Love this pod of Commanders and their Pilots. Really interesting to see a balance in two creature/Aggro decks with two combo/ad naus decks.
For me The Spike Feeders are the only crew which rocks as hard as LRRMTG.
And then you guys release multiple videos with Wheeler and Serge as guests.
Next highlight would be a few Spike Feeders in the LRRMTG studio playing Canlander.
Shouldn't Eliot's Fierce Guardianship have countered Crim's Deflecting Swat which would've killed his Winota??
No I think the deflecting swat resolved, redirecting the pyrokenesis. Then the pyrokenesis was countered and not the swat
@@paoloreitz1169 Ya, an odd piece of tech that people are confidently backseating how they assume the spell works. For a target to be chosen deflecting swat HAS to resolve, therefore it can't be countered, only the thing that can be countered is the spell deflecting swat is using. Also you're not supposed to be able to change your mind and 'curve' the swat's target when you announce any target for the first time but it's a friendly game so it's whatever.
In short: You don't have to announce to the table what swat is targeting until after it's resolved, so don't. That way the only way to stop it is to counter the thing targeting your stuff, making swat into 'just' a free counterspell that also removes a counterspell from an opponent.
@@MrDeadDivision you do have to announce the spell swat targets, but you don't have to say what you are changing the targets of the spell to. But yeah

swat resolves reselecting the target for pyro but there’s another round of priority with pyro on the stack afterwards which is when eliot countered pyro

The damage dealing spell. You choose the new targets from deflecting swat upon resolution rather than on cast.

Basically (though I think Crim was banking on Wheeler having interaction for the combo).
Crim could've brought him to 2 life, where losing the Mana Crypt flip at upkeep would've killed him.

nope, trinisphere checks basically after all other cost in-/decrease effects and then puts it to 3 if below
Trinisphere comes in last in the order of cost-modifying effects. If after discounts and taxes are applied the spell still costs less than 3, Trinisphere makes it cost 3.
Sol Ring costs 1, plus 1 from Thalia for 2. 2 is less than 3 so Trinisphere makes it cost 3.

Deflecting Swat resolved to change the targets of Pyrokinesis, then Pyro was countered
Deflecting Swat wasn't countered, the burn spell was. Because you don't get to know what they're changing the target to (only which spell they're targeting), so Eliot waited to see if it would hit one of his creatures, then counter the burn spell.
Deflecting Swat resolved. The only spell on the stack that could have been countered at that point was the damaging spell. Deflecting Swat’s target is the spell, not the targets of the spell that you’re changing. This means that when you cast Swat, you only have to declare the spell that you’re targeting and the new targets of that spell are declared upon resolution.
Elliot waited to see the new target before countering the burn spell.
Also I could be wrong but technically Crim could have chosen both targets since Tymna only has 2 toughness.

I'm very confused. The Pyrokenisis targeting Winota was deflecting swat to trymna, but was countered by Elliot... So Winota should have died... Was this just a misplay, or am I missing something?

The Pyrokinesis was countered, not the Deflecting Swat. In fact the Deflecting Swat had already resolved as the new targets are only chosen when Deflecting Swat resolves.
You can hear Elliot say "Deflecting Swat is good" at one point, so he already let it resolve.

Conscript should have grabbed Godo. A full extra combat with Winota would have been solid.

It was already during combat, so I don't think godo would have had time to attack and get an extra combat
Wouldn't have worked, unfortunately. Same deal as with Drana & Linvala, since the Conscripts entered attacking, Godo wouldn't have been able to be declared as an attacker, so you wouldn't get the extra combat.

@@matteobagni1235it's not playing nice. You don't get to know the new target for the swat'd spell until you're past the point of responding to it. So he had to counter the burn spell once he knew it was being sent his way.

Because if Crim made the Pyro target someone else's creature, Eliot didn't want to counter it. And once you know the new target, Swat has already resolved and can't be countered (you know what spell it's targeting, but not what the new targets of THAT spell will be).

"You may choose new targets for target spell or ability." The target of Deflecting Swat is the spell or ability to be changed. The modified targeting for that spell or ability isn't a target for Swat and thus is just part of the effect and only declared on resolution @@rosun_official

I thought it was always that Instant and Sorcery targets are declared when the spell is cast, and are checked again when the spell resolves to ensure they are still legal targets. -- this is still true but i understand that the target of Def Swat would be the spell its steering, not that other spell's targets. @@davidkahalewai1530
