@@kyleg334 honestly, when this came out. I was not into this kinda music, more like I wasn't exposed to it even though I am from the Seattle area originally. I didn't start listening to heavier type music until I hit high school. I was like, "What am I doing with my life that I never heard this stuff!?". By that time though Kurt was dead and I was playing catch up. Luckily I had a really good friend who was way into music to kinda show me around. That is why I love these reaction channels. As I got older, as with most groups I listened to (Pink Floyd), I began to understand how genius these songwriters were. 'In Bloom', in my opinion, doesn't have definitive lyrics. It's been interpreted in many ways. That's the magic of music. You can ask 1000 different people the meaning of a song and you may get 1000 different interpretations. Sometimes I wish I could go back and hear Nirvana again for the first time with fresh ears. After the Sex Pistols they were probably the first band whose album/s I listened to on repeat.
Just love those hard hitting drums, harsh distorted but accurate and controlled and melodic/ harmonic guitars with the variation in chord changes between angular (Kurt’s word) and softer, and powerful deep guttural snarling vocals (which contrast with the smooth quiet sections in the Nirvana songs). I never worried too much about the lyrics just sang along and let them sink in slowly, sometimes reading the lyrics sheets to get them right.

Think this is my favourite Nirvana song also their first song I'd ever heard, remember hearing it on the radio and it blew me away! You need to definitely check the video it's really cool! It starts off all 1950's and then Kurt drags it kicking and screaming into the 90's!!!

The Lyric, "He's the one who likes our pretty songs and love songs that likes to sing along and likes to shoot his guns, but you don't know what it means" It's about all of the pick up truck driven tough guys in high school who used to beat up on Kurt and make fun of him, And are now banging their head to his songs

I can't imagine hearing a Nirvana song for the first time with the lyrics in front of me... back when it came out, I had no idea what he was saying, and didn't care.. it sounded great.. I think they're better to just hear the song at first and check out the lyrics later. You end up focusing too much on his weird phrases and miss out on how awesome it sounds.

That is dave grohl on drums and he also does harmonies on the chorus. There's a video of buch vig showing the mixing setup of the song and a bunch of other songs on Nevermind, its pretty cool to watch. And yeah this is one of my favorite Nirvana songs, Kurt was such a genius.

1991. 19 years old. 1st year at university in London (im from the UK west country). Then we came home for Christmas. Went surfing in perranporth at 5 degrees C in the air and the water, bcos we had missed it. Great time to play nirvana on the car tape player and dance to it in the clubs, along with metallica enter sandman.

One of the best produced albums of all time...the sound on this is 50yrs ahead of it's time. Butch Vig (also drummer for brilliant UK band Garbage) absolutely changed the music scene with his efforts producing this album and made the legendary producers of the time sit back slack jawed, a true masterpiece for the listener.

the drums in the recording is in fact Dave Grohl but Chad Channing (One of Nirvana's ex drummer) is the one who made up the drums in In Bloom and that drum fill is one of Channing's signature drumming fills
Chad Channing is an extremely underrated drummer

Smells like Teen Spirit was a breakthrough. Come as you are was like OK, they're pretty good. Then they dropped In Bloom and had me hook, line, and sinker. I felt like they made this song for me. I felt like Kurt Cobain just understood me and what it was like to be a teenager at this time. Obviously he had went through some of same things and felt the same things. I went out and bought Nevermind the day after the video for In Bloom dropped. I played it so much I would have to buy another in just a couple years. I could sing(and play. I learned guitar by learning Nirvana) the whole album through. I think Nevermind is one of the top 5 albums ever made. It still sounds as good today as it did in the early 90s.
