My first run was kinda a nightmare (thematically accurate, but not the point.) What makes the first fight so bad for me, is the general combat delay of FF14, meaning the subjects kept grabbing me when I was fairly far away from them. T_T
@@grimneeldrakia7173 yeah the snapshotting is insane, and very ping dependent. i tried it once on an ethernet connection and once on wi-fi and it was like 2 different fights
Yeah, this is the first dungeon EVER that I've felt compelled to look up a guide for. Every time I think i should be safe, I get rooted. Every time i feel like i move incorrectly and Should be grabbed i actually don't. Looks like the guide does not help at all :( not Happy's fault tho.
Wow! A dungeon guide from Happs again! This is nostalgic! I feel like we have not gotten a dungeon guide from you forever! I loved this dungeon a lot. That first boss has been something every single time.
Fuck that first boss man, its so insane how you have to dodge all the bosses mechanics AND the minions who have insane grab range and just disable your everything for 10 seconds
I think the cups could benefit from a tell like steam rising from the possessed cups. My first run was a guaranteed vuln stack unless I got lucky with placement
I know how that mechanic works and I still can't do it because I just can't track the tea cups for the life of me. I just let everyone else in the group do it and pray they got it right when I run to them. lol
thanks for this!! i loved going in blind and we had some much needed spooky fun but some mechs are tricky indeed so a refreshes definitely helps. Probably one of the best expert roulettes to start with, i hope they keep the fresh takes on known mechanics moving on!
you don't need to be a ghost for the line stack. in fact, the ghost debuff says it makes you take more damage from some attacks. as a rule of thumb on the third boss, i'm only a ghost for mechanics that necessitate it, otherwise i go right back to living form.
I think the biggest difference here is that the bosses are setting the pace of the fight more than we are used too. Reminds me of some Elden Ring bosses where you cant just big dick disrespect them. You have to focus on survival first over dps. I would love to see more of this, as it makes it harder to meta game the fight for parsing (as easily). You HAVE to account for more random variables, or needing to disengage entirely and focus on a mechanic since its not super clear.
yeah i'm just... not going to ever do this dungeon unless they patch the first boss. If you're a healer it's literally insufferable and i'd rather do anything else but sit there and watch my party die
My group did this a couple times today and we're pretty sure the area the little guys in the first boss can grab you in is a cone. Sometimes it seems like you're not even near them, but we paid attention and it seems that you can be close behind them without getting caught, yet not that close to them in front and get caught. So it may be better to navigate behind them as much as possible. I also wish the little running mobs were a bit differently colored or something as sometimes I've thought I was in danger but it was just another party member on the field (and I do have names turned on, it's not as helpful at a fast glance trying to react as quickly as possible). As a healer main, the dolls in the last w2w are really wild. I both like it because it asks me to actually do work yet kinda hate it because the continuous slamming sound is kinda freaky, haha. I really like the third boss, though. Busy but feels good and rewarding to execute well.
I should mention that the teapot movement is exactly the movement on one of those scrambler rides at amusement parks, if you can track the movement of that, you should be fine with that mechanic.
appreciate the guides. A lot of these mechanics in XIV dungeons are not painfully obvious to me even after doing the instance a few times. it sucks dying over and over and not knowing what you could've done different😅. frustrating actually
I was trying to see if I could just count the boss's spins and work out where the teacups go but the boss always does two 360 spins in different directions
for the first boss, if every players stands in clock positions and avoid the little adds clockwise, wouldnt that make it easier to deal with ? if it's based on player position.
I just cannot track the cups when two get possessed at the same time. Is it true that when the ghosts possess the cups, they are either 90 or 180 degrees apart so you can then follow one of the cups and apply that distance when they stop? There's no way they expect you to track two separate cups right?
Take note of both cups locations and designate a safe spot for one of the cups with consideration of the other. Example: cups start N and S, so you know E or W is safe. Follow the S cup and where it stops becomes relative S so go E or W of it. Similarly: cups start N and W, so follow either one and just remember that to the left of the N cup is safe and the right of the W cup is safe. I’m not sure if they always start 90 or 180 degrees from each other, just designate a safe spot for one of the cups with consideration of the other and follow that one.
interesting people are having trouble for the first boss than the second boss tracking the teapot location is VERY HARD if you are are melee dps especially i'm using viper keep tracking my rotations while looking at the teapot spinning hurts my brain so much XD
Im really surprised the trust system cant be used on 2 out of the 3 level 100 dungeons, not mad just confused, with the exception of some from ARR i thought they were allowing use of trusts in all dungeons from now on. Again just confused not upset.
The First boss is not a snapshotting or hitbox issue, they leap at you if you are in front of them so the range is bigger than from the back of side. They never turn until they get to the very end, so as long as you dont walk in front of them when they are 3 steps away you're good.
First boss minions hitboxes are such bs lol, 2nd boss teacups I'll just accept the vul, and head banging barbie dolls lol. Struggle for me qs healer but its really fun. I hope for more challenging content.
As a melee DPS, I dont like the idea being forced to spin my camera to track spinning teacups while fighting the boss so that I dont die. This is a poorly designed janky mechanic.
I queued up as a healer and got 3 first timers... needless to say, we never got past the first boss. I can't believe they designed something like that. I would much rather have something like the first boss in troia over this ANY day. Honestly it kills the experience for this dungeon for me
Thanks Mr Happy! The teacups still confuse me but this helped a lot. I was looking for a specific marker on the cups, not trying to manually follow them 😵💫😵💫🫨

So today I learned that MrHappy doesn't know the difference between a teapot and a teacup.
This entire dungeon is giving me Alice: Madness Returns vibes
Pro tip: The big stray dolls can be stunned for some breathing room
that first boss is a pain on melee, but the other 2 are actually pretty fun for an expert dungeon.
I actually found it EASIER on melee than on caster. 😰
BLM left the chat...
@Shizukanexen well yeah, melees don't have cast bars

in England we call them 'spinning teacups'. The rides are literally giant teacups you sit in and turn a wheel to spin them.
Its a neat arrangement, but I miss that bangin keyboard segment in the original version of Jesters of the Moon.
The first boss alone makes this my least favorite dungeon this expansion thus far
I symapthize, though I also want to get good enough to disrespect it 😂

The fucking grab snapshot is so weird

I literally can't track those teapots and play the game at the same time. I don't understand why they didn't color the dangerous ones differently.
Teacups, rather.
Would be too easy if they use color. This is expert roulette
I just accepted that I am gonna eat a vuln stack on that mechanic as a melee.
This mechanic and rubicante moving platforms shit, my brain can never process those

This looks impossible to beat for us old people!!!!
The spinning teacups is actually a bit annoying for tanks, it's just a bit tricky to keep track of the ghosts.
Ghostduster and Livingbuster are great references
for the first boss, if every players stands in clock positions and avoid the little adds clockwise, wouldnt that make it easier to deal with ? if it's based on player position.
Possibly! Unfortunately, three other randoms are harder to coordinate, so more often than not it'll be a free for all.
