I hardly ever get to see you play this amazing game live--as im over the pond UK and as a single parent (im Dad btw) i dont get much time for myself(last time i played Days Gone was over 2 years ago) PS4-still got it-and want to do it again-but i never seem to have the time(cos i dont have any) But i do look at my notifications to see when youve posted Days Gone-and some how while child care, washing clothes, school, eating, sleeping I do get to watch your vids. I have to say i find your commentary and the way you talk to your subscribers a joy--always very polite. All the best to you and family....Snowdonia North Wales UK.
Hi Richard, as a formerly single dad myself, I can relate to never having enough time! I love this game and everything it has done for my life. I'm just grateful that I'm still able to create content and share it with folks who enjoy it! Thank you for watching!
I was raised by a single dad ❤ Thank you both for loving your kids enough to stick around and put in the time & effort. Seems like a silly thing to thank someone for but when I compare notes with friends it seems like men like my dad & you two are too few & too far between. The world would be a much better place if more could learn from your example imo. That's my unsolicited $0.02 anyway Happy belated Father's day guys! 🌟💥❤️🔥👨🍼🍺🍼🎮 Hope you're able to get some game time in soon @richardtaylor3798 And I'm off to watch more of your videos while confronting my first horde, thanks again for the info @SpawnicusRex
I'm a single father as well brother, I have 100% custody so her " mother " has zero contact. My daughter actually loves when I ask her to sit and watch or even play playstation and my Xbox. Maybe not this game but she loves RDR2. Sometimes the washing cooking ironing should get thrown out the window for time together on the sofa. My daughter always mentions loving when id give her the pad with the quilt on the sofa with snacks and takeaway.
Rex not only dropping horde killing knowledge, but also “Art of War” knowledge! Also, do hordes observe Daylight Saving time during their feeding migration times? That first week of “spring forward/fall back” must screw up their circadian rhythm 😂
It really is amazing how The Art of War can still be applied to so many real life situations to this day. That is one book that actually changed the way I think lol
Another tip: a lot of nero injectors are inside caves that hordes can be found(like the one in the grotto caves and the one near the hot springs camp). Knowing when they leave can let you sneak into those caves for the injectors.
Absolutely! That's one reason I advise folks to be aware of the time of day and learn their path before engaging. Each spot you may find them in has advantages and disadvantages. Thanks for watching!
I found a Nero shot in a cave before I ever saw a horde and I thought, “This is odd… I don’t have to do or fight anything for this? Okay….” Now finding out I just happened to go in at the right time. 😂
Best horde guide for Days Gone. I always like these type of guides. So rare these days. Most of the content creators are too busy spiting out the same thing the person before them did with no input of their own. Underrated channel.
This is the most detailed, professional, comprehensible and easy to process game tutorial in history of game tutorials. I just started my journey with Days Gone (which is great btw) but hordes overwhelmed me a bit. Don't get me wrong, this mechanic is great, but the panic meter goes straight up when the battle starts. That's why thank you for making it easier for all the casual gamers.
Absolutely my pleasure! Playing around with different ways to engage the hordes is what made me fall in love with Days Gone in the first place. I eventually got tired of running from the Death Train horde and decided to fight them... died about 7 times and finally started to get the hang of it 😆 Then I made a video where I cleared a large horde without using any guns and Sam Witwer shared it on his social media! Here we are now... Thanks for watching and happy hunting!
I like how he said die a few times, I literally did that on the first horde I didn’t know how I wanted to approach the horde… so I just saved at my bike then approached them and let em have at it to break the ice! I’m on day 808 first full playthrough just got iron Mike’s power on
That tip actually comes from 8 Bit Terror, host of the Days Gone Podcast. If you like Days Gone you should definitely check out the podcast! ua-cam.com/play/PLUFiNW8lRYyaWiS-h28HzbgVyC6XJNafb.html&si=Ot-p-Vb-nAYRlHKf
I just started playing DG near the end of November and I can say it's one of my favorite games ever. I love the story, the adventuring, and I am amazed at Deacon's character (played masterfully by Sam Witwer). One of the best tips you mentioned is regarding the bike's placement. Not only is it your only proper save point, it's also going to keep you alive if you put it near an exit point. I've survived recent hordes just because I managed to hop on and drive off. Thanks for this video! It was very helpful.
Absolutely! I love sprinting to the bike, dropping a smoke bomb by the bike and using the time to hit my saddlebags and get right back in the fight... I also sometimes have to run away lol If you're enjoying Days Gone, make sure you check out The Days Gone Podcast! ua-cam.com/play/PLUFiNW8lRYyaWiS-h28HzbgVyC6XJNafb.html&si=zaGV_cnT-YTwU7PB
Thank you, I truly appreciate it! Here is a video I made about using smoke bombs property, lots of good tips in this one! You're using smoke bombs wrong video: ua-cam.com/video/V-BBEoVDnDQ/v-deo.htmlsi=jGEg_XpYAI5BhTg_
This is a great summary of everything (strategy, skills, techniques, etc) you need to fight hordes and freaks. Also love how things are highlighted/emphasized onscreen during the video. Makes it easier to see what is being discussed.
