Interesting! I didn't know the speckled variegation was better long-term than the half moon/full pink leaves. Just goes to show what we want isn't always what's best for the plant!
Question* some people use orchard bark in my understanding bark isn't fully broken down so due to this process it takes away the nutrients from the plant can't orchard bark do that I also have sand soil..Florida can I use that with perlite

my problem has been in the spring and summer it's mega humid where I live but in the fall and winter it's dry as a bone. my own skin reacts just like my plants that want more humidity. I can't find a balance with a indoor heater but im trying. between cleaning dishes and cleaning cat litter and cleaning humidifiers I'm like always cleaning . 😂

Hi I live in the UK and I have a ppp (pink princess philodendron) since Sep last year. I had it under a grow light in the winter (not to close so it doesn't burn) I let it dry between watering's and essentially it has put a leaf after leaf, so wont complain on that side. But my question here is, I noticed the new leaves had like stripes of where the pink should go but it is washed out? as discolour? I added extra fertilizer using fish emulsion but it has not change and also the leaves are smaller... is that something to do with nutrients? light? humidity? now I put her close to the window so it gets natural light and closer to the humidifier and so far no luck, any tip will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hello! Thank you for the informative video. Can you clarify, the nursery I purchased mine from and Google pages say to intensify the pink, the plant needs more light. But here, you say it’s too much light that causes the color loss, does that mean too much direct light? I’m hearing all these reverse variation and I want to do it right as not to have waste money on this beauty. Thank you
Too much direct sun can damage/burn highly variegated leaves on a Pink Princess. Though brighter light levels can increase variegation, really the biggest factor at play are genetics and nutrients. If the plant you have is a cutting from a plant with high variegation levels, naturally your plant will produce more variegation. As well, the biggest factor to increase variegation production is going to be to increase nutrients aka fertilizer! In our greenhouses we are able to produce beautifully variegated plants in both high light and low light growing conditions because we are fertilizing them regularly. :)
@@creativeprincess9507 I just cleaned all the soil off the roots and put it in there, 3 mos ago, it's fine has 4/5 new leaves. I have 70/80 different plants all growing in Leca or Pon, they all love it, no problems. I have 10 African violet props growing in Pon and Leca, and 3 pink princess babies.
You mentioned using peat moss, you don't mean sphagnum moss right? Just want to clarify that as some people have mentioned that sphagnum moss is the way to go, thank you.
