, not New Zealand
Looked like a great hike up Roy’s Peak. Incredible views. You guys powered through it! When we were there in October it was closed for lambing season so didn’t have the option of doing that trail unfortunately. Good to see the Tim Tams come out too! Have you done the Tim Tam Slam before? Yum!
Woop woop congrats on making it to the top! I did it about a week after you - was with two guys who were super fit (they did the AT, and are rock climber) on a whim...we were driving past from camp to get water at 8am one morning and he said, “let’s do Roy’s Peak!”. So, we did....I had no idea how long it was, the elevation gain, anything. I was totally unprepared, so it felt so hard! But so beautiful at the top. And then we walked back down, got our water, drove back out to the climbs (outdoors), and climbed until 9:30pm that night. It was so hectic and I loved it!!
I literally said to myself as your video started that I hadn't seen any of New Zealand's famous and numerous sheep in any of your videos and you made my day with this one. You have been putting together great content in these videos and you are definitely creating a longing for a visit to New Zealand by many I am sure!
Flying in and out of Queenstown is always a good time. The decent between the ranges is spectacular and can and interesting experience depending on what the wind is doing. It is one of my favourite airports to land at, that and a good sideways landing into Wellington
Nother great video Jennifer...I see you really have a way with animals...the way they come runnin...when you love them so....lol...you stay safe burst..."keep on keepin on"...Now I gotta go make a P B & J...!!!
I'm glad you climbed the peak for real and not just the usual instagram photo from the first lookout! Pretty good view from the top, but given more time there are better views from much further up the Matukituki valley (pronunciation - Martookytooky) where it was raining, or the top of Treble Cone skifield. Still, that was a good choice for a view of Lake Wanaka. For the record I don't like Tim Tams!!!! Too sweet for my taste. They need peanut butter or coffee or peppermint flavours. You can have my share. Tim Tams are made in Australia. There is a similar New Zealand chocky bickie called Chit Chats. You really needed to know all that...not! Another entertaining video thanks and I'm glad it didn't rain on you.
@@JenniferMabus 🤣 A honeymoon 3some 🤣. I could have been your sober driver though since I've developed some sort of very inconvenient alcohol intolerance. (A coffee intolerance would be far worse!) Food, coffee and how to spend lots of money guide.
@@JenniferMabus You dip one end in quickly , then the opposite and suck your coffee/ hot chocolate through the biscuit before it disintegrates. It's called the Tim Tam Slam.
1587 metres above sea level at the summit; you might also like Lake Alta above the Remarkables skifield, a short hike from the skifield carpark but spectacular
Beautiful country. Your PCT trail legs must be gone, Hahaha. If you ain't sweatin you ain't hiking, my odd sense of humor. Great job! Already two months past.🥰
You guys tore up that hike -- a ton of elevation gain in just a couple of hours. Toughest hike answer: either (1) climbing up and over a 10,000 foot pass from about 6,000 feet (no switchbacks) over about two hours, or (2) an all-day, 16-mile hike down a canyon in 90-degree weather, capped by a nearly straight-up climb up the canyon wall to the campsite. Both were in the Sangre de Cristos in NM and both were under about a 40-pound pack. Or, maybe Mt. Washington, up the Boot Spur trail, not Tuckerman.
Hi Starburst! I've been watching your videos for some time now and have been interested in hiking since I was little. I dayhike regularly, have gone to a nature camp for the past four years, and have done multiple long weekend backpacking trips and plan on doing a 7-10 day yo-yo hike of the Monadnock Sunapee Greenway Trail this spring. I'm telling you all this because I'm planning on hiking the PCT this summer. Would you suggest thru-hiking the PCT to someone like me, or advise against it? Thanks for the great content :)
Hi David! I personally think you could thru-hike if you can backpack that trail. I don't know you of course so I can't say for sure but if YOU think you can do it then you completely can!!
That was quite the climb to Roy's Peak Jen, but once there the views were certainly worth the effort - if one is able. So pleased the rain stayed away too. Here's a pilots view coming into Queenstown - ua-cam.com/video/OlJksNrOuB4/v-deo.html Look forward to your time there.. Take care.
I highly recommend a "tim-tam slam". What you do is you get your tim-tams and a cup of either hot coffee or hot chocolate. Bite off both ends of the tim-tam and use it as a straw for the drink. The hot drink turns the inside of the tim-tam to mush but it's so delicious!
Shame you didn't get up there for sunrise! Magic watching the mountains light up. Been following your journey through my homecountry! Glad you enjoyed yourself!

hi, what a nice video you have. and can you please tell me exact name of the location you said providing free shower and wifi? thanks.
Wow!
So beautiful, huh?
Thank you for taking us back up into the mountains.
Your love/hate relationship with the animals is really curious.

The sirens are a call out to the volunteer firefighters to come to the station.
Now we know that! But we didn't at the time and it was a little spooky.
Those Epic views
Very epic!
Stunning views indeed, bravo for disregarding those sore calves! (?I only saw lambs?) (dad joke alert).😇
HAHAHAH ohhhh that is good.
That's verrry generous of you! Next time I'll try a bit harder. 🤔🧐🌮🗼🏝️🥇
I saw a few calves....Im hoping the sireens werent for the barn that silenced the lambs....Ill have to ask....Clarice..(smile) Chow....
I like that hike, very pretty. If you lived nearby it would make a good preconditioning hike for the PCT.
Oh ya, definitely!! Doing that several times a week would be wonderful haha
Every time I watch your hiking videos I make a pb&j 😂
My work here is done.
Banana crepe with cream, yummy, thanks for another great vid.
Thanks for watching, Kevin!
I was waiting to see if you did the coffee trick with the Tim Tams!
Dipping then in coffee? Or letting them melt in there?
Do a search on youtube for “Tim Tam straw” you’ll see what I mean.
Oh yeh you need to try this! And show us on your next vid :) SO good.

You two must have slept well that night!
Or suffered muscle cramps all night! Hope not.
Hahah both lolololol
Didn't Lake Wanaka remind you of Lake Chelan? Both formed as the result of Pleistocene glacial activity.
Now that you brought it up they are very similar! Both gorgeous.