Yep, highlighting important elements that are being discussed is one of the things we learned by bringing on a pro editor. Little things like that made it totally worth it. Thanks Cap!
Best video so far on youtube on Days Gone horde strategy killing and handling hordes. I have watched many pro players on youtube how they kills 3 horde at a time but they don't show these small details and mindset to master this game. Awesome work man. Big fan of this game played many times still in love with this. Loved your work and specially your voiceover and detailed video.
Thank you so much! There are a lot of great videos that show different ways to clear specific hordes but like you said, I wanted to show the tactics and mindset to help folks master ALL the hordes!
That photo mode tip- I was recently playing some AC Origins and Oddysey (I'm a sucker for pretty open worlds) and now, that I started Days Gone a week ago, way too often I thought "man, I could use that eagle/drone scout right now" 😂
I know right! I had a very similar experience. I played Far Cry Primal (great game btw)b which has an owl to scout with AND AC Odyssey which has an eagle! That's part of how I started using that trick 😆
I just finished the game and have cleared out all the northern map hordes. I didn't realise you could see the time in the map menu! I just go on whether the sun is out or not. Great video - thanks.
You bet! I am ashamed to admit I was on my second or maybe even third playthrough before I noticed there was an actual clock on the map screen lol. Thanks for watching!
I only just started literally a few days ago and for whatever reason this vid of yours made its way through my YT timeline. Your guide is as comprehensive for a DG noob like me and I will take note of this as I move forward into the game. Thank you for sharing 😀
My friend... I applaud you! I have just started playing this game and you help me a lot... I started watching you with your guide on how to get the SMP-9 fast. I cant get enough of your video guides. This game is incredible and super underrated for reasons unknown to me. You explain things so good, that i feel like you are one of the members of BEND STUDIO. If Elder Scrolls has ESO, Days Gone has you, my friend... Keep it up, because this game deserves more love, more recognition and most definitely a sequel. Be safe, my friend, and have a wonderful day!
Thanks so much and welcome in! I just love Days Gone and love sharing these tips. Days Gone has brought many positive things to my life and we're not done yet. Thanks for watching!
A tip for the Sherman camp one on the mission where you get the knife for Addy what I did is I just leave with the hood beneath the ladder to get in and I just stayed up there and threw frags
Love these tips.. I finish the game years a go, and now im playing it again. Everything you covered to master this horde missions is so presided. Awesome job!!
I love to hear that! Days Gone is meant to be extremely challenging in the earliest hours of gameplay but over time, Deacon becomes an unstoppable bad ass! Some players are put off by that slow burn at the beginning of the game and struggle to get past that phase. I make these videos specifically to help new players avoid being overwhelmed while also helping experienced players refine their playstyle and learn new tactics. See ya round!
@SpawnicusRex facts.. I remember the first time playing it, I used to hide inside dumpsters while taking down nests in the early missions just to avoid getting killed. I felt the fear and all the rush in my blood system lol One time I waited a whole night cus there were scavengers and plenty of wolves and freakers all at once. "I got caught in the middle of a random encounter without knowing it" lol but I survived that night.. it is very challenging, it's a bad ass game. After you know how to start gaining trust and upgrading weapons, it gets easier, and true Decon becomes unstoppable. It took me a while to figure out tricks by myself without internet, I avoided many times lol
What an amazing video! Been playing this game since 2019 and I can't get enough of it! The best advise you gave to me is don't be afraid to die a few times, it's terrifying being chased by a horde so dying really helps 😂 but really great tips and great video.
Hi there and welcome in! Glad you found us. That tip about allowing yourself to die a few times actually comes from @8-BitTerror, host of The Days Gone Podcast! If you're a fan of Days Gone definitely check out her podcast. Here's a link if you haven't already heard it: ua-cam.com/play/PLUFiNW8lRYyaWiS-h28HzbgVyC6XJNafb.html&si=dHIqaupTT6Q_5jvT
Hi there, I'm in the studio working on new content right now! Thought I would take a "break" for a minute and catch up on responding to viewer comments. Comments like this make it easy to keep to going! Thanks for watching, glad you liked it!
undisupted King of Days Gone! Just when i thought i knew enough, still teaches me something new. Great tips for new and veteran players Rex. Love the cadence and delivery of the tips as well, the assurance in your voice lol. But it is true, rest assured this is a master class indeed!
Thank you so much! I put a lot of thought into the tone I wanted to use and I figured "confident and reassuring" was the right way to go. I'm sure I missed a few things but I really tried to include everything I could think of that helps me decide how I want to take on any given horde. Thanks again!
Brilliant guide Ive played through this game 20 plus times and I'm currently playing it now so I consider myself pretty good at it....however ive learned a few things from this guide I never knew Thanks mate
That is exactly what I like to hear! I tried really hard to find a balance between expert tips and beginner tips in this one. I wanted this video to be a beginner guide that experts can still learn from AND an expert guide that beginners can understand. Glad it helped you and thanks for watching!
