Kyle, I’ve been watching your UA-cam videos for a while now. Your work looks great and you’ve been teaching me a lot by just watching your videos! I plan on taking the skills that I learned and putting them to work this summer! I had a question if you don’t mind me asking, how much money in material did it cost to do just that retaining wall?
Awesome, thank you! I'm glad the videos have been helpful for you. So just the walls alone, it costed about $6,000 for the block, cap, fabric, geogrid, glue, stone, dirt, etc...
Beautiful work, brother. Is that a Techo Bloc paver used for the walk? Blu 60? Also, what is the reasoning behind the two to one rule? Just more structurally sound? Thanks! John
Thanks John! Those are Blu 60 pavers. The 2 to 1 rule makes sure the lower wall is not holding the pressure of the top wall. It also accounts for some room if the top wall were to ever fail and collapse. Having that much room will catch the fall. ✌
I did have a (BL-980) clamp which is great for large slabs but honestly, using the bucket and thumb is way quicker if you can access it like I was able too. Especially on the odd shaped steps in this bundle because the clamp can be tricky to set up in a place where it wont slip. And sometimes when you find a place it holds, it is unbalanced and does not lift correctly... So I just use the thumb and bucket whenever I can. ✌
im about to do this at my house very good video !! designs on my channel i ran it by my friend who is also my boss and he said buddy this is a 50,000 project i said oh dayum i though 15,000 he said hell help me anyways lol but hes prolly right !!! ima get him a good chunk of money tho reguardless thats my bro !!
I hear you and wish I could but it is not worth risking my equipment or the customers property. He is 16 and here in Massachusetts, you could really screw yourself as a business owner if something goes wrong. The day he turns 18 and can legally use them, he will be in them without a doubt ✌
I really love that trailer. I bought it in 2021 and have really worked it hard. No complaints at all. I don't have much experience with other dump trailers but I will stick by their trailers for sure.... Looking forward to the day I can buy a tilt deck equipment trailer, they have a few really nice models available.
@@bigredoutdoorservices I hear you, the regular steel dump trailers just seem to rust very quickly. I went back and forth on a few when I was in the market for it, decided to pull the trigger on spending the extra $5,000 for this one because everything is galvanized other than the pump box and tarp cover which are aluminum. Should have this baby for many years to come.
Awesome finished product! With the size or unevenness of the steps, is that why you didn't use that gripper thing you've used before that clamps as you lift up the boom? Or was that on the skid... For the padding, you should try and asking around equestrian places for stall mats that they may be getting rid of or just go buy some. They'll last you a long time with an initial expense up front.
Thank you! And yes, it can be difficult to use that clamp with how uneven they are. But sometimes we have to use it depending on the access. Fortunately we were able to set them all with just the bucket and thumb on this one which is way quicker... I will have to look into the stall mats, not a bad idea at all. ✌
Another great video boys steps look awesome. It’s amazing how mud can be more dangerous than ice sometimes on the job sites I’ve had a few close calls in the mud lol can be dangerous when we’re playing around heavy equipment that isn’t forgiving on the body.
Thanks brother, that mud can really get you if you’re not careful for sure… it is always the simple things that will get you hurt because you just don’t think they will happen to you.
I've watch over a half of dozen series. Many of them I couldn't "see" how it was going to come out. But shortly after starting I saw "Oh, that's how he is doing that." This job you are almost finished and I still feel like I'm not following. Must be the new diet the Mrs. is putting me on.. ;>
Ever think about getting into landscape lighting it ads so much to a project. Easy money with great results a project like this is just screaming for it. Awesome work look forward to the next one
I have installed some landscape lighting here and there. I should probably push it more but most see the price tag of it and are not interested. I 100% agree with you though, they are a great addition to a project. I would love to see those steps lit up at night with some under cap lighting and pathway lights. Thanks for the feedback! ✌
Lol I have slid down my hill too many times to count in the mud, when you are in your 70's that's the last thing you want! At least the mud is soft and never broke anything 😅 I can't wait until my retaining wall and steps are done!
LOL, having your feet slip out from underneath you is never a good feeling...🤣 I'm glad you didn't get hurt going for a mudslide ride...LOL. I would love to see some pictures of your project when it is finished. God Bless! ✌
That's awesome! I would love to see it, you could email pictures anytime. I have an email link right on my UA-cam Channel page. Glad the videos have been helpful! ✌
Amen, brother! I love yours and Ryan's dry sense of humor and you and Benny playing off each other. The nature of your work allows you to be creative and I always can't wait to see what you create next! It would be awesome if you and Ryan could do a colab! I know just the logistics are easier said than done but I guy can dream.
love love what you do on your job.
Thank you very much, glad you enjoy the work!
Awesome finish.... I like the black caps on the grey block.... really makes it POP!!!!
They really do POP! Such a clean look ✌
Everything looks awesome. I love the fact that you work with your brother in law and nephew.
Thank you, It is awesome working with them. We have a great time together, which is a very important thing at work in my opinion.
Beautiful job as always. You never fail to leave your customers with absolute masterpieces!
Thanks brother, we do our best! ✌
This looks great! Learning a lot from your vids, thanks
Thank you, glad to hear it! ✌

Thank you very much, Montana is a bit of a ride...LOL ✌

I think Benny should sing a song in each episode....who's with me?!?!? 😁 My idea, so I get first request: Native New Yorker
I had to search that song because I didn’t know it… 😂 it would be hilarious hearing him sing that! 🤣
Right?@@TheChristianHardscaper
I second the Benny singing idea.
looks like you had one of the big pave tool clamps at the job. why didn't you end up using it to move the steps?

Put the kid in the skid steer now has to learn at some point.

@@TheChristianHardscaper I had a cam superline. Great trailer but got tired of re painting parts each winter

The colors and textures blend really nicely. Onyx caps are stunning.
Gradual rise fits into the landscape. Another winner
Thank you! They really do, I love Techo Bloc colors and those Nicolock steps look mint next to them.
@@TheChristianHardscaper agreed!

Looks really good. I was just wondering why there are bigger gaps between the steps at the bottom of the staircase compared to at the top?
Thank you, some of the smaller steps had to be shifted over a bit so they did not look too small compared to the rest.

Looks super mint dude! Transformed that section of the property
Thanks man! It was a fun one for sure, more work to do on that property this upcoming year ✌
Turned out awesome.
