This mission was a little challenging for me initially. As, for some reason, I couldn't sneak into the bushes next to the horde. I resorted to the tried and true of any game that allows the player to craft big explode-y things... Cheese. I got on the bike, hauled much ass over to the train before the horde got there, planted mines around one boxcar, climbed ontop and sprinted over to the next one beside it. The horde technically didn't have anything to climb, and the car next to it apparently didn't count as a route to Deek. From my cheese vantage point, I set the whole horde on fire, repeatedly. I also panicked once and set myself on fire and rolled off my safe spot by accident. Luckily made it back up to finish them off. If it helps anyone else, remember that Cheese is always your friend. And if it works, it's not stupid. There's another horde battle later on in the murky dark, and I managed to take that one down with similar cheese and a single shot rifle (and explodey stuff, of course.).
Excellent guide, thank you!!! This was my first horde ever and I appreciate that your guide includes the "why" you were doing what you were doing, so your expertise training will apply to future horde encounters.
Hi Kenn, thank you. I'm glad you found the video helpful! This horde was tough for me the first time simply because they drop you in with no warning and no way to change your load out. I kept trying to use the guns I had with me and just couldn't seem to get it. Finally, I started finding more creative ways to deal with them lol. Thanks again!
The wooden platform you cross at 15:17 can also be a good way to drop the horde's size down pretty well. When they try to follow you across the platform it will give out and kill a bunch of them, the rest however will start making it across shortly after however so there's definitely no time to stop and admire your handiwork.
You're right, I should've at least mentioned techniques that include running along the rooftops and the tops of the trucks and trailers. Those can work really well also!
I was one of the players caught out on my first play through as I was more interested in tracking down NERO injectors rather than the hordes. Luckily for me, I discovered another injector in a horde cave and NERO research site just on the road to the left before you cross the stream. I also rode my bike over as an emergency getaway if things went pear shaped. If you were already on the horde hunt Rex then I gather you already had the injector.
@@SpawnicusRex Ha righto. The story sucks you in, then they hit you with a left hook! 😂 It was much easier the second run through because you knew what to expect.
Nice video mate , and a special thanks for the information at the very beginning of the video about the live newt mission , as I'm working my way through the story looking for this very horde.
@@SpawnicusRex Hi mate , released a video today , and I wanted you to take a quick look. Only shouting out this one, as I mention yourself on this video , and just wanted to make sure you are happy about it. If there's a problem , let me know, and I will remove the video to change it. All the best mate.

I like to place a couple of the oxygen tanks close to the proximity mines. In front of them, from the point of where I will be running towards them. That has the effect of them blowing up with hopefully more of the Freakers around.
Going into the house works, but it's a very boring way. You can stand on ledge and throw attractors, but need more than 6. Your way is the way I've been doing it.👍
@@SpawnicusRex I tried the house first time when I wasn’t sure what do do: you can throw attractors until the cows come home but the main horde don’t fall for it - they stay around the sides and back of the house.
Yeah, I realized later I didn't explain that very well in the video. I mention that if enemies are around the side of the house you can't get to them but I should've made it clear that even Attractors don't work the way they should when you're up there.
Master when u are in the house and run out of bombs and bullets there is a glitch that requires u to go very close to them like get near a wall and then start attacking them with a melee and u will be able to kill them
If you are playing on PC the Remote Bombs do not function properly and, to my knowledge, cannot be made to work correctly. They will always function just like a Proximity Mine/Bomb. Yes, the devs are aware. I reported the issue myself but unfortunately, there are no more patches or updates coming. Wish I could be more help. Thank you for watching!
Whenever I place remote bombs and detonate one; they all go off and screw me up. I tried the same setup you used for the Iron Butte horde. All my blue icons went away I just read some bad news. Sony rejected Bend Studio bid for Days Gone 2. So instead they will work on a Last Of Us remake.
That is odd. I've never had that problem before. If you set then in the correct order (that does make a difference) they should go off in the same order you set them.
This game ain't the best ever made, but damn I just love driving around and killing freaks. Thanks for the videos. I enjoy watching how other people take on the hordes.
Yeah me too! This is my least favorite Horde lol, I hate the way they drop you in with no warning and no time to prepare so I figured I would make this video to help folks who don't know it's coming or just weren't ready for it.
My friend could you answer me ? After we finish the game, there is a horde there but why , I mean in this mission you kill the chemult horde. And then there is an extra ??
I'm not sure why there are two different Hordes there. What's interesting to me is that you can kill the Horde before the story mission just like Iron Butte and Sawmill but, unlike Iron Butte and Sawmill, the Horde comes back when you get there for the story. Iron Butte and Sawmill are gone for good if you kill them early 🤷♂️
Yes. They are there as soon as you come to the I-97 region. It's not the same Horde as the main story Horde but, they are in the exact same location. They are one of only 4-5 that spawn as soon as your get to that region.
There is a chemult horde at the south part of the map I believe and then there is another horde somewhere in the middle or the north of the map where the freakers stay near a portable medical something
Hello and thank you for watching! The Chicago Chopper is purchased from the weapon merchant at Wizard Island but the MG55 can only be unlocked by killing 60% of all hordes in the game. You can only get the MG55 by this point in the game if you have been killing every horde available before getting here. Check the Progress tab of your Storylines menu to see all weapons that can be unlocked. Side note: you can also get the RPD from the Wizard Island camp and that gun is great for hordes too.

Yep, sure did 👍 I always clear the Ambush Camps, Infestation Zones and Nero injectors (in that order) before I start doing missions.

Agreed, I really don't care for it myself. Not only is it a little too cheesey, it really does limit your options and your field of fire.