Great tips! Usually in the moment I end up running around like a chicken with my head cut off, but knowing how they react in situations and seeing them is super helpful. Need to slow my actions down and think methodically.
"slow my actions down and think methodically" That's the right idea! I wanted the video to show everybody that skill level really doesn't even matter if you're using what the game gives you to master the horde battles. Choke points, elevation, crowd control tools, etc, etc make those encounters a little less scary, especially if you are using photomode to study the battlefield. Thanks for watching, see ya round!
Great video guide mr. Rex! I picked up Days Gone out of curiosity, precisely for how many people would say how incredibly underrated this game is, and my oh my... there were right. I found one of my favorite PS games. I'm just at that point where I'm finally geared up decently to start taking on hordes. *ADQUIRES NAPALM MOLOTOV*
@@diafenix gj I always borislav247s tactic there set traps in car gaps and use explosive cannisters in pumps area place infront of wall and camp on small hut roof. Theres 2 hordes at chemult another big horde at college
Also check out borislav247 vids out on horde killing rex is good but borislav247 is better (no offence rex love ya buddy hehe) at horde killing rex has some good insight too but borislav247 breaks it down thru every option ie conventional stealth sniper etc
Omg this game is so amazing. It has its so-so moments, but overall its been the best game ive played in a long time. Thanks for this video. Finding a game i want to finish completely is rare for me.
@@SpawnicusRex I gotta take out some hordes and the bird nests and I'll be "done". I love cruising around picking fights though. This game is fun and really immersive.
This has to be the best, most comprehensive, and detailed set of instructions on how to deal with hordes. I only recently downloaded the game, and for the life of me, I can't understand why this game has had negative reviews. One of the best open world game out there! Thank you 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Hey very cool video, well spoken and edited. Lots of amazing tips for the horde hunters in Days Gone. Just found your channel was recommended this video because I’ve been watching a lot of horde killer videos from Borislav 247. You both have such great tactics and tips for the horde enthusiasts in Days Gone keep up the good work and I subbed 👍🏻😎
Its my first time playing this incredible game and today for the first time I've encountered a horde. It was the one at the cemetery. I hid in a nearby bush and just saw the horde pass by. After a while I was caught by the same horde while clearing an infestation in a nearby area and it was terrifying (in a good way). Because in my I head, I was like "I saw the horde go far away. Surely it must've despawned or something". But the fact that it was the same horde that had travelled to the infestation area and scattered around really impressed me. After I got killed, I was like "Holy shit that was freaking awesome!". It was one of the most insane experience I've had in gaming. I'm usually not a fan of the zombie horror genre but this game is so well done, its unbelievably impressive sometimes. 6:25 - This is so true! You should let yourself die. After dying to the horde today I realised I didn't lose any significant amount of resources or any story progress. Now I don't know if at some point in the story would I HAVE to clear a horde in order to progress but now that I know what happens, I would be more calm and analytical in my next encounter. Awesome video! I felt like I was watching a survival guide on National Geographic or something. Its nice to see some quality guides on this 4 year old game even today.. cheers!!
This comment made my morning. I wasn't going to do any "work" today. I have a busy day and was planning to concentrate on channel stuff later... but the first notification I see is this comment and I knew I just had to take a moment to welcome you in. Days Gone still has a strong and growing community of fans and a few content creators that still create quality content. There are Challenge Mode masters, Speed Runners, Modders, and people who use glitches to jump into areas you can't normally reach. You should also check out the Days Gone Podcast but only after you've finished the story as there will be major spoilers in some episodes of the podcast. The tip you mentioned about dying to the enemies actually comes from @8_BitTerror the host of The Days Gone Podcast! Since you are still early game and still learning the game I'll link another of my videos that I made specifically to ease new players into the early hours of the game. Borislav247 turned me onto your page! Love his stuff quickly, loving your vids as well! The music in this game really lights me up! gets the heart racing, for sure! Thanks for the vids, interested in Days Gone Con, but I'm all the way in Canada, while you're in Colorado! But it sounds really cool! If there is a link to that I'd be interested in it! Thank you again, love the content! Watching last month's live stream, with the crossbow, very entertaining! On my first play through on regular mode, I used the crossbow solely at the beginning just because resources were tight! So I can relate! I've finished it 3 times already on different skill levels, now I'm following suit, New Game+ Survival 2 miss the mini map, but even more so the health status bar! I agree if they made a sequel I doubt it would be as strong a story, and they would lose focus of the original. I wouldn't mind seeing extended add on pack, with the 4 or 5 regions potentially in the game! The Anarchist's, Kouri in Reno, the evolution of what becomes of the Rippers, Marauders, perhaps even a DCM split, for those that want to fulfill the Colonel's prophetic story line!? I find it so depressing to go back to Lost Lake and Boozer and Sara are just sitting there with lost grins, or a vapid look in their eyes, you can't even interact with them, makes my heart drop every time I return there! The dog is the only cute thing! I want Manny to return Deacon's gas tank and an apology, one from Copeland as well! First chance I get, in every game I've played, I starve out their camp because of the bike theft, even though Tucker's people are tyrants, I still feed them instead! Well enough of my ranting! See you in the trenches, knee deep in Freaker ssshi@t! Thanks again!
