Thank you for this wonderful preview. I'm really excited about this system and really curious to see how you manage progression with the different variations and between the series (i.e. is the progression white, gray, black in 1st into white 2nd or does the system intend to jump back and forth at certain positions and variations). The first series in black already looks challenging for beginners (I'm a little afraid of the black variation of sixth, in case this is even meant to be practiced), so I'm really excited about the things to come.
Indeed, this is the most advanced version of the First Series! The white and gray variants are more accessible. There is also a Foundations Series, which is more accessible still. All of these will be released soon, with the new website. To answer your question about the progression: You do not have to master the black variation of the First Series before exploring the Second Series. (The white variant of the Second Series is easier than the black variant of the First). If you have a good time with the gray variant of any series, then you will most likely have a good time with the white variant of the next series up. As for the black variant of the six series, it scares me too! LOL. Most practitioners will find some variant of the first two series challenging but approachable, and will be able to progress eventually into the white or gray variants of the third and fourth.
The opening chant is the yuyam vayam mantra: yuyam vayam vayam yuyam ity asit matir āvayoh kim jatam adhuna yena yuyam yuyam vayam vayam “You were me and I was you Thus, once it was, that we were one But what has happened now by which You are you and I am I?”
Thanks for asking. Black Lotus Yoga is a new form of vinyasa yoga designed to be practiced in the Mysore style. The practice is based upon traditional Hatha principles. It works with the dynamic balance of prana and apana to invite the life energy to flow. There are six series in the system. The practice emerged from my own twenty-year study of Ashtanga Vinyasa. It came organically, and unexpectedly, and has become the focus of my daily practice and teaching. I am honored to share it with you.
This is a super gift! thank you. Black lotus is genius, fluid, logical, smart and balanced 🥰
