Hi Brent - re: The Visarch turning his back on the Dire Avenger Shrine as an exarch, that is part of why his lore is so significant. He is the first (known) exarch to be able to turn their back on their shrine in pursuit of something else - I think it is meant to speak to how his dedication is to her (Yvraine) and their cult. Just my thoughts - keep up the great work. love the videos.
I agree about what you said re: Exarchs, and 100% support the reimagining of Dire Avengers into real all-rounders; Power swords and all versions of Shuriken weapons as options. Maybe even a mounted option.
I think I like the idea of an Eldar being able to leave the Path of the Warrior as an Exarch even if it is rare. I feel like it just opens up more possibilities for story telling, like with the Visarch.
Found the Triumphant at a store on vacation, it cemented making an Ynnari/Eldar army. I had been going back and forth on which new army to start. I think the elves have everything I have been looking for.
One point of note is that we have seen specifically Yvraine with the Storm Guardians for back point objective holding since with the 5+ invuln and res they're hard to remove and dropping infantry via deepstrike in front of Yvraine is basically suicide. At worst they come in later as a cleanup crew, at best they ensure you never lose backfield and can more aggressively position your poncy space elves without fear. Not saying it's turbo meta, but it has been SEEN in well performing lists super recently so it's not super bad.
The two of them on foot with 11 Clowns is faily potent. They can sit on an objective with enough bodies to control which angles the oponent can charge in from.
Great Video. Loving harlequins right now and this hit the spot haha. The yvraine brick in a wave serpent is highly underrated in the right list I hear. There's an MSU list out of Europe that just placed very high. The gameplan was to just stage the serpent and other units turn 1 and crash the entire army and yvraine on turn 2. The whole goal being that your opponent will have to dedicate too many resources to removing the yvraine brick allowing the rest of your army to mop up on turn 3. The MSU lists just have sooo many activations! Haven't tried it yet but sounds like a fun change of pace!
This is exactly the video I wanted, I just got a new Ynnari army and I'm super excited to play it. Yvraine and the Visarch are such cool characters. I would love to see what your thoughts are on which Drukhari units I should be running in a Ynnari army too. I love Infantry heavy armies but I get a feeling I want to run a healthy assortment of vehicles too for this army. Anyway, love the content, keep going strong, brother.
Your video arrives perfectly on time. In my last tournament, I felt unsatisfied with my block of 10 wraithblades with spiritseer because of the lack of fight first ability, which allowed powerful melee units of my opponents to smash them. So I had just noticed that the big block of harlequins with Yvraine and Visarch is 50 points less expensive, and I was wondering about trying it. You just convinced me to have a try in my next tournament in 2 weeks.
Hey Brent! I was tinkering with my list after I watched your video, and instead of putting the visarch in a falcon with 5 harlequins, I thought about adding the shadowseer and one extra harlequin. Since the shadowseer gives the unit stealth and a re-roll on the advance with the ability to then charge. Even using the unit as a backline screening unit for the first two or three turns then having the ability to get that 14" move plus the charge. Would love to hear your thoughts ajd any other space elf fans! Love the video like always and always look forward to the insight you give in these videos!
Ive been playing ynnari since the nerf to them in 8th where they had to kill something tk gain fight first and ynnari hasnt been mentioned a whole lot in 8th or 9th so im edcited to finally see some list foing to GTs winning and then getting videos like this. Im hopijg for a pitential battleforce for them maybe named "the reborn" or a specific detachment or even a codex like emp children sknce ynnari have their kwn keyword
Love has nothing to do with exarchs or titles, asurani follow the kung fu tradition of learning a form, in this case a 'path', forgetting the form to make it their own, then learning a new form. A great example was a retired forge world unit called Bel-Anah, who followed a couple aspects paths before following the path of the seer and becoming a farseer. He had a melta profile for his broken staff. It was a good way to bring into light his past as a fire dragon.
Is the end of this video a teaser that we maybe getting a Solitaire Unit Focus video? I'm a little curious about Solitaire's due to how Fights First works, as what I can see it's a character killer, but if that character also has fights first you will be turned into paste before getting an opportunity to attack if you charge.. and that is surely the point of the blitz is to hit them like a cannonball, charging in an just blending a character, maybe dying in the progress but as long as that character died it did it's job.. Also not heard if when using Blitz can you also advance? Making it move pretty much anywhere on the board in 1 turn. So many questions..