Days Gone literally changed my life lol, even met my fiance because of this game! Days Gone Comm is an "in real life" get together sponsored by, and for, the fans of Days Gone. Wow wow wow. Such a great video and so well done! It is indeed a Master Class from a DG master. If I could give this more than one like I would! Much respect sensei.
Great video, thank you, sir! I love the story, but i'm over 30 hours in and still too terrified to take on a horde 😂..this is giving me some much needed courage to eventually go for it!
Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked the video! It really is all about conquering your fear. Days Gone did a great job of ramping up the fear factor. The hordes are TERRIFYING! I made a video specifically for new players that shows exactly how to kill 4 small, early game hordes to unlock a bad ass sidearm. Hope this helps! @@SpawnicusRex Thanks man! I've decided for my first horde to be the story horde, which i think is coming up very very soon, apparently the napalm is almost ready 😁 wish me luck 😄
Loved the whole video .. Concise and also to the point with great tips and tricks .. Just started Days Gone again after 4yrs .. And no to sound creepy but damn your voice is so soothing ...
I don't mind that folks find my voice soothing lol, I know some viewers put my videos on just to have something to listen to in the background. I'm still getting views and ad revenue from it 🤣 Thanks for watching, I'm glad the video helped you out!
I've owned this game for years and never played until recently. I gotta say, I'm still in the north, haven't ventured down south for the nomad mission yet because I'm trying to tie up loose ends in the north, and every time I come across one of these hordes, it's the only time in this game I get absolutely terrified. And every time I think I'm ready to take one on, I wind up coming out with zero everything and barely make it by the skin of my teeth and have to wait a few days before I'm mentally and physically prepared with ammo and explosives etc to take one on again. Thanks for the pointers. I've taken down maybe 4 so far so still have quite a few left and hopefully this well help me not absolutely get wrecked next time I take them on lol. I do love that it makes me nervous fighting them though. Not a complaint at all. Just wanted to point that out that I like the fact it's scary and makes me think twice messing with them 😅
Agreed 100%! I let the game sit on the shelf for months before I started playing it and once I started, I was so scared of the hordes that it made me angry lol. I got tired of running away and decided I was mad enough to engage a horde out of spite lol. I died 6 or 7 times then started learning how to lead the horde where I want them to be. After I got over that fear, things got a lot more interesting!
Ths horde in the cemetery, for me they slept at night and were out during the day. On my playthrough no matter were I reload and progressed time, so I adjusted accordingly. The only horde that I had this happen with. Great Video.
In the beginning were you find the girl that got beat up by that other guy Leon I think. It's right there in that cave were you also do the first O'Brien mission. Sorry not good with location names.
Great job Rex, stepped away from DG for a bit to play other games, but after watching your newer vids, I may have to start a fresh Hard II playthrough. Keep up the great work
Here there K Daddy! I've got more videos scheduled to release soon and have others that we've already started work on too! Good to see you again, see ya round!
Loving this guide. You really make it easy to understand. Greats tips. Haven't been playing very long. You've been a huge help. Definitely earned yourself my subscription. I'll be passing your name along to others I know playing to game. Really appreciate the effort you've made for other players.
You bet, I'm glad my videos have helped you out! That's why I started my UA-cam channel, I like helping new players find a deeper enjoyment for the games I love best. Thanks for watching, welcome in!
Hi Rex! I just want you to know that you made this game exciting for me with your best start series. I used the principles to continue but it still sucks that you stopped.
I'm so glad that the Best Start Series helped you enjoy it more. I always figured that by giving all those early game tips, folks could take that forward and enjoy the rest of the game in their own way. I do recent live stream playthroughs that show late game tips if you would like advice beyond what the Best Start series shows. If I recall correctly, episode 6 or 7 of this playlist should pick up where the best start series ended. Hope this helps! ua-cam.com/play/PLBJwsJgyTDYt1j_HFvfXg6DZItdbWHB_M.html&si=ICfg1H1kQiPFsSUT
I usually just pulled up with my tommy gun and lmg and tried to stay ahead of them no matter the location. But what isn't mentioned about open spaces is they will spread out and surround you a lot easier.
We mention that "wide open terrain" is always bad but didn't go into detail about how the hordes will try to flank the player in open terrain. That's a good point, thanks!
I would also like to add one more thing in this amazing video guide. A few of the patch perks that you get from the challenge mode are amazing. Mainly the Condemned and the In Sight patches. Condemned patch gives you a 3+ bullet penetration which helps in mowing down the hordes immensely, and the In Sight patch makes shooting from your bike 60% more accurate. I just unlocked both these patches a few days ago and it has given me new confidence in taking on the hordes, as your fast firing automatic weapons like the SMP9 and the Chicago Chopper absolutely wreak havoc upon the hordes with the Condemned patch perk. So, if anyone doesn't mind spending some extra time and effort on getting gold scores on 1 or 2 challenges, I'd say definitely go for it as it makes the job a whole lot easier. And more fun, too.
