Your work looks really nice, I don't understand why so much is done with ready-mixed concrete and stamps in the USA. Your work with concrete blocks and concrete paving looks much better. Greetings from Upper Bavaria
Thank you very much. Poured concrete is much cheaper, so builders / home owners with a smaller budget tend to go with that option. Which is completely fine, totally different market. It is also why I am very thankful to my customers for investing into their property with me. Quality is key, and when you are consistently producing quality work it starts to build you a good reputation.
Thanks for the feedback, the more I looked at it I was like (kind of different in cool way...) I still love to have joints dead center, just tough when the manufacturer puts you in that position. ✌
At the foundation we still have the 1/8 lean back but we push the blocks as forward as we can to touch the wall. Just takes playing with the blocks a little as you go ✌
Ya my MT 100 sucks, I can only lift almost half pallets of sod, or like 30 blocks or so at a time. It sucks. But comes in handy since all the houses are so close. But my next machine to the list will be a full skid to move whole pallets.
Yea, that can be a pain but the MT 100 certainly is excellent in tight conditions. I have used one of those and many other manufacturer mini skids and I am not knocking them at all. But for me, I have mostly open / accessible job sites, so having the skid steer was the best move for me. And if I come across a tight access project, renting a mini skid is cheaper than renting a regular skid. So that was why I decided to go with a regular skid for my 1st machine. But hey, those mini skids are still great to have around, can't go wrong with having one in the fleet ✌
Do you not have to follow the 2 to 1 rule for height to setback? Here in Washington state if you don’t follow that rule it’s considered a loaded wall and has to be engineered. I think almost everywhere has the 4 foot rule, you would think if it was for safety and stability it would be nationwide.
We sure do have to follow the 2 to 1 rule. I'll be showing in the next video that we did that, very good point. The bottom wall was about 3' 9" high at the lowest point and the grade elevated quickly... The top wall was just shy of 2' 6". With 5' between the walls, I stay within that rule which is (the distance in between the walls needs to be a minimum of twice the height of the wall on top.). And yea, the 4' rule is pretty standard throughout the country I hear. Thanks for the comment ✌

I’m still working on my little 20x18 (or so 😉) patio for the Mrs. I butchered the corners (amateur), and I’m no doubt doing things I’ll regret but… I’m sure it’s a project I’ll be modifying and changing for a couple of years to come! Keep em comin!! I really enjoyed reliving those 90+ degree July days on a day that we hit, I think 18 degrees not factoring the wind chill. 😁👊🏻

If each course is keyed together and you’re using Geogrid then vertical joints only overlapping by a third isn’t an issue structurally. It just look horrible!
I hear you, the problem is that they make the corners 16" wide x 10" deep instead of 8" deep. A full block is 16", so a 16"x8" corner would keep the joint line dead center and solve all the issues. I don't get why they don't make them... But yea, no issues structurally for sure ✌
Thanks, nothing makes a wall look worse than an ugly drainage pipe coming through it. They just are not necessary in most situations. And yes, I spend a lot of money every year on 3/4 stone...LOL 🤑 ✌

I think the joints not being centered looks fine. It's just different, but I still think it looks good.

It’s a new style with tile also to stagger them 1/3 instead of 1/2. It looks good I think.

It is a vertical wall that has a slight lean back, so that it is not straight up and down.

That is for dang sure! LOL. Plus the more you use them, the less grippy and strong they get. A fresh string holds onto stakes real nice.👌✌
