I would go to my old college dorm. From the second floor up, the doors are metal and can be locked and only a few people could fit in the stairwell at a time, meaning zombies cant break in with force. Not to mention there's probably 5 tons of ramen noodles laying around.

Being Canadian myself I know where I'll go. My home town has several farms all close together, lots of live stock, fields, a library, and forest as well as home built for warmth (it got as low as -40 where I lived) Has several mom and pop stores but an actual population under 1000. No problem. Train tracks, junk yards, wild turkeys, deer and moose. Wolves, but only during the winter and very few. Perfect.

here is your zombie emergency plan:
1:during outbrake go to your local nuclear powerplant and protect the workers to prevent a nuclear meltdown.
2. make as much people as possible aware of the stationary basis in and around the powerplant.
3:put the people into groups a example would be:
security/medical/engeniering/scavanging/farming
4: keep up the moral. try to create a small theater where for example every saturday with music or other theater stuff. the theater will give the people a feeling of safety and will reinforce sanity and moral
5: clear up towns around the powerplant and build simple walls around them for protection. try to gain as much farmingland as possible.
6:try to get radio communication with other survivors
7:clear out the state/area you live in. this will take months to years but its basically a step towards a new beginning.
thats basically it for the first 10 years xD

Well, the human body produces its own natural radiation. Sadly, it's not enough to kill people. Bananas also have radiation, but nowhere near enough to even remotely injure anyone. Besides, the explosion from the reactor would actually incinerate anyone or anything within 10 miles. So in reality, you really could just pull a Chernobyl, cause the reactor to blow, and get the hell outta there. But you'd have to be careful to only use it as a last resort, because it would poison the water supply within 100 miles. You'd need to be prepared to leave as fast and as lightly as possible. Carry less of the crap you don't need, because survival takes precedence over recreation. Once you have gotten out of there, have found a sufficient source of water, and have found survivors, then you can worry about that small deck of playing cards you left back there. Personally, I'm prepared for any of this. I've got two machetes at home, an axe, a hatchet, a few different hammers, two different sharpened swords, four different knives (two made for throwing), a bow and a few arrows, a spear, and a few staffs of different woods and length.
This is actually more than enough weapons you'd normally need, but who cares? It's not my dumb ass using stupid guns that could 1) not only lead zombies to you, 2) jam up, 3) can be lost or stolen easily, and 4) just straight up break. Besides, if you're going to raid a gun store, why not just live there? It's made for security, and has more ammunition in it than you could possibly carry. Also, military surplus stores are way better, because you have the same things, but you also have MRE's (Meals Ready-to-Eat), which taste kind of badly, and uniforms, which could be the start of the security of a possible utopia, hidden away from the world of hungry zombies.
I've also got a crap load of other camping stuff, that could be used for multiple things, too. Like my multitool, for example. It can be used for a bunch of stuff, whereas just my knife can do one thing. This raises a good point for a lot of stuff. If it can be used for multiple things, then you don't need to carry a bunch of stuff that do the exact same things as it.

Honestly 23 is the smartest strategie. As soon as you hear about the zombies start barricading your home and stay there, spilt the rations, fill all the tubs with water because you are not sure when the water will cut off. The first three days are when the most people die. Keep the doors shut, barricade the windows, stay quiet, and split the rations. Make weapons out of knives and duct tape. If you need supplies go out after a week and find the things you need and get right back. I also think making traps out of sharpening branches or any sharp metal, and plant them in the ground. Building a wall around your house may be a smart, but hard, idea. You should also search the vicinity for other survivors. Strength in numbers.
What do you think about aprtment buildings? Most need keys to even get into a lobby, so i think they are pretty safe, although if a zombie is inside that'd be pretty difficult, becuase you'd have to be careful if the hallways and elevators, and then romove the body and or ways to get infected
You wouldn’t need to fill the tubs as you stated if the other things to do while it’s starting assuming you have time get water barrels and fill tub as you can

But it's most likely not gonna turn out like TWD big groups dont automatically become family and would die for each other. There's gonna be conflicts and fights and people that may betray you.
I think having a group of 3-4 people would be good if you're on the road, less chance of a fight, better bonds/friends and you won't need to find as much supplies

we are not so different you and i. i used to be an adventurer like you until I took an arrow in the knee.
1) know where you going to run to, easy to say just run from city, having a place what's already stockpiled with food , weapons , electric, water source and good defensive position, 100% better chance of surviving in the first wave
So get huge debt and build a secret bunker and when the law comes to a rest you not paying the loan back, your be nice and hidden from law
2) make sure you have done enough survival courses
3) take night courses in electrics mechanics woodwork metalwork construction
4) learn new skills like garden and pottery
5) fitness i.e long miles hikes with heavy bags, cardio everyday, stretching everyday, weight training 3 times, swimming in the sea and swimming pool, road cycling and off-road cycling
6) learn how to use the crossbow and archery
7) learn how to Hunt
8) read plenty of books on castles defences, another information you need constant need to know
9) posted on the internet looking for friends who share similar hobbies to you, now you got your network ready in case there is apocalypse
10) if you followed all those basic 9 qualities before a apocalypse scenario