I agree completely! In fact, I included a whole section on Challenge Mode patches that help with killing hordes in the original script and voice over for this video. We decided to cut that section to keep the run time from getting too long but will likely include those tips in a future video since the voice over already exists. Thanks for the comment! I recommend anyone struggling with challenge mode check out the youtuber Borislav247, that guy is crazy good at challenge mode!
@@SpawnicusRex I watch Borislav's videos all the time, mate! In fact, his video guide helped me get the two patches. And yes, he is a great DG player. In fact, I think it was he who led me to your channel as he mentioned you in one of his videos if I remember right.

@SpawnicusRex Thank you for checking out the channel!!! My bro Dog Rocket RIP 🥹 sadly passed away from stomach cancer, he gifted me his gaming set up and i keep his ashes ⚱️ inside the PC. Apologies I am late to the party as usual and Sir I have added you and @8bitterror to the list!!!! Both your content over the passed few weeks has definitely been a huge inspiration into the epicness of Days Gone. Many thanks again, keep doing what you do best!!! Peace out
What a great tutorial. I thank you kind sir for such sharp visualization, outstanding montage and of course amazing script backed up by narrative skills. What to add more? Wish you good luck and sir, you got a follower.
Thank you SO MUCH! I put a lot of time into choosing my wording, to communicate as much info as I could, in the shortest time possible. This is also the best and most polished video that I've produced so far so I'm really proud of it. Thanks for watching and also thank you for commenting. See ya round!

I take that as very high praise. I spent a lot of time thinking about how to organize what is essentially everything that I know about killing hordes and present it in a way that is easy to receive for both expert players and total newbs. Thanks for that and thanks for watching too!
I like to lure the Hordes to the Bases, and let them help out.. Or I will get two of them hulk Freakers, to follow me , and Lure them into a horde..it's funny to watch the mega-wrestling between them all.
I just started playing days gone I tried to take them on with just a pistol and a repeater rifle it was a horrible fail lol but thanks man now I can use these strategies
Early game those hordes are extremely challenging but, not impossible. I made a video a few years ago that is specifically intended for new players. It will show you how to kill 4 early hordes easily and unlock the best sidearm in the game, it's a long video but it WILL help you. Enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/eqyJ1PR47H8/v-deo.htmlsi=g9MypkOIkvxZvELq
In The Art of War Sun Tzu recommends you find the high ground, preferably during daylight and just outside their cave, and then rain down merry hellfire on the unsuspecting hoard.
After 5 or 6 Fails...I always take the OPTION of Skipping this HORDE Killing and moving on , with the story. I tire quickly and my joy of playing the game deflates, after failing so many times.
I can't do the run and fire the gun thing for very long. I'm reasonably good at these games, but just can't get good enough for extremely fast game play. So I prefer the attractors with grenades and pipe bombs. Then I can finish off maybe 30 stragglers with gun fire. One aspect of this game I found lacking was the camps providing all the crafted items. Looks like there were boxes in the merchant shop ready to just that, but nothing in them. At level 3 trust, should be able to buy all fully crafted items.
Yeah I love the sneaky and quiet approach to killing hordes. When I first started playing Days Gone I had the opinion that if a horde fight devolved into a "run and gun" then I had already lost... now I just start blasting 🤣 I do wish that you could buy crafting materials from the camps once you roll credits on the main story, that would've been nice!
bro i have a glitch (pc version) using xbox controller ,whenever i try to fuel ⛽ my bike and press B it doesn't refuel and he crouch 😐😐 any clues please
I might be able to help with that. Firstly, make sure you're really close to the bike. If you have the button prompt, you should be able to fuel up. You do need to hold the button down, not just a single press. Secondly, if possible, try to test a different controller. If that doesn't help here are a couple of other options to fuel up. Check your keyboard commands for fueling the bike. You may just need to press that keyboard button instead of using the controller to fuel up. Lastly, one other thing to test, you can pull up right beside a fuel pump and hold B to fuel up, test that and see if that works. One other thing I just thought of, B is also the button to repair the bike. Deacon will crouch down and start using a wrench on the bike. Are you able to repair the bike with B? Hope this helps!
Thank you so much! We have been working on this one for a while because I wanted to include everything I could think of that would help players get better at killing the Hordes!
Awesome video. Its too late in my playthrough to try this, but have you or your good lady or anyone tried using smoke bombs on the nero missions to avoid being seen?, just wondered if it would work.
Thank you for this! Definitely feeling a lot braver & will likely try to take on a horde here soon. Is there a sort of "beginner horde" you'd recommend starting with? (My apologies if it's covered in one of the vids & I've missed it or forgotten)
You bet, I'm so glad the video helped you build your confidence to take on the hordes! I welcome questions, no worries! I made a video that shows exactly how to find and kill 4 easy hordes to unlock the smp9 as early as possible. It will show you step by step which hordes to go after first. Happy hunting! Here's that video: ua-cam.com/video/eqyJ1PR47H8/v-deo.htmlsi=PXya_hPCmSjDzm2l
@@8bitterror A bit of an in joke for those of us who have loved his vids for years. As an old dude OG gamer in his fifties, you, Rex and Borislav have helped me adapt to more open world games. DG in particular as I love narrative focused games. I was Res Evil and Dead Space inclined which are very linear. Blokes my age generally don't do the social media stuff but I love the passion behind everything you guys do. So the odd comment on youtube and likes are the best we do. BTW as an English lass are there any other words you'll get him to pronounce "properly"? 😃
fantastic as always! my main problem is while I'm running - -to turn around and see where the horde (or other enemy) is for me to stop and shoot or keep running - - I get caught almost every time when I try and look...is it a PC thing?