I really want to run a "Bad Elves" list with Yvraine, Visarch, and ten clowns at the centre of it. Can't get my handles on the fashion-forward death priestess though 😬
Hey Brent and fellow pointy ears! Thinking of having the Visarch and 5 Harlies following a falcon so when the dragons jump out first turn in the midfield, Visarch and the Harlies (sounds like a 60’s band!) jump in and then jump out 2nd turn to get the wounds reroll and can then charge. Hopefully, the dragons can then jump BACK info the falcon and then then zoom off to a different location on the table to repeat. Does that sound feasible? Let me know what u think. Thx!
Yeah, not a bad plan! I find stuff like that only works in games I was going to win anyway, but on the otherhand you will probably still get good value out of the units even if the combo doesn't quite work
What i didn´t hear, maybe it isn´t played wihtin tournaments, is, that a warlock can be added to the visarch, when he is leading guardian defenders or storm guardians, which might further enhance his abilities
My problem with Ynarri is needing to have the clowns now. I bought the character set in 7th when they came out. I ran ynarri as craftworlds, corsairs, and drukari. I'm not a fan of the harlequin models so I haven't got any.
I don't understand why one would forgo Neuro Disruptors. Given such a unit usually wants to fight medium to heavy infantry, surely the ability to wound on 2 instead of 4 or 5 is worth more than 1AP?
I'm guessing that the ynnari rules will exist as they are now for 10th and in the codex, afterwards is anyone's guess. Personally hope the restrictions are kept as they are as I love using all flavours of space elf in one army.
Question:Newbie Player. Week 3 with my Crusade Pariah Nexus campaign. I already have the wave serpent in my crusade force to potentially move Battle Line unit. I have 400 pts to spend. I will get an additional 200 pts next week. I am thinking of getting 10 clowns and Yvraine in the Wave Serpent to roll out on a flank. Ideally early turn 3. I have the Avatar as bully unit. One of the armies I am set to fight in our round robin campaign is a Death Guard force. I am told he has max units Blightlord Terminators, Plague Marines, lots of Torrent Melta Anti-infantry weapons. High defense with good Feel No Pain. I don't plan melee unless I can wear down a unit with my SMU x2 units of shadow spectres. Any good counter units you might suggest I invest in?
@@craigbrunotte remember that your opponent can only overwatch with one unit per turn and that they can't overwatch when engaged. Lastly, the Avatar will mess those plague Marines up- don't forget that you can use a fate dice to auto trigger sustained hits on his shooting attack not only on your turn but also with overwatch on your opponent's turn
@WBConcilio I have been overwatching with the Avatar like crazy. I try keeping my Farseer in cover, and within 12" to give him Fortune and Branching Fates 1/turn. He's a beast. What sucks for me is all our ruins are not opaque on the 1st floor, so I had to buy the Phoenix gem to give him staying power. Worth throwing Guide on the clowns/Yvraine or save for Shadow Spectres (or SMU Skyweaver if he buys vehicles)?
@WBConcilio I try to hide him as best I can. We had to make most of our terrain. Ruins are "L" shaped foam boards with no windows cut out. Not knowing GT rules, we agreed that being inside ruins offered cover, but unless blocked by two walls (i.e., a corner or completely on the other side of the ruin), units still had line of sight. I will be advocating that we modify our terrain rules to align with GT terrain rules.
@@craigbrunotte if line of sight is not completely blocked by ruins a unit is not actually in, the game becomes an auto-win for one side depending on first turn and who has better shooting. I have an idea and I'm not sure if it's good... Maybe the visarch can go in Corsair voidreavers? The give him reroll 1s to hit or full rerolls if they're on an objective, and if they go in a wave serpent they get scout 7''! Might be better in a falcon though, i kinda wanna try this out Edit: damn they also have grenades
Ok, this video is making me seriously consider Ynnari as an option (and as an excuse to collect both Eldar, Harlequin, and drukhari and eventually have enough to field a full 2kpts list of each)
