    I'm a mechanic, I have the Gen 2 impact and drill, the drill doesn't see much use from me, but the impact is one of my favorite tools to use at work. I can see that tri LED being a huge upgrade for me when I'm working in darker areas

    As I stated in response to another, Milwaukee is like Apple. They walked so everyone else can run. So even though other brands have caught up or exceeded them in performance, all Milwaukee needs to do is make sure the quality remains while only making incremental improvements. Too many Pros are invested in the M18 trade specific platform to switch to Flex or whoever else for just a single impact or drill, and Milwaukee knows this. Torque Test’s number one rated impact is the Kobalt XTR. Couple that with its friendly price, and someone just starting in the trades might be inclined to give them a try since Milwaukee continues to keep prices high like Apple does. And Den’s video showing the Hercules battery pack uses the same exact cells as the Milwaukee HO for half the price might get folks wondering if they are being had. DeWalt better watch out too with their battery pricing nonsense.

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  2 роки тому +8

      All good points. While I think their are benefits to a single platform approach to your tool lineup I also think it impedes you from getting the best tool for you in each category. Both Milwaukee have class leaders in various categories but they don’t win in every category.

      @@TinkerWithTools I agree completely. No company is the best, which is why Milwaukee Vs. DeWalt Vs. Flex arguments are pointless. I love Milwaukee, andthe quality of their tools, but for ie when it comes to impact wrenches i think DeWalt is killing it right now. I only own the DCF923B compact and it's a monster for it's size/weight, better than the M12 and close in size. I got a deal on the Gen2 Milwaukee Mid Torque and i use to own the 2767 Hi Torque, and i love the size and weight of the Gen 2 but the new Dewalt mid torque has TONS of power and the new hi torque is a lot more powerful than the 2767. I like the powerstack, and am pumped for the 5ah one that i'm hoping will be released soon. Quality on their impacts seem great as well, though i will say i have had a few DeWalt tools that felt cheaply made considering the price (DCG416B grinder for ie). My Kobalt grinder has much less cheaply made disc/wheel guards, a better paddle switch and a nicer handle, and it performs great at half the $, that is why i own 7 kobalt tools. Quality and performance for a fair price. I also own the Flex Stacked Lithium Rear Handle Saw Kit and the Flex Stacked Lithium Hammer Drill Kit and the quality is great, their hammer drill is the most powerful drill you can buy right now and it's not even that close, the saw as well. I also like the fact they have 3 different sizes of Stacked Lithium already. I own Makita 18V 5.0ah Batteries, but no tools for em atm lol. But yeah my point is the same lol. that it can be good to own multiple brands batteries. And you don't need 20 batteries each like some people will say. With 3-4 batteries (sometimes less) and 1, maybe 2 decent chargers, you should be fine. And wait for deals from all the big brands. Milwaukee has killer sales all the time on HD's website. Flex just had a good sale. Check out HD's specials of the day everyday and the pro special buy of the week. You'll find deals that are close to or more than 50% Off.

      @@milwookie8558 I agree with you as well. There is likely a cost savings just being on a single brand and that certainly has a benefit but if you truly want the best lineup of tools you are probably looking at a minimum of two brands if not a few others.

    This is exactly what I said prior to your video. The M12 drill is the only one in my opinion that I really want to get. The change to the mechanical clutch is huge for me on a compact drill since it naturally does lighter duty. And the smaller size is great. I’m curious to see how light the clutch is on its lowest setting as well. If/when they change the M12 Surge to a tri light; that will also be a definite upgrade as well. Since I use the M12 surge on more delicate, indoor uses where there’s little to no light. My M18 get used mostly outside when I’m building. The tri light is mostly unnecessary. And the new M18 drill is a definite do not need. If I’m going to be drilling something that could tweak my hand I just grab an impact or add the handle.

    Milwaukee Fuel are great tools, but as good as they are, I'm a bit put off with their endless forthcoming generations that show very little or no performance improvements. In fact my gen 2 M12 hex impact seems to outperform the gen 3. Milwaukee can infinitely keep progressively going up the gen ladder in luring those that keep upgrading their tools to no advantage at all. Don't get me wrong. Milwaukees are good tools, but they seem to position themselves in their endless generations that adds incrementing value in price, but not in performance as expected.
