In today's video I discuss how to optimize a homepage for local SEO by focusing on brand rather than mixing up the content with sections like "About Us" or "Meet the Team," which should be on separate pages. It outlines the structure of an effective homepage that conveys the right information to potential customers.
3 tips from video:
Ensure your homepage is branded by using your brand name in the title tag and H1 heading to avoid competing with internal service pages for SEO rankings.
Use H2, H3, and H4 headings to break down who the business is, why to hire them, what services they offer, and other relevant information without repeating service-specific keywords used on other pages.
Keep the homepage focused on guiding visitors to the appropriate parts of the site (e.g., services, about us, contact) through a well-structured layout, including a hero image with an H1 title and a form, followed by descriptive headers and paragraphs.

Hi Chris, I hope all is well. I really appreciate the knowledge you shared in today's video. I have a question, however, regarding another topic. Let's say that I am optimizing a website for a roofing contractor in Pennsylvania. Generally speaking, should the URL for roof replacement top-level service page be /roof-replacement or /roof-replacement-pennsylvania? Assuming that I would then build out pages on the next level for roof replacement in various cities in Pennsylvania in which the roofing contractor operates.

I shouldn't make my homepage H1 "Best Tile & Remodel Company in Location"
It should just be the brand name as the primary keyword?
If you use yoast would the brand name be the focus keyword to target?

Why we are not going to place Secondary Keywords in Sub-headers to optimize for topical coverage and semantic network? Should we do it or keep it simple as shown in video?
If we mention renovation as our niche and shouldn't we include secondary terms like kitchen renovation, bathroom renovation etc....as subheaders?

I need to target car detailing and mobile detailing with geopages, how is "mobile car detailing (city)" for keyword?, can i hit a double wammy? i think making two pages for this will lead to duplicate content. P.S car detailing is more important.

My competitors are ranking their homepages over my internal page for the same location. Should I use my homepage too for that location instead of the internal page? I tried for years to outrank them and it's impossible.
how long has the home page been there? how many referring ? how many inner links to that page??? Also do you have multiple services and locations to service? Your the webmaster brother. But its not the page its all the other factors.
@@chris-palmer it has 10 years, I am older, it's a high completion keyword. I just redirected all the links from the internal page to the homepage and also optimized the H1 and so on. Hope this will work, let's pray 🙏

Are they ranking for their brand name? Do people search using your competitor brand name.