You should definitely be able to run backwards and shoot on PC. I'm not sure exactly how though. When I played Days Gone on PC I used my PS5 controller not keyboard and mouse.
Yeah that's a great load out! The Chopper is so much fun lol. I was really impressed with the Eliminator too, I shot a freaker out of the air with it when they jump at my bike on time. It was epic!
I downloaded days gone from the Sony ps store but i am unable to play the challenge games. Says I need 45c. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.
Thanks so much! I love how Days Gone let's the player control the battlefield in nearly infinite ways. That's a big part of what keeps me playing it. Thanks for watching!
As someone who is not a great gamer I would have added one more bit. Running and gunning when you stumble into a horde. Rex and Borislav gave me enough confidence that I don't run or plan every time I see a horde. Bad day in work... Feck it I'm taking them on! Using the advice here you can beat a horde on the run. Just expect a long walk back to your bike when you pick up that last ear.
When I first started playing Days Gone, I had the opinion that if a horde fight devolved into a "run and gun" that I had already lost the battle... now I just go in blasting 🤣
Hey Squirrell! I need to add this to my beginner guide but... due to unexpected drama on the Days Gone sub reddit, Claire and I have been banned and are unable to post there now.
Simply out of curiosity I was wondering, you said on computer the remote bombs act as proximity instead. Do they tend to blow up(usually resulting in your death)if you throw something while standing in range of one as well?
That's a great question! In my experience on PC Remote Bombs will go off whenever freakers get near them, just like a prox bomb/mine. Sometimes if I throw an Attractor Bomb over a prox bomb/mine they will go off but I've also had that happen on PlayStation too lol
I'm actually playing on Game + with all perks and upgrades and my stamina bar still refills incredibly slowly, much more slowly than in your video at 24:30. Is the video sped up or something?
That is a good question. It is very likely the Challenge Mode perks that I managed to unlock with the help of @Borislav247. Each Challenge in Challenge Mode unlocks a new perk, there is one that increases Stamina regeneration!
The main tip there, about letting the Horde kill you a few times to overcome your fear, is actually from 8Bit Terror, host of the Days Gone Podcast. That's how she overcame her fear of enemies in many of her favorite games. On my first playthrough, I died to the hordes a bunch of times from sheer obstinance so I guess that counts too lol
I have been longing to go back to this game after finishing it. I was making my way through the gold medals from the dlc challenges but the 1st horde challenge (Surrounded) has been kicking my behind so much. Do you think you could make a video on it? I'd really appreciate your insight.
I don't know much about the Challenges, I mostly just play the main game but Borislav 247 has some great tutorials for all the Challenges. Here is a link to his most recent video for getting gold in the Surrounded Challenge, hope this helps! ua-cam.com/video/WKK8n29Ti74/v-deo.htmlsi=vh3H_QxJ3DEq8tDa
The first horde I'm properly fighting is the first one you fight in the story which I believe is the largest horde in the game and I am having trouble as I was unaware that the mission I was going into was one where you fight a horde and I don't have the weapons equipped that I would have wanted
I struggled with that horde my first time too! For the same reason also. I just did not have a good load out for fighting a big horde. I had to load an earlier save and go back in with better guns, then I was able to do it. This horde actually isn't the biggest though. There are two more just as big with 300 Freakers and one horde with 500! I have guides for each of those hordes too, if you need them. Good luck
Ps ye deacon can mantle, climb faster than freaker zombies. Rex you missed out another reason for climbing on car/suv roofs RUNNERS RAGERS WOLVES lol this also good vs them. Tip to hear nero mmu tape messages better thru pad speaker when collecting them hold down L1 it blanks out all sounds and u can hear it clearer. And you can see deek slo mo switching weapons out too holding L1 slows time down so you can place throwables better just a cool mention.

question rex have you covered up on deacon st johns background story
That's my unsolicited $0.02 anyway
Happy belated Father's day guys!
🌟💥❤️🔥👨🍼🍺🍼🎮
Hope you're able to get some game time in soon @richardtaylor3798
And I'm off to watch more of your videos while confronting my first horde, thanks again for the info @SpawnicusRex
Same here buddy. I've been playing it on and off for 5 years.
That is high praise, thank you. You are right, there isn't much original content out there these days lol. Thanks for watching!
Or they are max level, all the best weapons, max capacity on carry items, play on easy mode and say, "how to easily do blah blah".

LOVE that you're still making videos on this game. And extremely well-written, edited and narrated at that.
