Great video again 👏👏 as they say never to old to learn 🙄 never thought of using a jubilee clip for the bottom ring 😮👍 i did an "economy" rebuild on a BD144 when times were hard and it ran about 10 years using a little bit of oil before i did the full engine rebuild 👍 only ever rebuilt international engines which have wires securing the big ends was interested to see the Perkins with fold over locks which look to make life so much easier 👍
The 4.270 could have come from anywhere and it's been in the combine for a very long time, if you look at my 20 part series on the perkins4.270 conversion in the fordson N it came out of a class standard materdore
@FenlandCrusader rite ok 👍 very good. The Giant Matador had 6.354 perkins. Beast of a combine in its day. The same engine went in loads of things including the MF500 combine and 1200 tractor. The smaller 400 combine had a 4.300 engine which is said to be very awkward to use in anything else. Interesting stuff pal. You channel is definitely my kind of thing.
@FenlandCrusader i noticed your N in the background had a chunky starter motor. Its a tidy looking tractor. I visited a chap with a Gleaner on the Isle of Wight last year. He had put a perkins 6.305 of a Super A Gleaner in a model N because he was fed up of the starting handle. Im sure the 4.270 was fitted in the Ransomes crusader combines. A chap who takes combines to little Ellingham show has a matador standard with a blue engine out of a crusader.

Why not put the clamp over the bottom ring then move it up to clamp the others once it's in🤷♂️
It buts the bottom ring before the first lot go in
Looking back what I should've done is to trap the other clamp underneath the best one so it coverd all the rings
Dad had a 780 (not special) with 6 cyl Austin Newage engine. Spent hours sitting on the tool box or bagging off on a 2 wheel trailer with grandad.
