Very nice video, short and informative. I've been thinking of getting my first ever snake, and an african house snake is high on my list for possible species. Do you think that it's a good species to start with, or would you advise some other one?
If I keep my house around 20-25°C should I offer heat through a heat mat I'm thinking about getting my first house snake. I've kept corns and milk snakes.
That should be fine. That's how I keep the babies. They tend to grow faster with a heat pad under one side, but it is not strictly necessary. I would say try it like that and observe them. If they don't eat well or feel cold to the touch when you take them out, add a heat pad.
@@JaydLawrence okay thanks! I already have a baby corn and a baby garter snake, but these guys were on my list from the beggining. In Hungary, they are going for about 10 USA dollars sooo really cheap too. One more quick question; are they picky eaters? I’ve heard that the little babies are picky…
I use 28qt tubs for the adult males. Anything a bit bigger is good for adult females. For the babies, it is pretty flexible. I use whatever tubs I can find that lock shut.

Yes. They are pretty easy going and forgiving. I think they would be good as a first snake.
Excellent video!
Thank you. 😁

Do they do well in glass terrariums?
Yes, but make sure you figure out how to stop them from getting out.

They can be picky as babies, but similar to a corn snake.
Once they get going they are solid and are known to eat almost anything.
@@JaydLawrence Okay, thank you soo soo much!
What tub size do you use for house snakes

Good info but you gotta show them while talking.
Thanks for the advice.