Thank you so much! I still can't get enough Days Gone lol. Thank you for watching!
I also sometimes have to run away lol

I'm glad you stumbled onto my videos! I've literally been playing Days Gone most of the morning today lol. Enjoy!
This is such good coaching on the simple basics you mentioned; a refresher or tips for new comers. You deliver this all so smoothly... And accurate !
Thank you so much! I am really proud of my newest videos, we have really improved the production quality recently. See ya round!
@@SpawnicusRex yes sir!
This is the best video on Hordes in Days Gone. Hands-down. Thank you!!!
Hi there, I'm in the studio working on new content right now! Thought I would take a "break" for a minute and catch up on responding to viewer comments. Comments like this make it easy to keep to going! Thanks for watching, glad you liked it!
@@SpawnicusRex Glad I can help. Because you're definitely helping a lot of us!
undisupted King of Days Gone!
Playing through Days Gone again. Just discovered you. Subscribed. I appreciate your narration: calm, logical, instructional.
Brilliant guide
Ive played through this game 20 plus times and I'm currently playing it now so I consider myself pretty good at it....however ive learned a few things from this guide I never knew
Thanks mate
Just run in a straight line they won't catch up
Great video guide mr. Rex!
I picked up Days Gone out of curiosity, precisely for how many people would say how incredibly underrated this game is, and my oh my... there were right.
I found one of my favorite PS games.
I'm just at that point where I'm finally geared up decently to start taking on hordes.

Hey @dogbone369 Nice to see you!
This has to be the best, most comprehensive, and detailed set of instructions on how to deal with hordes. I only recently downloaded the game, and for the life of me, I can't understand why this game has had negative reviews. One of the best open world game out there! Thank you 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you, I'm glad you found Days Gone! I still have fun with it, years later lol
Hey Shannon, sup man? Thanks for the sub, glad you're enjoying the content!

Woah that's crazy! Not sure which horde that is exactly but that is odd behavior lol. Thanks for watching!

These videos have been so helpful during my Days Gone playthrough. Thank you very much!
AHHH BEEEES! Lol, love the username!
Great video, i just started playing yesterday, these tips are golden for a starting player /cheer

Ive got over 600 hours into this game(i know i love it that much 😅) but even tho i consider myself a veteran at days gone this video is really helpful
Cheers mate
Art of War Spawnicus Rex Style absolutely love it!!! Thank you.. Peace out
Checked out your channel, nicely done. RIP your bro Dog Rocket! I noticed you don't have Days Gone Podcast or Spawnicus Rex listed as channel inspirations on your home page. I'm bummed lol
If you haven't found the Days Gone Podcast yet, I'll link it here. She's awesome and the podcast was a super successful passion project that has since helped to shape the Days Gone community of fans! Here ya go: ua-cam.com/play/PLUFiNW8lRYyaWiS-h28HzbgVyC6XJNafb.html&si=45kRlBkHZMDIcKhC
Enjoy!
Welcome in, see ya round

See ya round!
that tactic of let yourself get k!lled by the horde until you are not afraid anymore, chef kiss
Glad you liked that! That tip originally came from 8 Bit Terror, host of the Days Gone Podcast!

Awesome way to present data, subbed!
Tricking enemies into fighting each other is always a favorite of mine! I love using hordes to clear the ambush camps lol
All i do is run away then come back and take a couple them out and repeat. Always works.
Also a valid strategy lol, thanks for watching!
Dude, the photo look is an incredibly obvious tip that I’ve never considered!
It seems only natural once you start using it too! Glad the video helped, happy hunting!
Very informative! You earned a subscriber
Thank you, glad you liked it! This is my favorite video I've made so far lol
Quite detailed and great video, thanks for making it.
My pleasure! I love Days Gone and love sharing these tips, thanks for watching!
Broooo this video makes me want to go back and play DG again lol 😂 gotta try all the strategies here!
That is as good a reason as any to start another playthrough lol
I just started playing days gone I tried to take them on with just a pistol and a repeater rifle it was a horrible fail lol but thanks man now I can use these strategies
Early game those hordes are extremely challenging but, not impossible. I made a video a few years ago that is specifically intended for new players. It will show you how to kill 4 early hordes easily and unlock the best sidearm in the game, it's a long video but it WILL help you. Enjoy!

@@SpawnicusRex thanks man I'll check it out! I look forward to seeing more of your videos
I finished playing days gone and I would really like to start playing it again this is by far the best game ever even better than The Last of Us
You absolutely rock! Thank you for the great and insightful lecture.
I hope this video can help you get over that and learn to dominate all of the hordes. Good luck!
Attractors and frags/pipe bombs work wonders
Excellent video and narrator superb 👌🏻 loved it 😂
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching!
What a voice man, i could hear you for hours
I can't do the run and fire the gun thing for very long. I'm reasonably good at these games, but just can't get good enough for extremely fast game play. So I prefer the attractors with grenades and pipe bombs. Then I can finish off maybe 30 stragglers with gun fire.
