- Day-old cygnets climbing out of the pond with varying degrees of success! The parent swans exhibit perfect parenting tactics. I took this video after following this mating pair of swans year after year. It's has captured the hearts of millions of people around the world as it's been shared by various channels.

I love that both parents take care of the babies and they are good parents! Otherwise this vid would have made me anxious!
They mate for life around 5 years of age and can live for up to 30 years. Mute swans are a lot like good human parents in so many ways!

@@DonSanchez Lol but humans do much worse, they even kill their babies. Most swans are better parents than the majority of humans, plus they understand the importance of staying together to raise their kids lol how many kids have both their parents looking after them in the west?
@@jannatul5208 Animals kill their own babies more often than humans do, and they even eat their own babies. Once again humans win.
And the argument with separations is non-sense, a child will grow up more happily with divorced parents who coordinate and split the parenting evenly, than with a couple that hates each other but "stays together for the kid" and fights all the time in front of it.
The last baby must be so exhausted at the end lol.

*Makes me ponder deeply:* One always has to be the last, but if we saw that as bad, then no one could be the last, which would lead to fierce, destructive competition, but in the end, you'd still have that outcome anyway. The one who goes last may be aware of that. And if the dummies don't get it, then the last could help them climb up in tandem. (Baby steps.)
On the other hand, in this specific case another lesson was taught: The last, once it was alone, got the panic and chose the least advisable spots to try and climb out, tragicomically. -> Fear is the biggest enemy. It sabotages us when we fall prey to it. That one might have been so occupied with its latent fear of being left behind that it didn't pay attention to learn the technique from the others.
Very insightful. Also, in order not to be the last, one doesn't have to be smart. But they need to pay attention their surroundings and follow other people.
Sometimes one is left behind simply because their mind is not focused and not paying attention what other people are doing. Not because they are more stupid than others.

Also, being last could actually indicate superior intellect, depending on the situation.

No probably last one laid as an egg and last one to hatch.will always work harder to catch up. Needs to grow a little more.
No it doesn't. The others haven't had any training and they managed it OK. It got what it needed, the protective presence of the parent bird and the assumption that he, the cygnet, will manage it in the end. No pressure or threats. Perfect parenting! If only human parents got it as right as that swan.

Frustrating to watch, but I reckon if you tried to help them, mama swan be all over you. I was really rooting for the last one . Love those fuzzy little butts as theywaddle away.
Lol, yes it was frustrating for us to watch! Imagine how frustrated baby was. Daddy was very patient though.
And yes if a human were to get involved Daddy probably would've hurt the human, lol. They can do some damage to humans if they have too. As you know, there wasn't a need for humans to stick their nose in anyway since the baby wasn't in danger or anything. It's all a part of learning. 😊🦢
Plus in the end they also need to learn to handle their surroundings and it's better in the long run if they do it for themselves.