You forgot a more practical approach.
This will work in cities and suburbia.
Get off the ground.
Find builds with multiple levels.
Destroy the stairs leading up to the next level.
Or in the case of concrete stairwells heavily barricade them preventing access.
Use ropes or ladders to get on/off the ground level.
Build skyways to nearby buildings and again remove the stair access.
Roofs can be used to collect rain water.
Gardens can be built on top of roofs.
Animals such as chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs, anything that can be easily bred and quickly, can be farmed within the buildings or on the roof.
Common raw resources can be gained from within each building you claim, wood/metal/plastic and wires and pipes.
Not to mention fuels, papers, fabrics and foam.
Strip every room/floor that doesn't have a purpose to its bare essentials, namely structural supports.
It doesn't matter what type of building you use as long as you can get off the ground.
An office/store/home will have these basic raw resources as they are found in everyday items be it furniture or building material and most buildings have electricity for wires and plumbing for pipes (tho more plastic pipes are found in homes)

In Kazakhstan, a old Russian weapons facility, used for weapons testing and the creation of new ones, was found by two teams of four U.S sent soldiers, chemical weapons were found and among them were pathogenically edited diseases (Meaning they had the pathogens of different diseases, combined and changed) and among them a was a form of influenza and rabies, fused in their respective unicellular organisms. That made a form of rabies where the host would not die from the rabies they were infected with, coupled with the effects of rabies, and you have a zombie.
Fortunately, or unfortunately for zombie apocalypse lovers, the facility was shut down and the diseases killed, via intense heat and no hosts.
But to think that if there was a war or an evil and corrupt terrorise group found the disease before the U.S government did, we could of had a full blown zombie apocalypse,

you missed the raider strategy: you clear out all the supplies you can in an area by your home then burn the area down and keep moving to next area and repeat until you get to a safe area somewhere else and then you basically bunker down and rebuild, creating your own little community for the future.

Get a speaker for your phone and play a 10 hour long Thriller song to stop a horde of zombies
What if, when things start to settle down(but not too much cause then the store will be looted) you fortify a hardware store with a garden center and start a village there. Boards covering windows and the bars in the garden center so that zombies can't see anyone and have a harder time attacking. People can come and go (but not before going being inspected in an area protecting the residents/being quarantined) as they please. Theoretically there would be supplies and you could grow food as well as store tons of scavenged food.

I would just stay in my town which is a lil behind the times , so I figure I can just live normally for about 20 years before zombies come here, of course the county I live in only has a population of just over 10,000 and is a big area surrounded by mountains and rivers in the valleys

No problem with me and my dad! My dad has so much guns i dont even know em all! My dad started shooting at like 7 years old. He went to a shooting competion at 8 yrs old with a .308 And came SECOND. He was once a european champion. We both have been hunting in the woods so much! And me (im 12) have shot 1 bear, 3 elks and a lot of small animals. The length of time zombies would be a problem would be short , they are dead they will rot out and fall apart quickly . There would be new zombies freshly bitten but there numbers would dwindle due to attrition , Then there is the issue of all dead becoming zombies caused by a mutation of the illness so dealing with the dead and dying would have to have comprehensive solutions devised to deal with em, spraying a slurry of quick lime and water on the newly dead would hasten their decay and help with the smell . I liked Mishons method of taking a couple of em and chopping off there lower jaw and arms and use em for pack animals for as long as they lasted . The illness with well executed measures and precautions could eradicate the problem completely in maybe less than year.

olarky arkansas well here’s the drawback to that they feed and seeing how the body has cut back all extra uses it would be practical that the nutrition they get from feeding would actually sustain them well for a long time yet because of the type of pathogens they would feed constantly so the minimal use of body and brain is actually optimal killing machine
Depends, Romero Zombies didn't seem to rot that much if at all. Then there's the spread of whatever is reanimating the corpses. What if the infection is in the air, the food chain or the water? Maybe everyone is carrying the infection. And as for dealing with them, most people including the authorities wouldn't believe it was happening until it became a major problem. Your comment about new zombies being the freshly bitten is off too. A zombie apocalypse would likely not be brought about with bite only infection. That kind would be put down quickly. More likely it would be a multi vector infection that is far more difficult to identify and contain.

Do not go to a store or a mall. Everybody will be there buying food and it will not be good. Also more people means the more zombies are gonna want to be there to eat you all up. So if you absolutely need to, go to a small corner store where not a lot of zombies or people will be there.
If it was occurring I don't think people would be buying food. People would be killing over basic needs, but yeah the basic rule applies to it.

I'm 27 and I've been gardening and fishing since I was 7. I've was tough sewing at a young age too and I tell everyone those life skills might just save my life. I think hunters,farmers/gardeners and ranchers and anyone that owns a boat will have the best chance of survival during any apocalypse.

When I am forced to imagine what I would do to feed my children, in an extended disaster situation, some of the thoughts trend dark. It's my sincere belief that the most dangerous threat in that event will be parents like me, willing to do anything to feed our starving babies. A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G.
My advice...avoid people with children and large families....and if someone has a pug...forget about it. They will kill you in your sleep and feed you to that dog. They're nuts :)