One aspect of this game I found lacking was the camps providing all the crafted items. Looks like there were boxes in the merchant shop ready to just that, but nothing in them. At level 3 trust, should be able to buy all fully crafted items.
Yeah I love the sneaky and quiet approach to killing hordes. When I first started playing Days Gone I had the opinion that if a horde fight devolved into a "run and gun" then I had already lost... now I just start blasting 🤣
I do wish that you could buy crafting materials from the camps once you roll credits on the main story, that would've been nice!
The great Rex has dropped another vid! Let’s go!!!
Hey Megga Mann!
@@SpawnicusRex yo big bro!!!
This is so good! Thanks, Rex!
Thank you, glad you liked it!
I really started to what to go back to the game.... nice.
And I already platinated the game.
Thank you so much!
bro i have a glitch (pc version) using xbox controller ,whenever i try to fuel ⛽ my bike and press B it doesn't refuel and he crouch 😐😐
any clues please
I might be able to help with that. Firstly,
make sure you're really close to the bike.
@SpawnicusRex thank you so much it helped and was fixed ☺️ 🙏🌷
Bloody good video mate
Thank you so much! We have been working on this one for a while because I wanted to include everything I could think of that would help players get better at killing the Hordes!
Seriously, this game is so underrated! But sadly, no sequel to tie up the loose ends.
Awesome video. Its too late in my playthrough to try this, but have you or your good lady or anyone tried using smoke bombs on the nero missions to avoid being seen?, just wondered if it would work.
You can not equip anything other than a Rock
Brilliant video and the narration even better than that
Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun making that video and I'm glad it's helping people. Thanks for wathcing
Dude what a good video. Great job 👍
Thank you! That is the kinda stuff I love about Days Gone. The horde fights can be so much fun... when they go off smoothly lol. Thanks for watching!
Congrats on pronouncing melee correctly. 😁
And the great vid too!
😂 Nice callback to his "me lee" days! I love that he can have a sense of humor about it.
LOL I'm still trying to teach her how to say "taco" properly 🤣
@@SpawnicusRex I'm from Dublin... So we have our own version of English. Ask Clare how we pronounce 33 and a third. 😄
fantastic as always! my main problem is while I'm running - -to turn around and see where the horde (or other enemy) is for me to stop and shoot or keep running - - I get caught almost every time when I try and look...is it a PC thing?
You should definitely be able to run backwards and shoot on PC. I'm not sure exactly how though. When I played Days Gone on PC I used my PS5 controller not keyboard and mouse.
Thank You.
You bet, thank you! Glad you liked it
I love using the Chicago chopper, the mg-40 or rpd, and the eliminator pistol as my everything build. I still play a lot.
Yeah that's a great load out! The Chopper is so much fun lol. I was really impressed with the Eliminator too, I shot a freaker out of the air with it when they jump at my bike on time. It was epic!
This is fantastic. Thank you
Thanks so much! This is my favorite video to date lol
I got this game on my steam deck and it’s been a really fun game I can’t believe IGN rated this game only a 6.5.
I downloaded days gone from the Sony ps store but i am unable to play the challenge games. Says I need 45c. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.
Amazing analysis
Thanks so much! I love how Days Gone let's the player control the battlefield in nearly infinite ways. That's a big part of what keeps me playing it. Thanks for watching!
Great video bro
Thanks so much! This is my favorite video that I've made so far, thanks for watching
Man I remember watching you play this before you did live or have your voice on em. Good times.
I still cannot believe how this thing has grown beyond those first few vids that I put out just for fun lol. Thanks for watching!
Bravo! Can you repost your “Unlock the SMP9 Early” to go with this? I tried to share the link to your own video, but my comment got moderated…lol
Hey Squirrell! I need to add this to my beginner guide but... due to unexpected drama on the Days Gone sub reddit, Claire and I have been banned and are unable to post there now.
Brilliant stuff!
Thank you! I had a lot of fun making this video. It's one of my favorites that I've made so far
That was really helpful, thanks
That's my favorite video I've made so far, glad you liked it!
Another awesome guide video... 📝 📝 📝 thank you sir
Hey Mr. J!
Brilliant, we need more of these videos man.
Hey Anton! I've got a few more vids planned 👍
AMAZING VIDEO!!!
I just started playing for the first time and ran across one of these. I didn’t realize it was a whole mini game unto itself I just ran away 😅
You'll see a few more of them before the end of the game 🤣 Hope this video helped you get ready!
Very good video, especially that "Fear itself" part. But nevertheless I'm gonna friggin' stay away from the hordes, as I'd do in real life.
Good luck
it´s a really nice strategy action game. Thanks for the info.
You bet, I love Days Gone and love sharing these tips! Thanks for watching!
This game is amazing . One of my favourites
Ps ye deacon can mantle, climb faster than freaker zombies. Rex you missed out another reason for climbing on car/suv roofs RUNNERS RAGERS
WOLVES lol this also good vs them.
Tip to hear nero mmu tape messages better thru pad speaker when collecting them hold down L1 it blanks out all sounds and u can hear it clearer. And you can see deek slo mo switching weapons out too holding L1 slows time down so you can place throwables better just a cool mention.
